Plant City, Florida Railfanning

Plant City, FL almost has the same track layout as the one railroad in Hamlet, NC. Amtrak comes through twice a day. The only amtrak train that comes is Amtrak 91 & 92 the silver star. Amtrak 91 arrives at 11:18pm, departs at 11:21pm and Amtrak 92 arrives at 6:25am and departs at 6:30am

Miss living there in PC, best place. Those Juice trains are the longest though, remember sitting there for 15 minutes sometimes waiting, hope to move back one day..miss parksdale markets,yum

I agree. I left to join the Army in 1985. Now I'm out of the Army wondering why I left Plant City. I was home on vacation last year and showed my kids the old train station that is a museum now.

It really is just a quaint laid back sweet town, but got expensive to live in now, I will be moving back to Florida hopefully the end of this year beginning of next, but probably to Polk County, but will be bringing my daughter to see the train station at christmas time, she can't remember, cause she was so young the last time she saw it

Yeah, I realize that it can seem like a lot of trains through PC if you're there listening to the horns and being stopped at crossings, but I can assure you the 20-25 figure is correct.

If you guys got 60-70 trains a day, you'd have railfans coming there from all over the world. You'd have so many trainwatchers on a Saturday there would be no room for the Old car Show. :-))

With this video, you certainly make Plant City a place any railfan would wanna retire to. Although I'm way too young to think about retirement, a side vacation there would work for me if I ever make it to central Florida! :)

Come to think of it, SAL days, not SCL. If I'm thinking straight, the "S-Line" is the old SAL, which runs parallel to and south of the "A-Line" which is the old ACL out of TUS, and the SCL resulted from the merger of those two, correct?

Quite correct. S-Line (Old SAL) runs from Tampa Union Station to Richmond, VA.

Cooincidentally, the A-Line (Old ACL) runs between the exact same two places.

Hey Danny, I just downloaded the S-Line for MSTS. It was modeled on SCL days so it's got stuff like I-75 "under construction". Now I'm driving from TUS through Yeoman Yard towards Plant City.
