  • @aaustinvaughn1 Bullshit you say? That would mean that there are ABSOLUTELY zero cases in which hate crime charges weren't faced by a minority. I can assure you that if you dig through you state's justice department's file there is such a case. I know there's several of these cases in GA. One in particular involved a well known predominately black fraternity beating the hell out of a white initiate. So yes my friend it happens. Media coverage isn't equal, but the law is.

  • You do realize that hate crimes go both ways. Yes there are a such thing as at risk groups, which are usually a minority of some sort. However, if white heterosexual males are ganged up on by a group of blacks, and it was determined that the act was racially motivated then the black guys risks being hit with hate crime charges. It has happened before, and therefore there is equal protection under the law. You're getting media coverage and the law mixed up. Year late and a dollar short lol I know

  • a think a crime should have the same punishment regardless of the reason of doing the crime.

  • I find it a bit ironic that you bring up the law of homicide as an example to counter hate crime laws when, in fact, intentional homicide does not determine whether we're dealing with a murder or manslaughter; to arrive at the former would require "malice aforethought" -- a mental state taken into account to up the category's severity. The same approach is taken with hate crime laws. If you want all crime to be strict liability then you're against mens rea more than just hate crime laws per se.

  • What a piece of work is man! How noble in reason! how infinite in faculties! in form and moving, how express and admirable! in action how like an angel! in apprehension, how like a god! the beauty of the world! the paragon of animals! And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?

that's my favorite part of the soliloquy.

  • Boy, you really have lost all of your mirth, haven't you ??? *chuckle*
