@bobismesothere It's not that it's devolving, it's that history remembers the good and forgets the crap. Trust me, there was a LOT of crap in yesteryear. The 80s, by far, had some of the worst offenders. If you look deep enough, you can still find quality songwriting.

Several years ago I read somewhere that they were trying to schedule The Jesus and Mary Chain at 'Dollywood' (Dolly Parton Country theme park) because they thought it was a Christian band. Now THAT would have been funny.

Regardless, this is a pop classic in my opinion.

Actually they appeared on a Dolly Parton TV show in 1987. Amazingly, seems Dolly loved the Darklands LP, she'd really champion it around. And while the Mary Chain aren't a Christian band at all, they aren't exactly a satanist band either, are they? William has repeatedly stated he believes in God (in many interviews) and at the end of the day, the band''s name is considered offensive only by people who choose to be offended by it.
