For indian defence companies to produce high quality international standard defence equipment, you need to have some foreign investment and transfer of technology. It's a good step this. TATA, L&T etc. are now tying up with BAE, eurofighter etc. to produce cutting edge equipment in india. This is the first step towards developing our own stuff. For developing, you need IP rights and R&D infra which india is slowly building up. No country in the world has 100% indegenious weapons including US.
