It's ridiculous that we're the only developed nation with no universal heath care. We are so far behind in so many areas. If we truly want to be the greatest nation on earth, we have a lot of work to do.
@justjulie37 if coverage was an issue alonside private insurance, all the government really had to do was expand Medicare and up the premiums taken out of everyone's check for those currently working. The for profit model in the medical industry has grossly inflated. We used to pay a reasonable amount in cash for medical related problems and then just seems like over time prices because unreasonable and those in the medical profession demanded more money.
@justjulie37 what's really sick is the doctor that makes a lot more than the average worker thus there is a considerable income gap. Some one with a $100,000 hospital making minimum wage will never pay that bill off. Prices going out of scope of the public market and price gouging in an effort to line ones pockets should not be tolerated. If it is all about insuring people, take the amount we already pay into SS and Medicare and automatically enroll everyone.
@justjulie37 however is govt allowed to take taxpayer dollars and compete in the free market and has govt been a good steward of fiscal resources. I wouldn't trust anyone at the Federal or State level that are not consistent in enforcing the laws on the books. It's a corrupted process and I'm tired of seeing grossly overpaid politicians that have demonstrated a very poor performance record over the decades. This country is far from where it really needs to be and it is not just healthcare.
