Folks like to rag on Poison, and believe me I understand - they've brought a lot of it on themselves. But I will stand behind the fact that this is one of the greatest song ever made.
Folks like to rag on Poison, and believe me I understand - they've brought a lot of it on themselves. But I will stand behind the fact that this is one of the greatest song ever made.
the vet hes talking about in this song was his best friend and security guard who killed himself. his name was kimo.thats him in video starting at 1:48 to 2:25. great song
they beat this homeless man 6 cops he was homeless and had a mental illness his name was kelly he had a family he was a human i say hang those cops he deserved to live they had no right to take his life. you will answer for it those cops will answer for it
1% of the men and women in the united states are VETERANS ! 25% of the homeless in this country are VETERANS ! NO ONE IN THIS COUNTRY SHOULD BE HOMELESS OR WITHOUT A JOB ! ! !
You are right. No one should be homeless or without a job. But the government wants it that way so they, the government, can control us. Read George Orwells 1984. It will sit you up in your seat. Animal Farm is another good read (sorry, can't remember the author). Arm yourself with facts, not the fiction the media and government, feeds you, Citizen. We all have to fight to keep America alive. Don't believe the lies.
1:47-2:25 the whole crux as what this song is about. maybe his friend was in vietnam. walk a mile in another's shoes before ya pass judgement i spose :) nice solo by cc. one of his best on a poison song.
There are so many things in life that dissapoint us. Pain at every turn, disscouragment around every corner. We all need something to believe in. Change starts with us. Maybe our children will have something good, something true to believe in.
absolutely amazing lyrics....I believe that all of us already asked about what bret sings in it...I remember of hearing this song when my beloved father passed away in 2009....and at that moment, I really couldn't believe in nothing...and it still hurts a lot...
I love this song as much today as the 1st time I heard it back when it came out. I remember my overly religious mom asking who this was and it took me forever to convince her it was Poison. Great memory. Awesome song from a time when music was fun.
i remember hearing this song for the first time in years the day my grandfather passed away, after praying the night before that he would die in peace rather than continue to suffer in life. truly symbolic.
You say Justin Bieber, I say Justin Moore and go grow a pair.

Ok what I want to say when I say this video I gave my grand daughter a blue acoustic guitar. I also bought me a black one. What when through with his bodyguard is really sad. Maybe because of what I went through when my father died in this stupid war. What they had to go through is crazy. I totally hate the visions and dreams I go through for these soldiers. It just kills me and I am now staying something about it. Thank you Brett for what you did for your bodyguard.

they played this song as they laid my cuzin in the ground 3 year ago and ever since then i play it almost everyday it helps me see that there may be a silviier lineing
My dad and I first heard this song and video back in the 90's. We were watching MTV. He remarked that I should never give up on believing. He liked this song. This song is for my dad and for anyone else who loses sight of who they are and those that have helped me pave the way for the person I have become.
This song gives me the strength and power to keep on fighting for the custody of my daughter in AZ.. If I had to give a dollar for everytime I played this song I would have to give them a least $100,000.00... Thank you Bret Michaels and God!!!
@MrFoudaz You are fucking stupid, how can you love someone who killed thousands of Americans for religious beliefs. You are an ignorant bastard and I hope you drown.
I just respect bands like poison. They came up on their own talent and hard work. They werent formed by studio market heads like a lot of todays pop artist.
i have always loved this song. this is how great music used to be, but then our parents always told us that referring to their music. it's all relative. that is the great thing about music is it speaks to it's generation.
i think everyone can relate to this song some way or another for bret its a tribute to his friend its a just a realy great song one of my favs we all need something to belive in
The whole point here is that Brett LISTENED close enough to a past generation that he couldn't really understand, yet passed his 'understanding' of that on in his music so that the next generation would at least LISTEN and think. Thanks Brett, for giving them cause for thought and..... something to believe in.
@08scamp okay this if going to be hard for me, in my dream I saw my father dies in this stupid war. He was shot in the head when he was shaving, it was a vietnam spider a fucking little man.
@08scamp Unfortunately... not everyone listened, there are still those who spit on returning vets, and those who wont even give a penny to the homeless, it's a sad time we live in... if only people listened, I try to thank every vet I see, you never know if that one thank you might keep them from leaping off the edge.
I agree 100% with you regarding our veterans. But the poor and homeless can over-come their plight. Yes, some are mentally challenged, but in the America I grew up in, we helped the poor and homeless. We honored our veterans. The America I see around me today is a phantom of what it was. STOP complaining about differences beetween old and actual music. NOWADAYS there are many rock bands which are excellent, NOT EVERYTHING is crap, ignorants..
I was a down and out porn actor when I heard this song. This song really helped me raise to up to my work. Having listen to this song several times I was able to get hard back to my work. Now I am on top on my work. I have gotten deep into my work now and I finally have to come to understand that i should shoot off at the mouth so much. I am thankful for a second chance.

When I was in high school my school showed this video in the auditorium during as assembly for the gulf war. That blew my mind.
Yeah, Bret Michaels was a really underrated song writer.
