This is an amazing goal. I've played against Univ this past season, and their Striker Micah is fast as hell along with that all state Athlete they have at defence. Its amazing that Newman could shut them down, but they pulled it off. Gr8 Goal tho.
The majority of soccer players cannot kick 75-80 yards in the air as this player did. Those who can rarely kick it with any accuracy. Those who can rarely kick it in the goal, if ever. So already, it's a highly, highly improbable goal. How many goals have you seen from 70 yards out? I've seen plenty of corner kicks kicked in.
Add to that it was a game tying goal in the last three minutes of a state championship game and it makes it all the more incredible. His team went on to win in OT.
i dont know many non pro players that can kick that far thats very true, strong legs that man has. still horrible goal i mean, the coach shouldnt allow a player to waste that set piece from there and the other coach should NEVER allow a keeper that caliber into a championship game lol that guys the wackest goalie ive ever seen he saw it coming from 70!!! yards out and couldnt even punch it our or like any decent keeper just hold on to that floater.
hahaha. goals like this come once in a lifetime?? because he backed up 20+ yards and the goalie not being that great (sorry to say) its not that impressive.. hell, a curved corner kick into the goal is more impressive.... anyone with a long ball can make that
This was a 70 yard goal by Guy Scoggin of Newman High School in New Orleans. The game was the 2009 Division III Louisiana High School State Championship. Down 1-0 with less than five minutes to play, Scoggin hit this shot from 70 yards to tie the game. Newman then won the game in overtime to become state champions.
Goals like this one come around once in a lifetime.
That is very harsh. You can hardly expect a 70 yard set piece to be a dangerous shot, and it went right under the bar. If Beckham did it everyone would be saying what a wonderful shot it was.
does anyone know what the longest goal record is for a shot to go in without a bounce?? This was 70 yds as shown by football field markers(60yds plus 10 yds endzone). I know this isn't the pros or anything, but curious to see if this is any kind of record
I was there.....This 70yd kick was done in a Louisiana State cup high school championship game...the long kicker's team was down 0-1 w/ 4 minutes left in regulation time....this kick tied up the game and allowed his team to win in OT...the kicker had about a 5 to 7 mph tailwind...pretty clutch shot I'd say
you obviously arent getting what im saying.. i agree soccer is a very challenging sport.. what i am saying is that it is easy to just pick up a ball and play... so basically, your comment is exactly what i was saying
not too amazing in my opinion - the shot was ok, though nothing special, but the kicker benefitted from the frickin retarded goalie. i mean: what the heck?!
This was a simple case of a kick that was not meant as a shot on goal which carried further than anyone expected. The goal keeper simply kept positioning himself, expecting the ball to drop and it never did. Nice kick though, 70 yards to the top of the post.
do you have any idea how hard it is to hit a 100+ mph fastball with a bat? do you understand how hard defensemen tackle in American football? i guarantee you'd get tackled once and never play American football again. you realize 250+lbs Americans who can run 40 yards in less then 5 secs play American football, right?
it would be like me saying soccer is easy because all i have to do is kick a ball down a field and into a net. oh that's easy. sounds dumb right? well, that's how u sound.
Soccer is an American sport. By that I mean, a lot of Americans play it. And by your own logic, how hard is it to sprint 110 yards and manipulate a ball with your feet, while a shitload of people try to trip you?
I love sports in general and play many of them and watch many of them as well. But you have to admit, the majority of sports are hand sports.. we use our hands to manipulate objects all day long since we are born... now try to do the same with your feet.. easier said than done.. trust me. Soccer is the most watched and followed sport on earth for a reason.
Sure american football is fun and 'tough' and entertaining when the players are actually playing. Which unfortunately only happens once in about 1 and half hours.
Lets face it, your idea of FUN is to have as many pauses as possible during a game. Hell the more commercials they got on tv while the game is on, THE BETTER!
'Watching a bunch of guys in gay looking shorts kick a ball around is very boring. Come watch an American football game where there's blood and guts and hard hitting and sweating and spitting and there's actually people sitting in the stadium.' watching a bunch of gay guys humping each other as they tackle one another to get a ball that isnt even spherical shaped is very boring. Come watch a soccer game where there's no sissies wearing armor while playing this pathetic sport.'
the reason soccer is the most popular sport in the world is because its the EASIEST sport to pick up. you can get any ball and kick it around with friends.. basketball and football take a lot more skill to just start playing. not saying it doesnt take skill to be good, but the early stages you can suck but still play with friends.. not so much in other sports we like in america
psss, yea right, It's a lot harder than you think! You really have to be conditioned. You have to run a lot, know how to pass correctly and time it right. know how to dribble, even running straight with a ball takes skills. Try playing soccer on a real field and you'll see. kinda like playing football or basketball full course.
You're the moron. First you say that the stadiums are never full then say "soccer is big in the rest of the world but in the U.S.A." Are you incapable of grasping the fact that soccer is the most popular sport in the world? The 2006 World Cup Final was watched by 716 million people compared to 140 million for the Superbowl.
Hockey is pretty low scoring. And I don't see how golf is "high scoring" or "hard-hitting", but it's pretty popular here. Just like you grow up liking the teams your dad liked, so do the actual sports.
Football takes the most physical conditioning but least skill except for the QB.
Soccer takes a good balance of skill and conditioning.
Baseball takes the most skill (hit a tiny ball at 90+ mph, throw a ball on target every time, catch a tiny ball in a large field, etc.) but least conditioning except for centerfielder and other positions where you must be fast.
Tennis takes the most technique. Physical conditioning is a major advantage.
Of course they are not the only sports, not even close. In fact, those aren't even my favorite. However, there is such a thing as a 500 character comment limit. I couldn't fit more than four sports. However, I have played Football, Basketball and Baseball for my high school team. I played soccer on a select team for a few years. If you would like me to continue listing sports I could but I doubt you'd like to hear what I have to say based on your reply to my first post.
u dont know shit about soccer,FOOTBALL SUCKS BITCH,bunch of gay faggots tackling each other, soccer is the most famous sport in the world except here in the US bcuz u fuckers alwayz like to be different and invent ur own fuckin sports like baseball nd fuckin football, ohh and you changed the name too, instead of calling it football like the rest of the world which makes more sense u kno u kick the ball with ur FEET,u actually name it soccer WOWW go fuck ur self
i played both, soccer takes more skill and conditioning.......football i played safety and reciever...u have set routes so it not that hard to know what to do and u get a break all the time...soccer no break always on your feet.....besides the highlight positions not much skill in football and with the pads u really dont get hurt it fun getting hit
Well, in soccer's defense (I don't play either), football is 5 seconds on, 1 minute off whereas soccer is 45 minutes on, 2 minutes off, 45 minutes on.

Not saying crap, but going with your train of thought, soccer IS easy...
I just have to kick a ball from one end of the field, into an huge rectangle with a net on the other end.
Every sport is easy when you break it down like that, its what happens in between the players that make it interesting, not the goals.
