Saw Carmel in Porto back in 88 and was my soundtrack for a few month's romance that winter - seeing them live was mesmerizing, NO OTHER band had such a rich and deep range, and gave us so much interpretation of their songs - original and sophisticated, Carmel McCourt will always be fondly remembered - its interesting though, I thought duffy's song was actually a Carmel cover first time I heard it?
I could never understand why she never made it big. When I think of the eighties and the fact that there was music like this which is almost forgotten its hard to comprehend. Then you have people like Madonna who are still big!! I don't get it.
Que pedazo de tema...Lo recuerdo muy bien , me encantaba bailar esta canción alla por el 87-88, es más la elejí para finalizar un desfile de moda...para acompañar a la modelo con un hiperfemenino vestido de novia.
i LOVE THIS SONG...i remember when this song was played on Newcastle Radio NSW AUSTRALIA on 2NX STEREO 1341 in AM STEREO and wow did it sound awesome the STEREO sound. I still have a copy of it and listen to it hehe.
thank u for posting this HILLCREST great track. I'm also a huge fan of the Legendary rocker band DURAN DURAN.
carmel's voice is pure and brilliant. people who rave about Duffy need to go back and discover the originater and the far superior and vastly underrated Carmel!
Thanks for sharing, i thought this music was also in the soundtrack of Kevin Bacon's movie "She's Having a Baby"....towards the end credits...didn't know Emma Thomson's and Alfred Moline's version though.
This isn't from any film, it's the video for the song, the clips with Emma Thompson and Alfred Molina werte shot for the video (another way you can tell it ain't from a film is by the way that in all their shots only they appear, no other characters at all, ie: a friend, the grocer, the milkman etc, they were in a film on their own for 90 mins?). Though nowadays they wouldn't do a music vid this long, when this came out they were barely known and probably leaped at the chance to do it.
Thank you so much for posting this. I've been searching for it on here for ages now. One of Carmel's finest moments. I used to DJ at around the time this was released and I had two 12" copies of it. By running one copy slightly out of sync with the other, the section of the song from 2mins in sounded like angels singing. But of course she didn't need any help, she sounds just gorgeous all by herself.
I can't believe I'm seeing this. I lived at 357 John Nash Crescent Hulme Manchester and received all Carmels Fanmail for months on end. What a fantastic voice. Where are you now Carmel? Such a pleasure to hear a real talent. Manchester was a wonderful place in those years. Hulme was such a shithole. How does something so wonderful come out of something so shite. The Salutation, The Spinners Arms, The Sydney building, The Cyprus Tavern - wonderful times - Carmel where are you?
I always love this song never known the name! Thank you so much I go to subscribe you!

Geweldig, zelfs na zoveel jaren prachtig om te horen. Zo'n ontzettend krachtige stem. Treden ze nog op in Nederland?

Dawes and Sigman did NOT direct this video. They wrote the song, about 100 years ago. Get it straight.
