Fantastic playing. It's on my favorite playlist. I would love to have an mp3 of this recording. How long have you been playing and how long did it take to learn?
@dmlaurent Hi there. I've been playing on and off for about 18 years. Didn't take too long to learn really, you just have to listen to the recordings of Jimi over and over till they get stuck in your head! Cheers, Geoff.
Man that is beautifully played with all the true subtlety of a season player who really understands the blues. Nice back up too ...simple and clean. Makes me wonder if the backing is a Kareoake version of the song and you just filled in the lead. I presume that you slack tuned the guitar because to try and play against Jimi in the recording he does it sounds in Bflat though its played in B. Anyway Beautiful Job!!
This is as close as anything I have heard so far, good job. I have been working on this for some time, but not even close. I wish I could find some tabs and cheat ha ha.
I so need a Strat. Bought a Les Paul and it is great, but man, I think i have Fender running through my veins cause you just don't get this sound through a Les Paul. Totally different sound.
Both guitars are fantastic. IMHO I think strats are more versatile. Also depends on who you grew up listening to.... Don't settle for second man. If you can't find the sound you want with your Les Paul, get a strat.
Beg, borrow & steal if you have to.
You'll just be trying to get a strat sound out of it
@bflat1973 i couldn't agree more. i'm a strat man all the way. started out on a strat, moved on to a couple teles and a les paul and ended up selling them for multiple strats. they're just the greatest guitars in my book, tone like no other with looks that are simply to die for. long live the stratocaster.
you should set that shit on fire brother. You are the white ass incarnation of Jimi Hendrix. Haven't seen a better cover on youtube. Check out badcatbrian for some stevie version of littlewing.
yes now my wright comment :D......so this is awsome and i have a question how did you loop up this song because in my opinion this is a very good micro.....pls answer because i want to make my own vids but my camera is too bad :( so how did you do that ?
Ok. I record the camera as normal but have a guitar lead running to my POD (effects unit) that records the sound straight into the laptop. Then I mute the camera sound and add the audio recording from the POD to the video file. Hope this helps.
Yeah True. Bad choice of words. Just wondering what the "No its not" comment below was in reference to. Just an insult? If it's bad, tell me what's wrong with it so I can get it better. :-)
Well that was great, bflat1973, thanx. I was out looking for the "echoplex" version but I can't seem to find it. Try finding a good singer who rolls his own songs. :) Have confidence - you can create your very own great classic!!
Nicely played. And hats off to you for recording your guitar nicely and mixing it in with the track. So many people just record the whole thing via the camera's mic. Nice feel too.
Cheers man. Ha! Not that much actually. I used to listen to this tune all the time when I was younger.... I think most of the licks are stuck in my head. :-)
Amazing cover! I'm playing Voodoo Child at my high school talent show in November, I'll make sure to get a video of it up here on youtube. The reason I picked Voodoo Child is so I can put both Hendrix's and Vaughan's solos into one monster cover.
Hey there. I grabbed a few tones from the line 6 website and tweaked them to my liking. It was a good start anyway to get close-ish. Hard to get the 'wall of marshals' sound from a little black box... :D
Haha yeah man know what you mean by that girl in the tanktop playing. When people arent into it it just sound like notes instead of sound. Yeah, the solo is one you have to listen to rather than read from a book. My solo isn't spot on to any version of Jimi's. I sort of half improvised a few bits. It's tricky to solo in 12/8 if you haven't attempted it before.. :D

perfect the only thing i can say is i would to love to hear more improv which i know you could do but still one of the best covers of red house you rock
Hey cheers! Yeah, to me, improvising over Hendrix is a little like Blasphemy! Still tryin to get Jimis licks soundin decent so when I meet him in the next world he doesn't diss me! Ha! Thanks tho. Will try and put a few more up with improv...
Cheers man, nice of you to say. Geez, never thought it was that good. That's blues for ya. Ya girlfriend leaves ya or ya dog dies and you play better guitar... go figure. :-)
Thanks again.Yeah, like a lot of people I started playin blues as my first 'style'. I'm influenced by Clapton, SRV, Hendrix etc. Now I really don't know what I like LOL! Got a little bored with blues and started discovering guys like, Tommy Emmanuel, Don ross, Andy Mckee etc.

But what ever you have time for. I really apperciate it if you could make any sort of a lesson. Awesome Job on the cover again. Rock ON.
wow thats very good, ur feeling is good aswell, i am learning this piece at the moment. i try do things by ear but i want this perfect so have u got the tabs for this?... again i stress good feel haha i am seeing 12 year olds try play this i mean? wtf they have no soul... peace
Tuning the guitar down half a step is a good start to get those bends sounding right. Then muck around with the minor and major blues pentatonic scales in key of 'B' (Actually B flat). You prob know this anyway. Cheers.
Hey there.Thanx. I had to make this one myself. Downloaded a generic Hendrix preset from the POD website and tweaked it a little to get the proper delay sound.
Look, I hope you don't mind but I stumbled on a pretty cool video and I wanted to share it with you. If you would like to check it out do a search here on YouTube for: girls rush of the wind that should take you right to it. You'll know it's the right video if the girl is in a bright green top.
Sorry I just got back. I was a little nervous thought maybe it wasn't your speed. I just admire anyone who can play better than me (which isn't hard). But truth is I dabble in arpeggios and noteplaying I don't know if I'd call anything I play "lead work" mostly I play chords so I know how much good playing takes. I do a respectable "Stairway" also "Silent Lucidity" (Queensryche) when I was young I played a lot of Hendrix. I can play "Hey joe" very well in fact it's how I always check my tuning.
Yeah, to be honest, I haven't shared a lot of music in the past because I was happy enough just to play. I don't think anyone is 'better' than anyone else. If you're really enjoying it and get that 'buzz' when you play something, that right there is what it's all abaout.
It does take a while though to stop playing notes and to start playing music.
Man! I tell you what! That there is some smokin' hot playing. I once had the pleasure of sitting in on a jam session. Just two good ole' boys. One on acoustic who also worked the rythm machine, the other on a baby blue strat. One of the songs they did was Red House. I remember it to this day. I got goose bumps when I heard your version because it is almost exactly the same and as far as I'm concerned it's as good as it get's!
The Buddy guy element huh? I didn't even think of that. I should listen to more of him. Yeah, I have that version stuck in my head from being in a car with only 1 cassette tape when I was growing up! Had to record it... Hehe :-)
Fantastic playing. It's on my favorite playlist. I would love to have an mp3 of this recording. How long have you been playing and how long did it take to learn?

Hey there. Thanx very much. Ah, no tab I'm afraid. worked it out by ear as well. Probably get it for you tho. Do you have guitar pro?
Leave me an email and I'll send it to you. Cheers, Geoff.

Tuning the guitar down half a step is a good start to get those bends sounding right. Then muck around with the minor and major blues pentatonic scales in key of 'B' (Actually B flat). You prob know this anyway. Cheers.

great tone... whats the pod's preset's config??
thanks!!
bdecimo 3 years ago
Hey there.Thanx. I had to make this one myself. Downloaded a generic Hendrix preset from the POD website and tweaked it a little to get the proper delay sound.

No worries.. well deserved! If you were here at my place here in the US, I'd have a nice tall one poured for you too!

Look, I hope you don't mind but I stumbled on a pretty cool video and I wanted to share it with you. If you would like to check it out do a search here on YouTube for: girls rush of the wind that should take you right to it. You'll know it's the right video if the girl is in a bright green top.

Thanx. checked it out. Not bad! She could get into a bit more though don't you think? She looks almost sad to be there...

I can play "Hey joe" very well in fact it's how I always check my tuning.
losteroni 3 years ago
Hey Losteroni.
LOL! re: the 'Hey Joe' tuning thing.
It's funny what you get used to hearing.
Far out man, I just use an E chord... :-)

You emulated the Buddy Guy element in Jimi's playing well.

Quality rendition of one the album versions.
Great feel and tone mate. :)

Thankyou for the kind words Guitarsthatkill.
The Buddy guy element huh? I didn't even think of that. I should listen to more of him. Yeah, I have that version stuck in my head from being in a car with only 1 cassette tape when I was growing up! Had to record it... Hehe :-)
