  • Fantastic playing. It's on my favorite playlist. I would love to have an mp3 of this recording. How long have you been playing and how long did it take to learn?

  • @dmlaurent Hi there. I've been playing on and off for about 18 years. Didn't take too long to learn really, you just have to listen to the recordings of Jimi over and over till they get stuck in your head! Cheers, Geoff.

  • This is obviously fake. You can clearly see the ghost actually playing it whenever he moves. Good playing ghost.

But seriously, amazing cover! Keep it up.

  • hey man you did a great job here and yes pod is great only You have to know how to work with it. Keep up the good work.

  • First cover I've seen where they are not just playing the notes, but actually feeling the music. Best wishes.

  • 2 people don't have a red house

  • The BEST version!!

  • nice tone and real nice playing

  • Fuckin' A dude, good jam! I wish I could've had that backing track for the video I did of this song.

  • Great sound, what amp are you using? congratulations by the way.

  • @carlosroj . Hi. No amp. I'm using a POD xt Live in this video. Cheers, Geoff.

  • Ahh...that was tasty. I love how you feel those notes that you play. Only way to play guitar.

  • Wow dude you are good.

  • One of the best Red House Cover I heard in youtube

You are a GREAT guitar-player Geoff

    From themanman42

  • super super cover. great sound

  • great!!!!!!!

  • Very Nice,,one of the best renditions imho..

  • Man that is beautifully played with all the true subtlety of a season player who really understands the blues. Nice back up too ...simple and clean. Makes me wonder if the backing is a Kareoake version of the song and you just filled in the lead. I presume that you slack tuned the guitar because to try and play against Jimi in the recording he does it sounds in Bflat though its played in B. Anyway Beautiful Job!!

  • Man your playing good.

    Thumbs Up =]

  • awsome

  • great cover.this is the real blues sound.:))

  • Superb feel .....sounds like Jimi :-)

  • Perfect sound.

  • best of it is the intro.......you don't hear or feel that blues everyday

  • nice tone man, good playing

  • man ! are you sure it is the pod xt live? damn well played!

  • Ha! Sure is a Pod xt live.

    They DO sound good man.

Just need to tweak 'em a bit. Thanks for that. G. :-)

  • That's the one. Thanks for watchin man.

Time for some new ones I think....

  • Awesome!

  • Glad you like it, Thanx for that. G.

  • Fucking good

  • Cheers man. :-)

  • This is as close as anything I have heard so far, good job. I have been working on this for some time, but not even close. I wish I could find some tabs and cheat ha ha.

  • Hey man.

Tabs aren't cheating. If you can play, no matter how you get there,.. you can play. Tone comes from the fingers apparently. :-)

  • I agree, but even the tabs I have found are wrong ha ha, it is a difficult song to learn. Even Jimmy did not play it like this live.

  • hey you played it so well, very nice version

could you tell me the model of your guitar?

by the way...sorry for my english x

  • American deluxe stratocaster.

  • Love the tone. Very nice. What are you using?

  • Hey there.

Deluxe American Strat. No Amp. POD xt live.

  • Eres bueno tio pero te falta fuego en tus dedos.Imitar a Hendrix es imposible pero sigue asi.

  • really soulful, nice!!!!

  • really good job, your sound is very nice!,

  • Damn Nice!

  • Thank you very much. :-)

  • can you post your effects? my tone is ALL fucked up

  • Hey man. Yeah, I'll try and find the settings.

haven't played this in a while. Don't know if I still have the patch! :-)

  • great job man!

  • Cheers bluesmann8.

  • just came back to this again, still exceeding 5/5

  • thanks

understand you very well... one thing is cover, and other is... CREATE...

    hope i wish create... hhahahha

    5* for you

  • perfect man !!

  • Thanks selracterim2.

I'm happy with it but I don't think it's that good.

If I had written it myself then i'd be happier!

I can cover other dudes ok but I can't write my own stuff to save myself... Oh well. I'll keep tryin...

  • I so need a Strat. Bought a Les Paul and it is great, but man, I think i have Fender running through my veins cause you just don't get this sound through a Les Paul. Totally different sound.

  • I know exactly what you mean. I think the same.

Both guitars are fantastic. IMHO I think strats are more versatile. Also depends on who you grew up listening to.... Don't settle for second man. If you can't find the sound you want with your Les Paul, get a strat.

Beg, borrow & steal if you have to.

You'll just be trying to get a strat sound out of it

    and always end up disappointed.

    Just my two cents...

  • Dude...I loved your playing on this....I liked that there were no vocals as I was singing with it.....enjoyed the shit out of it....ROCK ON BRO....

  • Nice one. If only I could sing I probably would have done the same!

  • @bflat1973 i couldn't agree more. i'm a strat man all the way. started out on a strat, moved on to a couple teles and a les paul and ended up selling them for multiple strats. they're just the greatest guitars in my book, tone like no other with looks that are simply to die for. long live the stratocaster.

  • Yeah man.

The thing has hardly changed from the 50s.

    Must say something huh?

    Viva la Strat!

  • Hey Geoff My Friend !!!!!

This is sooooooo great Man.... Soooo Great.....

I Love Jimi Hendrix and He loves You too I can tell You..... Faved Immediatelly........

    Your Friend Mange Of Sweden.....

  • Hi Mange.

    Thank you again. :-)

    Peace man,

    Geoff.

  • I love playing this song because you can just jam along and it sounds awesome, great cover!

  • Thankyou very much. Yeah, great song to muck around with...

  • That is some of the best guitar playing I've seen on youtube. Badass.

  • Nice one fineline122.

    Cheers for the ups.

    G.

  • you should set that shit on fire brother. You are the white ass incarnation of Jimi Hendrix. Haven't seen a better cover on youtube. Check out badcatbrian for some stevie version of littlewing.

  • Hehe. Cheers my man.

    Will check out badcatbrian...

  • Hey man.

Checked out that version of little wing.

Sounds cool but he's got Stevie playing in the background!!!!

Would like to hear just him playin.

I reckon he could do a good job of it....

  • heard this cover and went to click subscribe

"you have already subscribed to bflat..."

haha you must have done something else badass like a year ago.. ha

  • Ha! Yeah, I think I did and took it off again...

  • hey bflat..tech question..where did you get the backround music for your playing here of Red House..thanx

  • Somewhere within the purple fuzz I saw your almost bald head grow an afro! Nice man! Very much enjoyed that! Great tone too!

  • LOL! That's some funny sh*t. I almost spat my drink into the monitor. Thanks for that herc122.

You just made my nite. :D

  • just wondering if you use any audio recording software/inerfaces other than the pod xt if so which one

  • Hi there. Nope. Straight from usb to laptop.

The ASIO drivers of the POD work great for me.

  • Great job!

slap a vocal track on that!

  • :D If only I could sing...

  • yes thanks

  • yes now my wright comment :D......so this is awsome and i have a question how did you loop up this song because in my opinion this is a very good micro.....pls answer because i want to make my own vids but my camera is too bad :( so how did you do that ?

  • Ok. I record the camera as normal but have a guitar lead running to my POD (effects unit) that records the sound straight into the laptop. Then I mute the camera sound and add the audio recording from the POD to the video file. Hope this helps.

  • but this is not only a jam it's close to the same like jimi played it

  • Yeah True. Bad choice of words. Just wondering what the "No its not" comment below was in reference to. Just an insult? If it's bad, tell me what's wrong with it so I can get it better. :-)

  • great feeling ! YES !!!!

  • that was just beauriful man no homo

u did jimi well. great cover

  • Lovin' the tone man. Nice, clean, soulful playing too. Great job.

  • WOW!!!!!!!!

  • That is some of the smoothest, milkiest tone I've heard in a while. Very nicely done. You have a lot a soul in this one

  • Thanks for that SamTalmadge. Glad you like it.

  • Cool!

    note for note

    realy grace!

  • Thankyou very much. :-)

  • Well that was great, bflat1973, thanx. I was out looking for the "echoplex" version but I can't seem to find it. Try finding a good singer who rolls his own songs. :) Have confidence - you can create your very own great classic!!

  • NICE !

  • Nicely played. And hats off to you for recording your guitar nicely and mixing it in with the track. So many people just record the whole thing via the camera's mic. Nice feel too.

  • Very nice I love this song and you did it justice!!

  • Brilliant! Is most if improv?

  • no its not

  • Sorry what? You don't like it? This is just a jam man. It's not a professional recording. I'm just havin some fun.

If you're gonna flame at least add something constructive. Can you do better?

  • I wasnt sayin its bad dude... it was really good.. i dont konw what the hell that comment was

  • No prob. I just thought WTF? :-)

  • haha alright =)

  • Real nice my friend, I'm working on this song myself, it really is a great blues tune and you can play it!!

  • nice!

  • wow, very nice man. Very nice, how much practice went into that?

  • Cheers man. Ha! Not that much actually. I used to listen to this tune all the time when I was younger.... I think most of the licks are stuck in my head. :-)

  • superb.. watching your controlled vibrato, esp at 1:52, just gave me the chills

  • Cheers man.

    Love the username btw :-)

    Checked out your vids. Nice.

    More please?...

  • My computer is on reperation so I can't upload anything but I will upload in about a month

    //Richard^^

  • Wow couldn't do much better myself ^^

    Awesome!

  • Hey thanks.

    Do you play?

Checked out your channel and no vids?

Like to see some if you do... :-)

  • Best I've Seen On Youtube

  • Nice. thanks for that man.

  • this is great, but it would have preferred it if you played your own licks instead of an almost exact copy of the studio recording

  • Thanks. Yeah, it's a touchy one with Hendrix stuff.

I don't want to mess with perfection and put my own stuff in there... :-)

  • Amazing cover! I'm playing Voodoo Child at my high school talent show in November, I'll make sure to get a video of it up here on youtube. The reason I picked Voodoo Child is so I can put both Hendrix's and Vaughan's solos into one monster cover.

  • Wicked. I can't wait to hear it. Good luck with that.

I've always wanted to do a cover of Voodoo Child / chile (slight return). It will definitely be a monster cover!

  • very nice..! you played it with feeling 5*

i used a pod line 6 & a very cheap strat copy to cover this, check it out when you've 5mins ;-)

  • Cheers for that. Will do.

  • nice cover, i have a pod xt live too howd you get that tone?

  • Hey there. I grabbed a few tones from the line 6 website and tweaked them to my liking. It was a good start anyway to get close-ish. Hard to get the 'wall of marshals' sound from a little black box... :D

  • Nice cover. I like how you played it more or less note for note but still added your own style. Good work!

  • Thanks very much. Wish I could play Jimi note for note!

Ah well, this little white boy'll keep tryin.. :D

  • Haha yeah man know what you mean by that girl in the tanktop playing. When people arent into it it just sound like notes instead of sound. Check out this girl though, Ash Soular, her Eric Johnson cover od Cliffs of Dover is wicked, seeya round man you can expect my cover of Red house on here once ive perfected it ;)

  • Hey man. Checked out the Cliffs of Dover cover.

Yeah, much better. She's feelin' it more... Too many notes for me, but awesome nonetheless. :D

  • nice to hear this. the best cover and tone e flat good stuff 5 stars.

  • Cheers Mate. Glad you like it. :D

  • pod xt owns my digitech rp250 lol. Great tones all around, even though a lil bit processed :)

  • wow awesome tone!! whats ur secrect?

  • Hey Brian91145. No secret that I know of man.

A nice American strat helps. No amp though so does sound a little processed. Just using a POD XT Live.

  • awesome job .

Working on my own cover atm, and I think I am transcribing the same version that you have ;)

The timing in the solo is .... how can I put it ??? tricky ;) But you seemed to have that all under control ;)

top job. I think Jimi would be pretty happy with your rendition ;)

  • Cheers. Look forward to hearing your version.

Yeah, the solo is one you have to listen to rather than read from a book. My solo isn't spot on to any version of Jimi's. I sort of half improvised a few bits. It's tricky to solo in 12/8 if you haven't attempted it before.. :D

  • To the guys asking for a tutorial for this tune. My strat is not with me at the moment but I've just managed to 'borrow' an axe so I can do it. It's under way now. Won't be long. Sorry for the wait.. :-)

  • perfect the only thing i can say is i would to love to hear more improv which i know you could do but still one of the best covers of red house you rock

  • Hey cheers! Yeah, to me, improvising over Hendrix is a little like Blasphemy! Still tryin to get Jimis licks soundin decent so when I meet him in the next world he doesn't diss me! Ha! Thanks tho. Will try and put a few more up with improv...

  • this should have soo many more views, simply the best cover. u feel it

  • Cheers man, nice of you to say. Geez, never thought it was that good. That's blues for ya. Ya girlfriend leaves ya or ya dog dies and you play better guitar... go figure. :-)

  • Thanks again.Yeah, like a lot of people I started playin blues as my first 'style'. I'm influenced by Clapton, SRV, Hendrix etc. Now I really don't know what I like LOL! Got a little bored with blues and started discovering guys like, Tommy Emmanuel, Don ross, Andy Mckee etc.

  • My favourite blues song of all time, I gotta say you played it pretty well. A lot softer than Hendrix's version- almost Claptonny in style. Godd work (y)

  • great !

one of the best version of RedHouse on youtube, inklusive Gary Moore, Paul Gilbert, but its only my opinion*smile*

    You are very good guitarplayer

  • Thanks very much malmvai60. Wow.That's a pretty big comment. Pity I can't sing to save myself... :-)

  • fucking sweet! im learning this right now.

  • Yeah! The more people playin Hendrix the better I say! Good luck man. Will be doin a tutorial very soon... G.

  • fantastic..

  • Cheers! Love the username BTW. :-)

  • Nice. Tanks very much!

  • Did you ever think of making a lesson for this song. It's an awesome cover man. If you ever have time a lesson for the song would be sweet.

  • Wow, What a compliment. Thanks man. Umm, no. never thought of doin a lesson. Actually, I've never done a video lesson...

Which bits are you interested in?

  • Well like the intro, up until Jimi comes in singing. And then maybe the solos. The intro would be fine though. But maybe you could put a close up of you playing the whole song in slow motion besides the lesson for the intro or solos. Maybe if you want to make a less on for the whole song that would be SWEET!!

But what ever you have time for. I really apperciate it if you could make any sort of a lesson. Awesome Job on the cover again. Rock ON.

  • Hey Born2FlyAndRock. Sorry for the late reply.

You know, festive season and all that...

Just to let you know, I'm without an electric at the mo. Soon as I get it back, I'll get the tutorial vid under way. Cheers. Geoff.

  • shot geoff :-)

  • Hey Josh. Thanx.

    Hey man, I didn't know you were 21? :-)

(I checked out your youtube page!)

    Peace,

    Geoff.

  • he is the guitar teacher at my school. Redcliffs. Jimi Hendrix is back

  • Thanks very much, nzkiwifromnz!

  • wow thats very good, ur feeling is good aswell, i am learning this piece at the moment. i try do things by ear but i want this perfect so have u got the tabs for this?... again i stress good feel haha i am seeing 12 year olds try play this i mean? wtf they have no soul... peace

  • Hey there. Thanx very much. Ah, no tab I'm afraid. worked it out by ear as well. Probably get it for you tho. Do you have guitar pro?

Leave me an email and I'll send it to you. Cheers, Geoff.

  • Tuning the guitar down half a step is a good start to get those bends sounding right. Then muck around with the minor and major blues pentatonic scales in key of 'B' (Actually B flat). You prob know this anyway. Cheers.

  • I think you should do a little wing cover, it would sound great

  • Hey there. yeah, would love to do a Little Wing cover. I'll wait till I'm a little better at it I think... :-)

  • great tone... whats the pod's preset's config??

    thanks!!

  • Hey there.Thanx. I had to make this one myself. Downloaded a generic Hendrix preset from the POD website and tweaked it a little to get the proper delay sound.

  • Whoops. I've lost the settings! let me see if I can find it. If I can, I could email it you if you like? Geoff.

  • ok! it s just perfect! 5 star

  • Thankyou very much bilipe85.

  • Dude, great job right here.. I grabbed me a beer and watched this 3 times in a row. Love it!

  • Nice, cheers for that grep67. Glad you liked it!

  • No worries.. well deserved! If you were here at my place here in the US, I'd have a nice tall one poured for you too!

  • Look, I hope you don't mind but I stumbled on a pretty cool video and I wanted to share it with you. If you would like to check it out do a search here on YouTube for: girls rush of the wind that should take you right to it. You'll know it's the right video if the girl is in a bright green top.

  • Thanx. checked it out. Not bad! She could get into a bit more though don't you think? She looks almost sad to be there...

  • Sorry I just got back. I was a little nervous thought maybe it wasn't your speed. I just admire anyone who can play better than me (which isn't hard). But truth is I dabble in arpeggios and noteplaying I don't know if I'd call anything I play "lead work" mostly I play chords so I know how much good playing takes. I do a respectable "Stairway" also "Silent Lucidity" (Queensryche) when I was young I played a lot of Hendrix. I can play "Hey joe" very well in fact it's how I always check my tuning.

  • Hey Losteroni.

Yeah, to be honest, I haven't shared a lot of music in the past because I was happy enough just to play. I don't think anyone is 'better' than anyone else. If you're really enjoying it and get that 'buzz' when you play something, that right there is what it's all abaout.

It does take a while though to stop playing notes and to start playing music.

LOL! re: the 'Hey Joe' tuning thing.

It's funny what you get used to hearing.

Far out man, I just use an E chord... :-)

  • awesome

    you rock

the new zealands got talent judges have no taste

    brilliant hendrix interpritation

it sounds alot like the actual song that hendrix plays

    lucas and dom

  • GREAT TONE AND GREAT PLAYING ;)

  • Cheers losteroni. Comments like that keep me playin. I love it when music can take you back to a cool place... :-)

    Geoff.

  • Man! I tell you what! That there is some smokin' hot playing. I once had the pleasure of sitting in on a jam session. Just two good ole' boys. One on acoustic who also worked the rythm machine, the other on a baby blue strat. One of the songs they did was Red House. I remember it to this day. I got goose bumps when I heard your version because it is almost exactly the same and as far as I'm concerned it's as good as it get's!

  • those are the blues! well done

  • wow, really nice :)

  • Thanx very much StratFan93.

Will check your videos out very soon,

    Cheers,

    Geoff.

  • You emulated the Buddy Guy element in Jimi's playing well.

  • Quality rendition of one the album versions.

Great feel and tone mate. :)

  • Thankyou for the kind words Guitarsthatkill.

The Buddy guy element huh? I didn't even think of that. I should listen to more of him. Yeah, I have that version stuck in my head from being in a car with only 1 cassette tape when I was growing up! Had to record it... Hehe :-)

  • Very nice, mate!

    I'm impressed!

  • Cheers very much ricardomarliere.

    Do you play yourself? Geoff.

  • Yes. I've a video uploaded of "Red House" too.

    Peace.
