  • I was really drawn into this performance

  • Aaaaa i got some major chills at 2:10, so powerful. The violin is one of the most beautiful sounding instruments in my opinion.

  • Thank you so much for posting this, I really appreciate it!

  • You could climb this music right up into the stars ...

the perfect balance of fragility and strength ...

    *¬◊

  • @musicmatt09 Yes, I've heard the vocal version of the piece. It is truly a beautiful song. :)

  • Where did you get the clip of Bell's performance? I'd love to watch the entire performance.

  • Divine.

  • Guys this is not available for print exactly, it is but in a different key. He transposed it

  • His violin cries, while we cry along with it. <3

  • I'm sorry, this piece just does it for me. :) I have yet to hear anything more beautiful, in my opinion. He plays that violin with great emotion, it just leaves me speechless. :)

  • @skipperdoll13 Listen to it in original form - with voice.

  • I still can't find the music for the violin & piano version for this piece.. :(

  • im not sure when this performance took place, but i saw him in N.J. around 8 years ago, 3 rd row. He has developed greatly as an artist since then to the point where I have become very impressed with his artistry. This piece however, is played way to fast for my tastes. Listen to it being performed by Ponselle, or Anderson, or Chaliapin, it is taken much slower, and at a pace more appropriate I think for an elegy.

  • oper-

where is the fun in playing it exactly like everyone else?

  • Does anyone know where to get the sheet music for this? I want to play it for my solo-recital this year but I cannot find it anywhere..

  • same please tell me if you find it

  • BRAVO~~~真是太棒了~~

  • His style is unmatched. I would give anything to be able to play with such emotion, with such a power that would make a person weep.

  • The title of the album was definitely appropriate. It's like a new romance, when all you desire is to make love constantly. It sends chills down my spine.

  • @AmiableOrchid I agree with that. It's the epitome of romance. This piece, "Élégie: O doux printemps d'autrefois" just about does it for me. I listen to this piece constantly for the emotion that Joshua Bell brings to it. He's just amazing! :)

  • I looked up Bell after watching The Red Violin in my music class. His music is amazing. This is one of my favorite pieces he does. I hope that one day I might be able to play like him.

  • So did I!! When I heard him again on "Ladies in Lavender" and simply HAD to have more. I know elegies are melancholic, but I light up listening to this incredible piece.

  • Bell had stated that Elegie is his favorite piece to play .. and it shows. I love his sound. There will always be unhappy and mean people who must denegrate something in order to feel alive.

  • so beautiful. I wish I could play with as much passion has he does.

  • He plays sensationally beautiful. There's magic in his music.

  • Joshua Bell is an amazing violinist!! I can only dream of being as good as him. He is so into the song.Whatever song he is playing he feels the song's sorrow and joy. It takes a true virtuoso to do that!! His emotional songs bring me to tears every time!!!

  • Lol someone's getting mad, I never understood what people had against Bell! Hes great and much better than a lot of modern violinist (Not all, but some).

Hes amazing! And i doubt that vicicous Callousness is better.

  • Here's my take.

In the Golden Age of Violinists 1880-1950 violinists focused on technique mostly and were very educated about the violin and people liked to listen to that kind of style.

In modern days however technique isn't of main concern and its more the expression. This is why Joshua Bell is such a big hit among people because they like the expression and emotion. However if you are looking for technique Joshua Bell isn't the best candidate even though he has an amazing sound.

  • I completely agree, I wouldn't say he's the best technichally. but I love his expression and emotion.

  • Can you play better?

  • I LOVE LOVE LLLLLOOOOOVEEE THis piece!!!!!

  • Beautiful!
