Couldn't it be hormones in our food that's making us gain weight? Animals are being engineered to get bigger faster and faster and faster...it isn't natural. I have nothing against eating meat per se, but agribusiness practices are nothing short of nightmarish.
the average American eats less fat than they did 25-30years ago yet obesity has increased hugely. Ever think it's not the fat? You should watch the Documentary FatHead which take on SuperSizeMe's claims. It really makes Spurlock look a bit stupid.
You eat to live, you don't live to eat.. And if you really feel like eating that shit, think about the higher goal that demands you don't, such as having a leaner, healthier body.
@bleeddieagony) and(SSJkiller ) Im a vegetarian that plays the PS3 a lot my acount is (petchickensrule) I also watch TV a lot AND I use my computer a LOT! . Then after a long day of hard work using my PS3,TV and computer,I prepare my self a vegetarian wopper! ^_^ yum yum with so many unhealthy fries , fried carrots and brocoli yumyum thats real food then after that I go back to work Using my PS3, Tv and computer. So being a vegetarian is very healthy, and I recomend it, I became veg 1year ago:)
There are chemicals in the foods that are the source of the cravings. Go a month eating only non processed fresh real food. Bet all your cravings are gone. :)
I haven't eaten fast food in 2 years and whenever I'm hungry, a burger from a fast food joint still feels like the most appealing thing to eat. It sucks =/
just a small thing i noticed: it's interesting that around 4:50 when you mention Homeros and his works you say: "if you've ever seen the films..." and not "if you've ever READ THE BOOKS..." ;)
Come on already! Fast food has been around for decades. People have consumed cookies, candy, cakes and fried treats for eons. Nowadays people have become much more inactive. Indeed obesity is a growing problem. And why is it? Don't blame fast food, tasty snacks and soda so much. If adults and especially children were more physically active obesity wouldn't be such a major issue. Even as little as 20 years ago obesity wasn't as much of a problem. People need to be more active, PERIOD!
I think the problem is far more complex that activity. In fact I think I said in the lecture that there is no way to directly connect fast-food with obesity... it's just an interesting correlation that the rise of what we know as fast-food (i.e. entire meals not just snacks) also sees a rise in the obesity rate in America.
Well I think that people are eating more of it, and there are more stores now, also, it's a cumulative effect. You should look into High Fructose Corn Syrup that is used much more now and is in everything. That wasn't used before, and much less so a decade ago. The body doesn't know what to do with it so it stores it as fat. Check it out.
Typical fast food is generally less healthy than most any type of food ever in human history... especially considering that traditionally, humans were hunter gatherers who ate primarily nuts and berries. Even today in fact, in non-industrialized counties a cow for example is much more valuable for its milk and cheese (and is only slaughtered at the end of its life) than to simply be breed for the slaughter. The American meat-laden diet is not normal for the human species. Just do your research.
@300palms do you realize how much physical activity it would take to work off even a children's happy meal? I agree that people are much more sedentary than they have been in previous generations, however, the amount of fat and calories consumed by children and adults alike through the consumption of fast foods is nearly insurmountable through physical activity alone. Avoiding fast foods and eating sensibly is a much more sensible option.
"hey if jesus is coming back he isn't going to destroy some fast food joints"
Well...one thing is for sure...If a 2000 year old unemployed, probably gay , Jewish carpenter comes back to life shooting lazer beams from his eyes and fireballs out of his ass like they say. It will indeed be the end of the world.

it's not a complex book - it's a speciously researched piece of shit. these liberal goons don't think people can be responsible for themselves. the book tries to blame everything on fast food. he brings in the military, etc. it's incredibly stupid.
"because people can't be responsible for themselves when they're being brainwashed into making the wrong choices (i.e. advertising)"
That's quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. It isn't "brainwashing" it's advertising. Should advertising be outlawed? Why isn't everyone addicted to fast food if they're brainwashed? Is anything anyone's fault. You are a disgusting person afraid to claim responsibility for yourself.
Some people disagree. Why not advertise alcohol and tobacco to your kids, they're the ones that keep that industry going? It sounds like you were born to know the difference between peer pressure and the right thing to do.
Get a job in marketing and tell me you didn't change your opinions.
Sugar= biggest cause if obesity. Starch, wheat and cereals are full of refined sugar.

How do you cope with the food cravings, though? Aside from will power, which most people have absolutely none of.

but humans need meat. You are not healthy if you just eat vegetarian food.
and if you just eat vegetarian, then you need vitamin pills..The meat got vitamins you need, and meat is natural for a human body;)
but you don't have to eat fast food! thats not good.

Blame it on the high schools. No they can't do this calculation without a calculator.
