what does it mean when ther are multicolourd virtical lines going down the left hand side of the screen when i turn my laptop on? green/purple/yellow lines... they dissapear after a while but theyre annoying. any advice?

I have this laptop and I find that the screen randomly kind of flickers, and sometimes it slowly goes dim and then comes back to normal. Its not a flickering on/off, its just a faint flicker in the back ground

@damicore if it's a LED screen, there will not be an inverter

@damicore 80% chance the screen itself, 20% chance the motherboard. Only way to find out is to try a new screen.

@ScreenSurgeons ugh, couldn't it be a loose cable or something? although it doesnt flickr as I move the screen... another screen for a just 1 year old notebook, they didn't seem to see the problem at the acer support when I took it there for repairment :(

my acer 5742,sometimes changes its screen color for 5 sec,if i refresh the page, the original screen color comes back,,this happens 2-3 times a week.......tis means am i supposed to change the screen?
