  • Paleo on one end, Zone Paleo on the other? LOL Sounds like all she has is a hammer so everything looks like a nail. Truth is that a healthy, plentiful diet for fitness and wellness is not torture at all. Perhaps after ignorant Americans exhaust all the fads (tho there is an endless supply of fads) they will look at this from a simple, logical, rational, and compassionate approach. For me it has made all the difference in my life, inside the gym and out.

    I found out about CrossFit yesterday for the first time and you know what it reminds me of? It reminds me of those people that climb Mt. Everest in order to find meaning in life.

    The exercises don't seem like anything more than a mix of what a professional football player may go through except packaged for non-pros. Rigorous, yes, but it's as if they are saying once you go through the training you're supposed to find some mystical "nirvana rainbow" at the end of the tunnel.

  • Hey if you want to weigh and measure everything you put in your body, more power to you. If you are worred about shredding seconds off of some time that you think is relevant and makes you "hard core" then that is your thing. Personally I like pizza and beer, but I also like working out hard.

  • At the 1:14 mark she uses the F word.  Unbelievably unprofessional, and one more reason I continue to believe Crossfit is a gimmick. As P.T. Barnum so incisively pointed out, there is no shortage of them.

    This woman is quite good looking. My problem isn't with her cussing.

    I think she doesn't fully understand the glucagon/protein/insulin relationship.

    People can do well initially with heavy meat intake, but long term, it becomes back problems, joint problems, bone density loss, kidney issues, gout, wrinkled skin, etc.

    Not only that but you are converting almost all your protein to carbs. This costs your body energy. This leads to fat loss 1st, then disease.

  • @blackbelt42boxer i read part of this stupid paleo book they loaned to me and i think it's a load of shit. for example, in the section on supplements, they recommend that i take FIFTEEN!!! fish oil pills per day! more than 4 pills risks bleeding to death in the event of a serious injury because the blood is unable to clot. i also don't buy this idea that whole wheat bread is bad for you. what hogwash. i can only agree not to eat TOO MANY carbohydrates, but all meat & nuts? bullshit.

  • @blackbelt42boxer Yep, and deny the existance of 10,000 years of evolution. I agree with the principals of paleo but to deny yourself and your body certian food groups because it was "unavailable to our ancestors" is retarded. People I met in rural Afghanistan essentially eat paleo and they all suffer from malnutrition. Like I said, the principals are very good, especially if you use it for selecting quantities, but there are just some things you can't get from the program.

  • You are what you eat! She's talking about what seems to be more of a low glycemic, Mediteranian diet... which is the way our bodies are maent to be fed!!! Way to go Crossfit!!!

  • I dont know... I come from a different school of thought. She's got some unique ways of illustrating things as well...

    but when you consider what 90% of gym members go for, its either "their own thing" or "I want to get in shape but dont wanna have to work". RARELY have I seen anyone who would agree to weigh out what they eat and keep a record of it... I cant imagine how you would market this strategy in a business sense... seems like commercial suicide.
