I talked with some FSP folks about this very thing this summer, Dave, and I'd personally go back to making silly short films and more non-political writing, and work on a feature film I've wanted to make for quite some time. I'd help two of my friends open up their own icecream shop (something the current beaurocracy/gov makes very difficult to do on a limited budget.) I'd probably, like you, stay active in all things liberty and freedom oriented, but just do a lot more nonpolitical stuff.
Wow if I ever got there.... I think I'd spend the rest of my days in the thousand yard stare mode........not sure if I'd be able to do anything else :-)
Great video, Dave. I am loving life in New Hampshire. If the governments were not able to harass me, I'm sure I'd find some great injustice that I'd have to fight. If the land around me had no tyrants, I might go fishing, read more novels, write novels, or just be novel.
If we were already in a "free" country, I would work to educate people on how bad it used to be, how we became free, and how the younger people need to continually be vigilant, to make sure tyranny never rears its ugly head again. I would help teach younger, upcoming liberty activists how to make sure we never have tyranny again. Oh yeah, and I would also do some volunteer work at church, some fishing, hunting, working out, you know, fun stuff ;-)
I'd go back into business for myself. I used to really love working hard, doing the best job I could do and making customers and employees happy. Being independent like that was the best. The excessive regulation, licenses, fees, audits, but most importantly, the constant fear of massive fines for violating ever-changing rules drove me out. The legions of bureaucrats eager to visit me and levy a fine didn't help either. Great video.
I would be permitted to live off the fruits of my labor and to stand solidly on my own two feet, with the love of God and his guidance, not waiting for some other shoe to drop, or a rug to be pulled out from under me. I would have a vision for my life without the fear of having to partake in the sins of this Satan-run world to accomplish it.
I would grow hemp and build houses with it. I would find a non-brainwashing school for my children. I would become a doctor and keep people out of the hospital.
I would OWN my land and my private auto mobile and there fore not need to pay one red cent in taxes on any of it, I would be a Sovereign Citizen in the Allied States and freely travel where I please with out a Tyrannical police state sneering in disgust at my wanton freedom of sharing my wealth of organic produce and natural grains to whomever I meet in trade for what ever I fancy or may require at the moment, whereby executing freedoms of a Sovereign Man of the Land!
Yhe federal government is simply to big to restrain at this point. I think all we can do is spread the word that it is an immoral institution that we would all be better off without and hope enough people understand that when it finally collapses under its own weight.
I mean most people are not ready to be sovereign. Not that I would stop them, just that it would take a while....And do you really think that if the Fed gave up power, most States would snap it up?

Wow, Ridley. That's a really stupid statement.
You mean a "free country" wouldn't have police? So you're talking about an anarchy. You're right, you wouldn't see anyone get arrested. You'd just see people stab and shoot each other if they have a problem.
You're a fucking selfish child. The US is more free than many other countries, and children like you take that fact for granted.
The USA is more free than most other countries. The USA also has an unquestionable trajectory of becoming more free over time.
Although Cheney and Bush did do grievous damage to our freedom, that is also unquestionable. Obama has done almost nothing to undo the harm caused by Bush II.
But you're right, anarchy is not going to improve our situation.
I'm glad you agree with me about anarchy. It's just really stupid.
People are simply not responsible enough to treat each other decently without the law keeping them in check. Situations like Katrina are evidence enough of that.
I just can't understand how anarchists or people like Ridley with anarchistic beliefs haven't thought this through.
Maybe they imagine life in the US will be akin to the planet Solaria from Asimov's Robot novels, where there are only 20,000 people on the whole planet and all land has been divided equally so no one has to come in contact with anyone else.
A lot of these people still believe that the "free market" will act as the great regulator and somehow magically govern everyone's behaviors and actions, and thus gvmnt won't be necessary.
But when you apply laissez faire free market capitalism to the business world it creates a disaster (like our current economic meltdown.)

treason; the offense of acting to overthrow one's govenrment OR TO HARM or kill its sovereign.. did takin' your job away cause you harm..? did takin' your job away and giving it to the Chinese cause our country harm..? "ensure doemstic tranquility" does takin' away our jobs serve to ensure domestic tranquility..? yes p00lan I know exactly what treason means..

do you trust your leaders and have faith in them..?
Did someone TAKE your job, or were you fired because your employer couldn't afford to pay you anymore? Or were you fired because you were such an incompetent employee?
Stop blaming the government for all your personal failings as a human being.
poolman, in a nutshell, the gov't (EPA) told the owners of the company I worked for that because they were tanning hides and using certain chemicals close to a water way that they'd have to pay money in fines per day OR move their company to China where they don't have the protective laws that we do, and as an added bonus the hides/leather you send back to the good ole USA will NOT BE TAXED COMIN' IN..
our maunfacturing base is gone poolman, don't you get it..?
hello poolman,is there anyone home..? the EPA put a chemical on a list on Tuesday that wasn't there on Monday.. the chemical didn't change in that 24 hour span, it was words changed by men that had an alterior motive..chemicals had nothin' to do with anything..it was policical manipulation that took our jobs and sent them to China against OUR consent.. Mexicans took our jobs without OUR consent..a place in W. Leb NH told me I had to speak fluent Spanish to work there.. HELLO!!!!!!
You should stop whining and open a Spanish textbook.
The government doesn't decide what qualifications private businesses should have for their employees. Again, you're blaming the government for your own lack of skills.
well, it appears by your comments you have no position, you're like the feather that goes in whatever direction the wind happens to be blowing at the time.. at 26, maybe you should continue your Japanese song gig cuz as a US Citizen you're a failure..I was born into an English speaking country and for your information the company in W. Leb is disobeying the spirit and the letter of thel I-9 form issued by the GOV'T and mandated to be filled out by the employer..I will not waste time on you..
The fact that our manufacturing base has been destroyed during the last 30 years is a function of "free" trade, not because of OSHA or EPA regulations.
Do you really think we should go back to the bad old days when business dumped barrels of toxic waste wherever they pleased in an attempt to lure back our manufacturing base from China?
it wasn't free trade at all that ruined our manufacturing base, it was the fact that we started dealing on a global scale against the spirit and word of the Constitution.. we refused to "trade" with companies with which we can't compete because they force prisonors to work, and children and are an abusive and corrupt nation..reduce our standard of living until the rest of the world catches up is a lame way to lead.. call me a sepratist but our Constitution says stay home and care of our people..
What you are describing as globalization is essentially free trade. I agree too, it should be illegal for American companies to move their operations to other countries that have no environmental regulations or labor laws.
Free = no cost or obligation.. free has meant free for as long as I've been alive.. what the illegal gov't does is take a word we all believe to mean one thing and they change the defination to fit their needs.. free and trade do not go together as long as their are import and export taxes in place..
Free Trade = trade where there is no cost or obligation.. until a short time ago we as a country and a People did NOT trade with people that didn't think like us because if we did
it would send a message that we condone what they thought, and did to their people.. a new group (mindset) changed the rules the Constitution setforth and we agreed to if you are a true American.. those that changed the rules and policy ditated by the Constitution in dealing with forgien countries are TRAITORS.. the Constitution dictates, strongly suggests, makes it Law that we "avoid entanglements.." it's treason, unless they change the defination of that too..
globalization is treason and not the intent of our founding fathers and at least 100Mil Americans think the same way I do.. be on the right side of the line when push comes to shove, my friend.. to allow companies from the USA to open up shop in corrupt nations and pay a person a bowl of rice to produce a product they sell in the USA for $100.00 is also a racket..if we can't arrest them for treason maybe we should arrest them and try them under the RICO Act.. you're on the wrong side of right
I think one of the most important things is to use free speech correctly and not use it as a means to harass others. It is important to have an educated youth and not allow an influx of people from other countries that are uneducated. If they can't come here legally their not educated enough to be in this country. The majority of the prison population are uneducated people that end up there. You may have been arrested in this country but that doesn't represent the majority or prisoners.
How is it right that a person can draw a line on a map and declare that if I move across it is no longer called moving, it is now called immigration and you have to jump through a bunch of hoops to do it?
I would use fireworks on the 4th of July again. I would save money for my children instead of sending it offshore to the Fed. I would ensure my children learned the Constitution in school. I would manufacture something useful and give people jobs and be a loyal employer with a family atmosphere.
Well, I'd be happy to teach you how to grow fine organic cannabis without lights, or chemicals, but it's not legal. Sunlight is free, and worm shit is free. Good seeds cost $, but if you start with shwagg seeds you can make improvements using selective breeding, and cloning. So, how bout y'all stick to creating a more free, and Utopian society........I'll bring the DANK!!!!
Nice job Dave. I am with individualism101, I would pretty much do what I am doing now...I just won't have to hide things from the gov anymore...it would just be PRIVATE! NOYDB!
The problem with the situation you describe is that very fe know how to have any personal responsibility. Without personal responsibility true freedom cannot exist.
You completely avoided kmikesell's point, which is that individuals generally don't act responsibly - like you and your petulant free staters.
You just want to be left alone, and for everyone to be left alone, but who will be held accountable when rapists, murderers, vandals, psychotics, and addicts run rampant?
Isn't it immoral to deny people their freedom just because you don't think they're going to be responsible with it? Maybe people would be more responsible if they didn't have big government there to babysit them?
You misunderstood me. I'm all for getting ride of a an oppressive Federal Government, and I think most people would behave. It would be intersting to see which states went to the left...and which ones would go to the right.
You think most would behave? In just the other Ridley vid, everyone is screaming about the importance of owning a gun due to burglars. Perhaps your small circle of friends wouldn't dream of harming another - but you really need to take a stroll down a city street some night in the projects.
Bravo - in order to be a successful asshole - you really need to progress to that next level by saying something NEW. Your usual MO has sort of lost steam. Otherwise - its like eh. Of course, it wouldn't hurt if you learned to write a little better too - but since I don't know you, and you don't know me I guess that really doesn't matter now does it? Wuss. Come and get me oh scary one. Go GRANBURY - WIN WIN WIN. Division 3 All states yay!
Do you think that a real education would help people achieve the level of personal responsibility you believe is required for the situation Ridley was describing?
there is no freedom in this country !!! but i refuse at any cost to bow down to ass-clowns who think they are special and can tell me what i can or cannot do... so, i have decided as a red blooded citizen born in the and striving daily to follow my only MASTER to remove myself from their system and live as a soul with GOD given rights on the land that has been passed to me from forefathers and if they want to change this, they can try... i fear no man and dont care what they think...

to grow good shit there will always be a pretty decent cost due to lighting nutrients ext.
anarchistassilum 2 years ago
Well, I'd be happy to teach you how to grow fine organic cannabis without lights, or chemicals, but it's not legal. Sunlight is free, and worm shit is free. Good seeds cost $, but if you start with shwagg seeds you can make improvements using selective breeding, and cloning. So, how bout y'all stick to creating a more free, and Utopian society........I'll bring the DANK!!!!

i actually had a worm farm growing for castings but i let them die

It doesn't cost much to build a small green house.

Nice job Dave. I am with individualism101, I would pretty much do what I am doing now...I just won't have to hide things from the gov anymore...it would just be PRIVATE! NOYDB!
cmcphee 2 years ago
I'd grow my business, buy a farm, buy a boat, open carry most places, and generally make my way in life.
Hell I'll probably do all of that regardless. The state just makes it a lot harder.

The problem with the situation you describe is that very fe know how to have any personal responsibility. Without personal responsibility true freedom cannot exist.
kmikesell 2 years ago
how about making the people in government exercise personal responsibility when they can get away with nasty things?
RidleyReport 2 years ago
You completely avoided kmikesell's point, which is that individuals generally don't act responsibly - like you and your petulant free staters.
You just want to be left alone, and for everyone to be left alone, but who will be held accountable when rapists, murderers, vandals, psychotics, and addicts run rampant?
p00lman 2 years ago
Isn't it immoral to deny people their freedom just because you don't think they're going to be responsible with it? Maybe people would be more responsible if they didn't have big government there to babysit them?

You misunderstood me. I'm all for getting ride of a an oppressive Federal Government, and I think most people would behave. It would be intersting to see which states went to the left...and which ones would go to the right.
kmikesell 2 years ago
You think most would behave? In just the other Ridley vid, everyone is screaming about the importance of owning a gun due to burglars. Perhaps your small circle of friends wouldn't dream of harming another - but you really need to take a stroll down a city street some night in the projects.
SSILENTNATION 2 years ago
That;'s right take the gun kill the citizens beat them down! What a violent slut and whore coward.

SSILENTNATION 2 years ago
Do you think the 12 years in government school has something to do with that?
FlailingJunk 2 years ago
OH yes...we are all a little brainwashed!
kmikesell 2 years ago
Do you think that a real education would help people achieve the level of personal responsibility you believe is required for the situation Ridley was describing?
FlailingJunk 2 years ago
define "real education"
SoapBoxIdol 2 years ago
Replace with "better education" if you prefer.
