when you respond to a call you aren't focused on any other sounds but the radio. you get in the zone for driving and that really grabs all of your attention when you weave in and out of traffic. ;)

If I am correct the sirens sound damaged because it is playing the siren for ambulance and fire at the same time...which creates for a rather odd sound.
