is a dutch braid also known as a french braid

@GleekGabbie no the french braid is done by braiding the outter two strands over the middle section when braiding the dutch braid you braid under the middle strands. It makes quite a difference in the look of the braid. The french braid look an inverted braid. the dutch braid sits on top looking 3d effect.

Is there an advantage in adding hair to the middle strand (after you placed the outer strand in the middle) in contrast to first adding new hair to the outer strand and then putting everything to the middle? Or is this just your way of doing it without advantage?

It's not about braiding dutch or french style but WHEN adding the new strand to another. Lilith adds to the middle strand after she put the outer strand to the middle.

I learned to add to the outer strand, then cross this to the middle.

Result is the same, i am just wondering wether there is any disadvantage of my way ;)

@Jeanne4everfreak I had to teach myself how to braid because my mom never knew how. I started about 12 years ago (pre-youtube!) So I had nothing to help me! But when I would be watching tv or a movie thats when I would practice. also check out torrinpaige on youtube. she has very long hair. My hair is to my armpit and I can alter her styles to fit me most the time. Good luck!! Keep practicing!!
