Most P&T fans are content to allow that the footage was edited, it is normal to edit down footage to fit the format of the show, and the people who P&T are trying to make look foolish support the claim.
I think those are adequate, but if it is your contention that it wasn't you're free to ignore that one point.

"some basis in fact" is hardly a position to take a stand on an issue like this. If you're going to do pretend research, at least use credible sources. Penn & Teller have been wrong more than a few times, but at least when they're called on it, they do what they can to fix it. This sort of conspiracy crap is exactly the reason why we need more shows like BULLSHIT.

I have done research on the controversy, and I found that the kind of tactics employed by Penn in this segment are not enlightening and make debunkers look bad by blatantly lying about the book they attack.
Had they even done a minimally even-handed report there would have been no reason to expose Jillette for the poor job he did.

Just for a change of pace what if it was and you did have proof? Nothing would change. Yes people would be upset and condemn the government for that day but there wouldn't be any civil war, any uprising or even anyone responsible going to jail for that event. Of course the videos were edited as are nearly all interviews in any form of media, but there is enough uninterrupted footage available in the show of these two nutjobs to prove that they are completely insane and have no valid points. It's rather ironic for a Truther to criticize P&T for not jamming a ton of scientific data into their 1-hr show (for TV generation consumption), when the Truthers scrupulously avoid facts they don't like and cherry-pick little snippets they do.
Temps inside WTC were 1600-1800F since office fires usually burn that hot or more. Jet fuel STARTED it, contents were the main fuel.
Steel warps, twists much lower than that, busting bolts & welds, and at 1800F loses almost all its strength.

Steel is what was holding the buildings up, & though AIR TEMPS were high the STEEL was NEVER proven to have gotten hot enough to compromise its strength.
Steel GRADUALLY loses its strength when heated - not exploding like the WTC towers.
The steel below fire zone was never heated, no reason for itm to lose all its strength.

The office stuff like tables, chairs, paper ect was the only thing burning in the building. It is true that steel does not burn like that. However, wood alone is easily capable of heating steel till weakness - As it did. And the steel DID gradually lose it's strenght. Remember, there was an entire floor removed, so to speak, so alot of weight was on the remainging steelcolloms, which, coupled with the heating of the steel over a period of time, collapsed.
