shanklinmike and vandaliegh you guys are right!! mccain and obama will spend too much, and will throw the country into horrible situations. bob barr if elected would pay off the deficit and not ever let money get spent like that again. he would also give back all of our violated civil liberties and give us much more rights. i voted for ron paul in the primary and barr is the closest thing. he was man enough to admit that he was wrong to oppose marijuana. no one elses admits when they're wrong.
He's a conservative pretending to be a libertarian. Well, the Libertarian party doesn't need to be more conservative, it needs to be more libertarian.
How can anyone who supported Ron Paul NOT support Barr!? Like him or not in November you will have two choices, McCain/Obama or Barr. This should be a no brainer.
I am witting in "Ron Paul" -- I won't vote for Barr - (check his record) he changes his stripes to fit the condition - absolutely no credibility whatsoever - looser. McInsane is a liar, cheat, and traitor to the republican party to say the least and Obama is a turn coat liar -- both are IMF/CFR patsies -- all 3 have never supported civil rights or our constitution and they all talk out of both sides of their mouths. Barr is a liar -- he is NOT a libertarian and has never been one.
Hi, just wanted to let you know that Barr was against the Patriot Act from the beginning and the only reason he voted for the Patriot Act was so it wouldn't be permanent. Very important you read! Don't just vote, vote with a cause.....otherwise, stay at home and enjoy the day. It would be better than voting for one of these two war, loss of liberties, high tax candidates! Instead vote for libertarian Bob Barr and make your voice heard! Barr will be on all 50 state ballots and write-in votes are thrown away!
I should mention that Obama's foreign policy team will be Clintons old team. which doesn't seem bad at first until you find out the kinds of things the members of that team say on video and in the books they write. They sound just like McCain and when it comes to Iran. So regardless, expect rough relations there. But McCain is a sure in for our Third Consecutive, Simultaneous War. Afghanistan, Iraq & Iran.
"In a race this tight" more Fox spin--Obama is ahead by about 10%. Good for Barr speaking out vigorously against wiretapping, but I'm a Ron Paul supporter, and I'm going to the Obama camp. Anybody but warmongering, Bush-supporting McCain.

Being a Libertarian does not mean you are a liberal. Liberals are pro social liberalism, Libertarians are pro LIBERTY! Which is personal freedom. He is pro states-rights which means on social issues, it is up 2 the states to decide. Just like Ron Paul is. RP is a social conservative as well. Pro guns rights and pro states rights on abortion, though personally not in favor of it as he is a doctor.

Stupid me I guess but w/ CNN I expected more than listening to t guest being belittled for not being in what t interviewer considers t big league. This guy sounds like he belongs on FOX. And he shows his stupidity when he makes a big point of inviting all 4 pres candidate to come on. Like there are only 4. For every issue out there, there will be a candidate.PETA and t nudists to name just a couple. Not to mention that I would write in my mom before I voted for either Republicrat
Bob Barr thinks that perverted sickos who make "crush videos" that show pets being tortured to death should be legal. That's one of the reasons why he lost his next election.
SHAME on the Libertarian Party for embracing such a depraved little worm!
Baldwin is better than Barr, but I'm voting for Barr because Baldwin is not going to make an impact and Barr will. I am still voting for the majority of my ideals on Barr though, which is good enough.
Actually, Baldwin has a better chance of winning. Barr will never get middle america. He'll get 10% of the vote, and everyone will call that a victory. But we will still have a NWO president. Chuck Baldwin can get the middle american vote, that the libertarian Barr, will never be able to get.
oishiiloops, Ron Paul has not endorsed anyone at this point.
Now, I know some Baldwin supporters seem a little frustrated at Barr, but we can't have a divide. Barr is the 3rd party candidate who has been getting the most media coverage and who's image hasn't been tainted by the media (like Nader's). No candidate is going to be perfect, but Barr has a good agenda and I'd feel a lot better with him in the white house compared to Obama or McCain.
I can't stand people who believe that they only have TWO choices: Sen. Obama and Sen. McCain. Some of these people decide not to vote at all. Why not vote for a third party candidate?
They'll invite him on the show.... but will they invite him on the debates where he'll get the most coverage?
And for those of you saying Baldwin will be a better choice: Bob Barr will actually be on the ballot in almost every state! Which means we need to throw aside our petty little differences and get behind one single candidate who will end our 2 party system. If we don't, all our votes will be split, and we'll make no difference. Let's get behind Bob Barr this year, folks!
It was great to see Ron Paul get strong grassroots support in the primaries, and it's great to see Bob Barr running a third party campaign and already polling at 6%. I support limited government and civil liberties. I'm voting for Bob Barr. And Bob Barr is not stealing my vote. I would not vote at all if McCain and Obama were the only choices.
Barr seems to be getting a lot of media attention lately. Nader isn't getting nearly as much coverage as him.
I wouldn't be surprised if by november McCain's chances of winning are pretty much zero, with all the money that Obama has and with Barr now moving up in the polls (Zogby has him at 6% nationally). If this happened it would be great for the Libertarian Party, because all the small government people would realize that they're just completely wasting their vote going with Mcdouchebag.
Ha Ha Bob Barr expect Ron Paul supporters to you? NEVER. Voted for Patriot ACT, so as bad as CFR member. So Dream on Bob Barr. Yes he is flip flop! He is just trying to "profit" from Ron Paul's Stands.
For the last time...Ron Paul advocates finding other candidates like him. If Bob Barr isn't your cup of tea, vote for Chuck Baldwin. To my knowledge he has Ron Paul's support if not an actual endorsement.
He left the Republican party in '03, and joined the Libertarian party in '06. RP wasn't running until 2007, so Barr clearly isn't just about riding RP's coattails. I think he had a real change of heart. I think he, like many Americans, woke up after the destruction of the constitution by our current president and congress... I know I did at that time.
Writing in RP won't be counted. That's your right, but I would at least consider voting for someone with a pro-liberty message (Barr or Baldwin).
He might be a better choice in theory, but in practice he cannot get anywhere near enough coverage or votes to make a difference. Barr represents our best chance to make a splash that threatens the 2-party system.
In other words, this vote is not about Bob Barr. It's about rocking the boat and changing the political landscape forever.
Barr does great despite having to endure more idiotic questions from interviewers. He suggested that Barr is calling himself a 'real Republican'; Barr hasn't been a Republican for years. It's to Barr's credit that he shines even when asked idiotic questions.
You know what bothers me with 'party' mentality is that the extremists seem to dictate what the definition of a "true" (insert party name here) is. There is no such thing as a perfect candidate and there is no such thing as a true party icon that will satisfy all the people in it. Barr/Root is the Libertarian candidate deal with it. I was once a republican but like Barr I was disgusted in the party power grab and the constant compromising just sickened me. I WANT SMALL GOV'T!!!
One of best interviews yet. Email CNN and ask them to have Nader and Barr on weekly. America needs to hear other views by men who will be on the ballots.
Barr is now polling at 6% ! Yeah, he's made mistakes in the past, but has fortunately seen the light and wised up. If I recall correctly, he endorsed Badnarik in 04. Barr's got this former Ron Paul supporter's vote! 08 - year of the Libertarian Party!
All of you who sent Ron Paul money wasted every penny if you are not going to write in Ron Paul...
How can Paul supporters flip as soon as the media or anyone including paul tells them to?
If the elites can present you with an ex-cia agent and you go for it you have some real issues. I guess the flouride works because you are some passive ass son of a bitches.
RP4409, Are you going to write in Ron Paul for the rest of your life? You really need to grow up.
Do you really think Ron Paul is going to write his own name in on the ballot this November? lol.
You obviously don't give a damn about what Ron Paul says because he supports Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr's campaigns. He's NOT writing himself in! Accept it and remove the wool from your eyes. Ron Paul has ended his campaign for a reason. Wake up!
I agree. Barr is an opportunist. He uses the Ron Paul following for his personal gains. If people want true change they need to vote for and support somebody who does not compromise, one who follows the philosophy of true freedom, liberty, and free market.
Bob Barr is the one to vote for if you want real change. It's time to show the Dems and Reps that they don't control the system anymore! Vote Barr 2008!
Bob Barr is a phony. One who votes for the patriot act is not a pure libertarian conservative. A true libertarian conservative will always support liberty over fear. GO RON PAUL - as pure as they come.
In most cases, when a politician changes his mind/opinion on something, I'm cynical and thinking it's about trying to keep his power or look more attractive to certain groups. But in Bob Barr's case, that cannot be true. You don't go run as a Libertarian candidate if you are interested in winning/power. That's why I believe Bob when he says he was wrong, and now sees that.
Like the mistakes was minor, that shows the level of importance about your FREEDOM in his heart.
Wake UP! Politician make mistakes will have serious consequences.
Also Politicians will never make mistakes, every move are carefully calculated with what are their benefits. He is trying to get Ron Paul supporters vote. Whoever vote for him, ought to get yourself further educated!
There seems to be confusion between "conservative" and "libertarian".
They are not the same thing. A few (just a few) of their beliefs overlap but libertarians overlap with liberals just as often. I would suggest that anyone who is confused about the difference in conservative libertarian and liberal ideas should read Liberty Reclaimed by Jim Lewis. Its a small book of less that 80 pages and it clearly shows the difference in ideology.
Conservatives an libertarians most certainly were the same thing until the neoconservatives took over. There is very little overlap with the democrats. The war is about the only common ground, and that tends to be a function of partisanship, not ideology. In fact the democrats' ideology is much more likely to promote war in third world nations.
Read Liberty Reclaimed by Jim Lewis. Its like a $6 book and it will open your eyes.
After you read it, if you still believe that way we can talk. Or you could go to the Mises Institute and learn the origin of Austrian Economics and the birth of libertarian thought.
Until then we are just going to go back and forth with a yes no argument.
I'm more than familiar with the Austrian school and Ludwig, in fact I have the Mises Institute in my subscription list. Free markets used to be totally accepted by both conservatives/libertarians. Hard currency is the only difference...and I can find you plenty of bonafide republicans and libertarians alike, on both sides of the hard money issue. It's ridiculous to give Menger and Mises total credit for spawning a movement that had been alive at least since the revolution.
You said Conservatives and libertarians are the same thing. There have been many libertarian leaning conservatives like Reagan and Goldwater. But that's different from libertarian
You said "It's ridiculous to give Menger and Mises total credit for spawning a movement ..." I never said that. I said you can read about its birth and I meant their web site not videos
It seems that you're just looking for an argument
Until you read the reference I used its silly to continue this stupid discussion
"A few (just a few) of their beliefs overlap but libertarians overlap with liberals just as often." This is the statement I take issue with...and I'm totally correct in my assertion that modern libertarians are probably about 90% of what conservatism used to mean. They have almost zero to do with the modern liberal(or for a more descriptive term progressives.)
OK...How is that very different from what I've said?
Libertarians exist at the political right. Whether or not the major party that most closely represents that view at the time consider themselves conservative or liberal is a moot point.
I suppose you can hand out reading lists instead of arguing your point effectively, at least they are good authors. But it doesn't change the fact that you are the one who appears to be looking for an argument...why not argue it?
Libertarians are on the left. The terms come from the side the party sat on in the French Parliament during the Revolution. The Classic Liberals, what American Libertarianism was know as, sat on the left and the Conservatives, or State Loyalists, sat on the right.
Well heaven forbid I use the terms as they exist today. That very well may be where the term originated, but the way the terms are used in modern America the left argues for more government and the right argues for less government. It's incredibly simple. That's the common usage. And by that standard libertarians exist on the far right. Most republicans do not.
Both parties are progressive and have no issue with using government.
FYI harryogre is one of these youtube jackasses who believes what he believes because he believes it. LOL Figured I'd quote him and change the name. Sounds stupid.
If he's right, why can't he argue his point effectively? Why must he rely on personal attacks and not one iota of actual information?
So do I assume you are ignorant? No, you actually brought some facts to the table. I know, without a doubt that harryogre is though. He started a discussion he couldn't finish.
Conservative vs Liberal has to do with how radical the party is, that is how different are the policies from the status quo. Conservative policies favor the status quo; Liberals enact more drastic changes. Libertarianism was radical when Feudal Mercantilism was dominate is Europe but became a Conservative philosophy when America established a widely Libertarian society and Socialism and Communism began to threaten that system.
bighitter42 appears to be one of these YouTube jackasses that just wants to go on and on without actually looking up any facts. He believes what he believes because he believes it and assumes other people are just as ignorant as he is.
This Die Hard Ron Paul supporter is Voting for Bob Barr and going to switch to the Libertarian Party and might even run for local or state office in Florida as a Libertarian Ron Paul Bob Barr Candidate in the Future. hahahah. Liberty !
Then I hope there aren't too many Die Hards. Voting your conscience is a good thing in theory, but there are just too few of us small-gov. independents to split up our votes between Bob Barr, Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin and expect to have ANY future impact on American politics.
I agree with that. I wish he had said "I HOPE Ron Paul supporters will vote for me." Even if you really DO expect it (and given the other choices, I would too), don't say it out loud dude! That just comes across as arrogant.

But one of the cable networks (C-SPAN, CNN, MSNBC?) had a 3rd party candidate debate in 2004, and probably will again this year.

I don't like Bob Barr but I am going to vote for he anyway.
k4x9 3 years ago 2
I was an avid Paul supporter, now working hard for Bob! He's the best choice on the ballot, IMHO, and write-ins are almost never counted. Go Barr!
jgmaynard 3 years ago 3
All of you who sent Ron Paul money wasted every penny if you are not going to write in Ron Paul...
How can Paul supporters flip as soon as the media or anyone including paul tells them to?
If the elites can present you with an ex-cia agent and you go for it you have some real issues. I guess the flouride works because you are some passive ass son of a bitches.
RP4409 3 years ago
RP4409, Are you going to write in Ron Paul for the rest of your life? You really need to grow up.
Do you really think Ron Paul is going to write his own name in on the ballot this November? lol.
You obviously don't give a damn about what Ron Paul says because he supports Chuck Baldwin and Bob Barr's campaigns. He's NOT writing himself in! Accept it and remove the wool from your eyes. Ron Paul has ended his campaign for a reason. Wake up!
thinkrevolution 3 years ago 2
As a Ron Paul supporter I would never vote for a candidate with such a poor voting record as barr. He is a neo-con stooge.
Patriot Act (voted twice)
Iraq resolutions
No child left behind
$159 billion medicare prescription drug bill
Anti-Terrorism Act gave gov broadened surveillance powers
Voted for Department of Homeland security
He is not a libertarian by any stretch of the imagination. Talk is cheap. Let me see voting record backing his claims that he is changed.
RP4409 3 years ago
I agree. Barr is an opportunist. He uses the Ron Paul following for his personal gains. If people want true change they need to vote for and support somebody who does not compromise, one who follows the philosophy of true freedom, liberty, and free market.
Foolsaeon 3 years ago
Bob Barr is the one to vote for if you want real change. It's time to show the Dems and Reps that they don't control the system anymore! Vote Barr 2008!
cbkermit 3 years ago 2
This Ron Paul supporter is voting Barr. He is no Ron Paul, but he's a step in the right direction.
Nexus974 3 years ago 3
Bob Barr is formor CIA... He voted for the Patriot Act... My goodness... The third party is corrupt this time around! Vote Chuck Baldwin!
phatbob426 3 years ago 3
Bob Barr is a phony. One who votes for the patriot act is not a pure libertarian conservative. A true libertarian conservative will always support liberty over fear. GO RON PAUL - as pure as they come.
Foolsaeon 3 years ago
He did write in provisions which limited the scope of surveying private citizens.
mbelma6329 3 years ago
And Bob did say he made a mistake.
Narrator007 3 years ago
Oh ya,like George Bush make a mistake about WMD!
Chuck Baldwin is a better choice. Write in RP.

Its a small book of less that 80 pages and it clearly shows the difference in ideology.
harryogre 3 years ago
Conservatives an libertarians most certainly were the same thing until the neoconservatives took over. There is very little overlap with the democrats. The war is about the only common ground, and that tends to be a function of partisanship, not ideology. In fact the democrats' ideology is much more likely to promote war in third world nations.
bighitter42 3 years ago 4
You couldn't be more wrong.
Read Liberty Reclaimed by Jim Lewis. Its like a $6 book and it will open your eyes.
After you read it, if you still believe that way we can talk. Or you could go to the Mises Institute and learn the origin of Austrian Economics and the birth of libertarian thought.
Until then we are just going to go back and forth with a yes no argument.
harryogre 3 years ago
I'm more than familiar with the Austrian school and Ludwig, in fact I have the Mises Institute in my subscription list. Free markets used to be totally accepted by both conservatives/libertarians. Hard currency is the only difference...and I can find you plenty of bonafide republicans and libertarians alike, on both sides of the hard money issue. It's ridiculous to give Menger and Mises total credit for spawning a movement that had been alive at least since the revolution.
bighitter42 3 years ago
You said Conservatives and libertarians are the same thing. There have been many libertarian leaning conservatives like Reagan and Goldwater. But that's different from libertarian
You said "It's ridiculous to give Menger and Mises total credit for spawning a movement ..." I never said that. I said you can read about its birth and I meant their web site not videos
It seems that you're just looking for an argument
Until you read the reference I used its silly to continue this stupid discussion
harryogre 3 years ago
"A few (just a few) of their beliefs overlap but libertarians overlap with liberals just as often." This is the statement I take issue with...and I'm totally correct in my assertion that modern libertarians are probably about 90% of what conservatism used to mean. They have almost zero to do with the modern liberal(or for a more descriptive term progressives.)
bighitter42 3 years ago
However I'll agree with you that we're arguing semantics for no good reason, we probably agree on most things.
bighitter42 3 years ago
Read Liberty Reclaimed by Jim Lewis.
Then we can talk.
Or, if you prefer, read Road To Serfdom by Nobel winning economist F.A. Hayek
Until then we are speaking different languages.
Modern liberals (since about 1960) are statists. Pryor to that, liberals were libertarians. Modern conservatives (since about 1950) are statists.
Now I'm done with this conversation until you read up on the topic.
Post what ever you want but I won't be responding.
Sorry to be gruff, but facts are facts.
harryogre 3 years ago
OK...How is that very different from what I've said?
Libertarians exist at the political right. Whether or not the major party that most closely represents that view at the time consider themselves conservative or liberal is a moot point.
I suppose you can hand out reading lists instead of arguing your point effectively, at least they are good authors. But it doesn't change the fact that you are the one who appears to be looking for an argument...why not argue it?
bighitter42 3 years ago
Sorry to dissent from your almighty opinion, but "facts" are irrelevant if you can't present them.
bighitter42 3 years ago
Libertarians are on the left. The terms come from the side the party sat on in the French Parliament during the Revolution. The Classic Liberals, what American Libertarianism was know as, sat on the left and the Conservatives, or State Loyalists, sat on the right.
SSSLLLAAYYEEERRRR 3 years ago
Well heaven forbid I use the terms as they exist today. That very well may be where the term originated, but the way the terms are used in modern America the left argues for more government and the right argues for less government. It's incredibly simple. That's the common usage. And by that standard libertarians exist on the far right. Most republicans do not.
Both parties are progressive and have no issue with using government.
bighitter42 3 years ago
FYI harryogre is one of these youtube jackasses who believes what he believes because he believes it. LOL Figured I'd quote him and change the name. Sounds stupid.
If he's right, why can't he argue his point effectively? Why must he rely on personal attacks and not one iota of actual information?
So do I assume you are ignorant? No, you actually brought some facts to the table. I know, without a doubt that harryogre is though. He started a discussion he couldn't finish.
bighitter42 3 years ago
Conservative vs Liberal has to do with how radical the party is, that is how different are the policies from the status quo. Conservative policies favor the status quo; Liberals enact more drastic changes. Libertarianism was radical when Feudal Mercantilism was dominate is Europe but became a Conservative philosophy when America established a widely Libertarian society and Socialism and Communism began to threaten that system.
SSSLLLAAYYEEERRRR 3 years ago
I do not know what you are arguing about but I thought I could clear that up for everyone here. Sorry for butting-in.
SSSLLLAAYYEEERRRR 3 years ago
Thank you.
You are 100% correct.
bighitter42 appears to be one of these YouTube jackasses that just wants to go on and on without actually looking up any facts. He believes what he believes because he believes it and assumes other people are just as ignorant as he is.
So again, thanks.

This Die Hard Ron Paul supporter is Voting for Bob Barr and going to switch to the Libertarian Party and might even run for local or state office in Florida as a Libertarian Ron Paul Bob Barr Candidate in the Future. hahahah. Liberty !

thats die easy.
die hards will write in ron paul
oishiiloops 3 years ago
Then I hope there aren't too many Die Hards. Voting your conscience is a good thing in theory, but there are just too few of us small-gov. independents to split up our votes between Bob Barr, Ron Paul and Chuck Baldwin and expect to have ANY future impact on American politics.
Narrator007 3 years ago 3
lol you are somewhat correct
ron paul has endorsed baldwin so im going to vote for him.
i dont like the potential flops in barr.
there is still a chance that i will vote for ron paul by write in. even tho it is non productive politically.

Is there a Ron Paul press release or video that backs you up?

you shouldn't just assume Ron Paul supporters will follow you Mu.Barr, you have to earn our respect.
Our respect does not come easy.
Your leaning in the right direction
Still a ways to go.

I agree with that. I wish he had said "I HOPE Ron Paul supporters will vote for me." Even if you really DO expect it (and given the other choices, I would too), don't say it out loud dude! That just comes across as arrogant.
