I have no purpose, directly or indirectly to interfere with the institution of slavery. --- March 14, 1861
What I would most desire would be the separation of the white and black races. --- 7-17-1858, fr. a speech delivered in Springfield, Ill.
I am not in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, or of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people. --- September 15, 1858
This is a great video-As a big Lincoln buff, it was wonderful to see all the different cards for him, and that he remains such a treasured inspiration to the U.S. and the world! It was also a nice touch to add the children's voices singing "Happy Birthday" to president Lincoln in the background. Instead of the other background music, how about adding period music / President Lincoln's favorite music in the background? I hope that I can visit the Museum someday.
I hope you upload an updated video of the many more cards that have come in from all over the country with their wishes too. Is this just a school's submission or the general public? Hope to see much more on Lincoln's Birthday.Thanks.
This is a selection of the cards we have on display in the museum. Other displays blanket the walls of our classrooms, the halls of the library, and the visitor's center. We may add footage of these other displays at a future date. It has been amazing to see the response and creativity from individuals from all walks of life all over the country. Thank you for your interest and come by to see them for yourself soon!
