Yes, it is possible to relax every muscle while sitting, it helps to take deep breaths and than on the exhale repeat to yourself "relax" It may help to visualize a wave of energy or light that runs thru your body from head to toe while you're taking the deep breaths. I agree it is easier while you lie down, just don't fall asleep :)
It is a matter of repetition and getting into the mindset that you are able to do it. It may seem very difficult at first but you can train your mind and body to relax and let go. A good technique is to take very deep breaths and when you exhale tell yourself to relax and keep repeating this process. Some visualize a light that passes thru the body from head to toe and as the light travels down it removes all tension in the body. Another technique that may help is EFT. Just search "EFT"

Is it possible to relax every muscle in a sitting position?
I think that when I lie down in bed, the body will be able to fully let go and relax.
