  • @HIBUGBUG I was so sorry to read this. i wish i could have helped you before, but i am sure you are seeing that life does carry on and new opportunities will still present themselves. Don't ever let it get you down, and remember you can always send me a message if you want to. I may not have all the answers but i will listen, as i am sure your parents will too. Kind regards Derek

  • what does the collagen suppliment help with? yeah, i know i could do a google but i may as well ask you too.

  • @movitmovit Well Movitmovit i am not a scientist so by all means look at the video they have on the website .... healthmattersuk.co.uk, but in a nutshell my bones were not healing after 18 months of wearing a frame and after 14 weeks total of taking the collagen that the above website have which is the only one with type1 and type2 collagen my bone was healed. the owner of the company believes it only repaired the tissue allowing better blood flow to repair the bone :) hope that helps

  • did u undergo this surgery to increase ur height m8?

  • @Ams11121 No i had a road collision with a large truck that introduced my right foot to my right knee without my consent. :(

  • @kardel100 sorry to hear that man... hope ur ok by now

  • @Ams11121 i am much better now thanks Ams11121

  • Aren't you that guy from Saw?

  • @612AMMAR612 lol no. ;)

  • @rhysfoley09

I used to yeah, especially the feaked out look by women on the bus! lol but thankfully my leg has healed despite the consultant wanting to amputate at three different stages. All thanks to the collagen supplement i was taking that i ordered off the website healthmattersuk.co.uk Hope you leg is healing well ... Kind regards Derek

  • @kardel100 yeah, its great peoples reaction is lol, and im glad to here your all healed now .. despite the consultant wanting to go med evil a few times lol

  • I HAVE A TAYLOR FRAM ON, RIGHT NOW :(

TOMMOROW , GEETING IT OFF :D IM SOO HAPPY BUT NERVOUS , ALSO SCARED BOUT WAT WILL HAPPEN..I NEED COURAGE :'(

  • @Roshnirocks123 I am so pleased to read that. If your dumb like i was you can do it without painkillers!! however it is wonderful to have it removed. being able to sleep at night on your side, wearing normal clothes... fantastic! It may feel strange at first almost like you miss having it there to support you, and you may even feel your leg is not strong enough, but it will be. You are in my thoughts all day today. good luck and kind regards Derek. ;)

  • @kardel100 thankyou very much for the wishes derek :)

now im back from hospital....it is already removed and im feeling much more confortable now :) so happy and wht bout you did they alrdy remove ur frame?

  • @Roshnirocks123 yes indeed my frame was removed over a year ago happily and i have to thank not only the hospital but also the people that make the collagen i was taking. it helped repair my bone and tissue very fast and meant that i have no arthritic pain at all. The collagen is on the website... healthmattersuk.co.uk

i bet you have enjoyed sleeping without the frame :)

  • What is the cost operation? where you operate? city plz:) thanks..

  • @eleneeeeeee just outside London but i had the operation when i leg was broken from a road crash, i did not pay to have my leg treated.

i believe if you do not need the operation it is better not to have it.

i hope that helps regards Derek.

  • the worst thing about mines is that ive got thicker pins than yu and i only have 2 thin pins and 8 thick pins and i hae going outside in the cold nights it hurts so bad.

  • i have a frame on my upper part of my leg and it dosent leave any pain. does it hurt on lower part of leg

  • in the begining for me yes but that had alot to do with swelling around the pin sites really, and the odd occasion were i put too much weight on my right leg but there again it did take 18 months for my bones to start reuniting. Plus i wouldn't take any pain killers due to never being into drugs!! (i know i am the exception!!lol)

  • i had a taylor frame but on the ankle as well

  • that must have hurt more than mine! Are you better now? Able to walk well??

  • hey can I ask you something... how much???

  • sorry to take so long to reply Charlesz3, it has not cost me anything todate appart from transport costs and perscription costs as i was treated in an NHS hospital here in the U.K. But i do understand that you can pay for the treatment privately aswell, price depends on treatment. £3000 upwards

  • who is treating you derek ? what hospital ? please say its not kings ?

  • Mr Kallil, St Peters (chertsey) although i have not been there since they took the frame off but should be going back in feb to have my leg lengthened.

  • hi go take a look at what i did with my time in ilizarov ..four years of it . 2 frames 9 months in the first .18 months in the 2nd . the rest of the time in varius casts . i now have a nail as ilizarov failed for me . date of accident 2nd april 05 . grade 3 a compound tib & fib .

  • Will do. ;)

  • I ave same 1 but its kind a different its called stryker i ave it up ..imagine how it hurts 4 children if u r old lk alredi 20 sumtin u can hadle nd it seemd just a pain but imagine 4 children , im having ilizarov alredi 8 motnhs nd just waitin 4 de doctor 2 say wen he is gunna 2 take off it but sadly my bone grows 2 slow !!! nd im s upset , im so sorry 4 al de ppl who having dis ,GUD LUK !!!

  • Thank you so much Sirdele123 for the best wishes i am better now (not 100% yet ) but as i said to Megan below if you need anything from me let me know and i will help if i can. many regards to you too Derek

  • I have something different, I have the Taylor Spatial Fram mines shorter, and I have a sidebar on my femur, i had corrections to previous surgery done, straightening of the femur and tibia, lengthening the tibia and realligning the knee!! Its has been a LONG process!!! Hope everythings going well with you!!

  • I am doing really Well now Megan i had been told last year when the bone was not healing that i may lose my leg but thankfully in the end the bone did heal. i feel for your situation and really do wish you a speedy recovery. if you need me i will be here for you regards Derek

  • Kardel,

Thankyou. The problem is that in Dominican Republic there is one doctor doing this and he is bringing from Venezuela. I work in a Foundation that is looking for an alternative supplier to lower cost and operate more children.

    Many thanks

  • Where can I buy the Ilizarov devide for Children?

  • you will need to contact your nearest Doctor first to ask him if they provide this treatment.

    Hope that helps.

  • Sorry i dont think you understood me.

They DO legnthen your legs on the NHS as im having mine done, i have no problem with them im just short.

Mine is not private it is on the NHS and free.

  • to kardel100;

i dont know if they can lengthen your legs in russia.

but you are wrong, they can certainly do it in the UK as im having my legs lengthened at hulls hull royal infirmary (:

ok, so i havent decided yet, do you think i should go ahead with it? or do you think it will be pointless painful time wasting just for the sake to grow abit?

    thanks x

  • Sorry Rachel, i am NOT wrong, due to the fact that my statement about lenghtening limbs in the u.k. refered to the practice of doctors treating people who actually do not have a problem with their legs apart from wanting to be taller. I had been asked if this could be done on the NHS and the answer IS no. However my understanding of private treatment is that they will if you so wish it to be done.

  • Is that to grow up? how many time it takes?? it's dangerous and expensive?? I'm very interested on that. Thank you.

  • No, i had a truck accident and my leg was broken in several places so they put on the frame. i have also had to have some dead bone removed so my leg is now shorter but maybe the doctors will fix that later next year. i believe they can lenghten your legs in Russia but they won't do it in the uk. thanks BoinaV

  • i just had one like that for my tibia. got it off yesterday and im feeling great.. then can lengthen your leg in australia. they pull it apart then new bone grows where the gap is

  • Ouch, but i know what you mean, i have been told the doctors will do that for me next feb when my bone is stronger and able to take it. the Doctors explained to me that my bones are so strong that when i broke my leg it literally shattered under extreme force. The little piece have set in such a way it now resembles a cave mans "club" lol. Thanks for dropping by Eamon4

  • Actually, They Do, I Had To Lengthen My Leg By 6 cm, It's Coming Off Today =]

  • thats great news, how long did you have yours for?

  • I Had Mine On For 6 Months And A Few Days. How Long Will Yours e On For Or If Its Already Off,How Long Was It On For?

  • i had mine on for 18 months and hopefully when my leg is strong enough next feb they will put on another to lenghten it again because this hobbling lark is a pain in the opposite hip (literally):)

  • yea they can do it, i had 3 inches removed due to dead bone and they regrew it. long process but got there

  • That's good news. Are you walking o.k. now?.

    Regards Derek

  • and how much they took from you ??

and do you feel well now like you have a normal legs?

    and thank

  • 3 inches of bone on the right leg (approx). Not yet 100% but i am getting there. Thanks ChromeGuitar1.

  • I got a modern one. I have two frames and something attached to it and a bone, and it takes "the whole weight". And my frames are green. Yes, this is the only thing what makes me a lit happier. It looks more estetical.

Sry for english. Greetings from Poland.

All the best from Derek (uk)

  • i got one too! only i was 14 when i got it. long story. what hospital do u go to?

only a year left 4 me!

    jess

  • Nice to meet you Jess. Chertsey hospital for me.

Not sure for how long. Thanks for your comment :) Derek

  • I will challenge you to a race when we are both better. Regards Derek ;)

  • hey i had one of those and about an inch and half was added to my left leg and now im walking fine. i had the fixator removed last aug but i have screws and a rod in my shin bone and im thinking about starting play ball but im kinda nervous. i wana start running but im kinda scared lol, any ideas?

  • L.O.L. i know exactly what you mean , i'm not able to run myself yet either, although i really would love too. you feel so scared that you might break something again!! i have been told that you will eventually get angry with yourself and just run and then wonder what you had been woried about!! Hope all works out for you, keep in touch. regards Derek

  • yea i know but i think my situation is a bit worse than urs. i had a gun shot to my foot and my left foot is fused so there is no movement what-so-ever and it was shorter so i had the surgery and length-wise it is good but my foot is still stiff and nothing can be done about that. i have to go back and see the doc in about a month so i will know what the x-ray looks and and i will talk to him if i can start running or anything like that. b4 the surgery i was runnin and doing everything

  • hey i am going to keep my fingers crossed for you big time regarding next months x-rays, and i will let you know what happens with mine next Xray on wednesday. i guess i am lucky that my right foot is only stiff and not fused like yours. i can bend my knee about 18 degrees at the moment. did your injury affect you knee in any way??

  • ummm... not that much. when i first had the gun shot, it was to the foot but my last surgery the doctor put in a rod below the knee. i will put together a video when i go back to school in about a month. i was hit with an M-16. nasty

  • @kardel100 hey man how tall where you before and now ? dont know what your status is now :)

  • get well soon!!

    Take care

  • will do.

  • My truck got hit by a bigger one, but i am getting better ....slowly ;)

  • Man oh man I hope ya heal up soon!

  • so do i. i have now had this metalwork on my leg for 10 months!!! but the broken bones are beginning to unite (finally). ;)

  • WOW

  • thats what i said when i first saw it :)

  • I had two of these on the one leg when I broke it and it never healed correctly. The first one didn't work quite as the doctors had hoped so they slapped on another one.

Cleaning pins was awful, as was on knocks and bumps, the first few weeks are the worst after that it soon gets easier.

  • Sorry to hear that, Can you walk o.k. now? What bone did you break?

  • Thanks, I broke the fibula and tibia, it's ok now thats, can walk as best as can be.

  • I know what you mean, keep exercising.

  • wtf happened dude!?!?!

  • Bend in Small road.... My Truck Vs Artic Container Rig... Front Driver side of my vehicle was crushed by rear Wheels of Trailer of other Vehicle trapping my right leg for approx 2&1/2 hours. I believe its a good enough reason to get off the road and back to MUSIC!! Which i will upload a.s.a.p. so cover your ears while u can!!!

  • ha! im wearing one right now! :D i've had it on both of my legs for a deformity i was born with. man, its been 2 1/2 freaken years of no walking. im over it lol. dont u hate cleaning ur pin sites? thats a bitch :P

  • I know exactly what you mean. i hope you make progress soon. As for the pin sites i have cut down to only cleaning them when they run as it causes less iritation around the sites. i Cover the frame with a BIN-LINER when showering!!!lol

  • lol i do the same thing!! use a bin liner that is, then i tape it to my skin lol. graet minds think alike ;) oh, and i'm having mine taken off in 2 weeks, your well wishes made it come true! hehehe cheers buddy! <3

  • I'm really glad to hear it. I had the top ring of my frame removed without the use of painkillers!!! I didn't take any because i thought pulling two pin through my leg would be a simple exercise. However i failed to take into account the "stinging" cause by the anticeptic as they pull the pin through (lol) so i recomend a couple of painkillers before the event. Good luck matey i'll be thinking of you.

  • Hey thanks for the nice words. i'm using a friends P.C. to respond while i wait to get my machines up and running for some future video postings so if i don't always respond straightaway it's not because im ignoring anyone intentionally, and i apreciate all comments, good and constructive :-)

  • I know how you feel I had a frame for 12 months. My leg to fix but it took a long time.

    John

  • hope you are feeling better these days..
