Take a look to the left side of the captains windshield at 2:01. There you will notice a dimly illuminated checkerboard on the famous checkerboard hill. I have flown this approach a little bit left of the localizer (real procedure) to have more room for the turn. Following the approach light system mounted on the roofs of kowloon is a bad idea because the bank during the final turn will be to steep. Real pilots approaching kai tak often prefered to fly a bit left of the loc
