Deerhunter Video: This song coupled with the visuals awakens the lost parts of my soul within me.

  • this is a dark, but beautiful song. It actually gives me mental images and even a story. most songs don't do that anymore.

  • @dilnatmomDONE Sounds like you're listening to the wrong songs.

  • I always study while listening to this song lol

  • if you love Deerhunter check out Bradford Cox's rendition of "Seems So Long Ago, Nancy" for Leonard Cohen's compilation album "Old Ideas With New Friends"

  • Oh my god, at the end, that looping synth thing drives me nuts

In a good way of course.

  • i can't believe i've only heard of them now. where has this band been all my life??

  • Video is terrible but the song is EXCELLENT

  • @0incorporeal they sound much better if you think of them as ambient punk. The guitar sounds they get are just amazing. I think the vocals are exceptional.

  • @EtcEtcAndEtc How can a band sound much better if you think of them as a musical genre? Music genres have nothing to do with how your ears and mind interpret music. That might be the most pretentious bullshit I've ever read.

  • @greatestxgift It's called perspective. Etc was suggesting the other guy listen to the song from another perspective. Your preconceptions do very much influence the way your brain interprets things.

    en (dot) wikipedia (dot) org/wiki/Confirmation_bias#Biased_interpretation

See biased interpretation. (replace (dot) with . )

  • '@EtcEtcAndEtc not like punk at all. it's indie

  • @0incorporeal you we're looking for the Nickleback channel

  • Wow thats actually a really good song

  • @Platitutinus Bradford's full of 'em...

  • That's cute! Meandmehousetramp. I love Deerhunter, they're pure indie.

  • damn this deerhunting nigga leanin like whatsup shoutouts to big pookie

  • Frankly, absent the bullshit politics, this should be nominated as a top video contender in many UK and US circuits.

  • Depressing both lyrically and visually, but what an amazing piece.

  • 1080p taught me how to raise children

  • Who knew two chords could make such a fucking fantastic song!

  • my hand brought me here he held a knife to my throat and told me to type deerhunter on youtube and listen to helicopter. now my hand is pressing the like button

  • Deerhunter are one of the few bands left today that manage to seamlessly mix experimental music and pop music together and still sound awesome. I love them and I think they will be looked back on as one the most influential bands of the 2000's/2010's.

  • @bowie2bowie94 check us out we have that edge. or so we think! type in Retro Lake and listen to u s, we need help change the music generation and make it good like deerhunter/tame impala/mgmt etc

  • @geoffkilian

if you turn it up really loud and use headphones, between the first delayed kick drum and the delayed snare it sounds like some guy is skatting

  • no one cares for me :/

  • @jaretthale78 That's not true, cause I sure as fuck do :P

  • @TheAharrison31 :D awwe

  • granted being high can be fun, but this song is perfect without it

  • Awesome ears.

  • So amazing and beautiful... when the birds fly off the dock when he busts into the chorus is so very exceptional!

  • This is one of those songs that will grow on you.

  • That one noise lol. That little sample is used for the entire melody of the song!

  • my daughter (nearly 3 years old) likes Deerhunter very much. today we were drivin by car to her granny. her favourite track is "basement scene". when that song was over i turned the radio off and was reday to get out of the car. and she was like, 'no i wanna listen to the next song'. so i turned on the radio again and we were lsitening to 'helicopter' till it was over. that was nice.

  • @meandmehousetramp does your house tramp listen to Deerhunter?

  • @supersac2003 sure.

  • @meandmehousetramp - what a cool three-year-old :)

  • @meandmehousetramp That's awesome!

  • trying to think of an interesting way of orgasming to this song........

  • Did you notice he says she/he in "we know she/he loves you the best"?

  • @lockypocky very clever thank you

  • When I was listening to this song, something misfortune had happened to me, though I kept reminding melody, this very melody, and now I feel OK. Just an OK.

  • @roflstone google translate?

  • @fivkups It's just me.

  • perfect song

  • I've got to say, after discovering this song and then the rest of Deerhunter's discography, they are now my favorite band of the 2000's onwards. If you haven't bought this album and Microcastle, you are missing out on a lot of great music

  • Instrumentals to this song anyone? Reply to me please.

  • When I'm about to die, I want to listen to this song as I'm dying.

  • I came here by accident. On second thought, maybe there are no accidents.

  • Reminds me of Mew a little bit

  • @soldat182 That's why I've been thinking since it's been stuck in my head. Thank you for affirming my belief :D

  • @soldat182

    American Mew!

  • Loads faster in 720p.

  • too strange,...don't get it.

  • @MsRedSpade nothin to get dude.

  • Hotboxing my spacesuit.

  • great song

read my review of Atlas Sound's Parallex

    allsoundsmusic.blogspot.com/2011/11/atlas-sound-parallex.html

  • @The1TCM1 You douche.

  • Not bad

  • For some reason, I always think of Winter when I hear this song.

  • I cant wait to hear the new ATLAS SOUND album

  • Cox looks cute in a unique way.

  • This is really, seriously (a year later) vying for my favorite single of all time. The credentials are for favorite: I smile and tear up and dance all at the same time.

  • Clipe e música maravilhosas !!!

  • Uma das melhores bandas alternativas que já escutei.

  • Such a great song and video!

If you like this style of music video check out a video I made for a Boards of Canada song. Its much more colorful but still plays with the opacity concepts utilized in this video.

  • Kind of long for this type of song that sounds like just a verse

  • This song is about German sex slaves and and gay millionaires raping 16 year old boy named Dimitry Markov

  • First time I listened to this I was like eh, then I listened to it again and was blown away

  • beautiful.

  • Some songs are meant for ears-only. This is one of those songs.

  • @TheMistermuppet Troll

  • @daedley Faggot

  • Replay value, guys, good songs come down to replay value. This has plenty of it.

  • @hilothegreat So true man! Like i got an mp3 no so long ago and I've discovered it truly all comes down to replay value! Like I may find two songs, one sounds cool at first but it has nothing really backing it, and then the second may not be as poppy as the first but its got something that keeps it alive...its got soul! And this song has got soul I'll tell ya! :)

  • Hahah that's pretty funny^^

  • they reminds me Slowdive .... those lads are inspired shoegazers as good as Ride 1992 lp... : )

  • Love this song...

  • ahhh a perfect mesh of an etheral electrical wall of sound and spiritual contemplation. Excellent work ya'll!!!

  • @enlightenedson1 Spiritual contemplation is not what the song is about. 5/10 for effort.

  • love you, song!i love you more than anything else these days......!

  • What an amazing band! I cannot wait for the Nicki Minaj collaboration!

  • @ariel12955 LMAO!!!!!

  • Pewww pewww... I just unexplainably shot out a load of golden semen after 2 listens to this song.

  • @LaGreatChrisMaxie inexplicably*

  • Nice! Does the job for me.

  • hipsters are hispters, not trolls.

  • Can't believe my buddies/one roommates band has done all this in 8 years. They just get better and better. Love ATL! I still remember Bradford showing me the concept artwork for their first album in my bedroom!

  • Its about dimitry marakov.by dennis cooper look it up

  • Hey if you guys like this you should also check out Tangent Transmission! Ive been listening to them ever since I heard them on NCIS:LA and love it. Reminds me of Deerhunter a bit

  • this reminds me of the horror we've created in iraq....i have some documentaries you guys should watch, willed ignorance is never an option, fight the wrongdoers...the US government

  • Knowing what tormented Bradley Cox to write this song, it broke my heart when I saw it live tonight at Webster Hall.

  • the people who disliked this video deserve to be loved forever, and so does everyone else :)

  • only red necks , jocks and cops. cant dig on soulful shit like deerhunter if that makes me fag r wierd then thats a billion times better then the latter. free your mind u close3d minded boring hypocrytes go fuck some sheep

  • @SuperJayson75 you are close minded for putting labels on people and having prejudiced opinions of people. don't act like your open minded because your comment clearly proves youre not. that makes you the hypocrite youre accusing other people of being. The things that you dislike in someone are the things you dislike about yourself. Learn something about the people you label and you will discover yourself

  • i care for you bradford

  • @margones78 1. you have terrible taste in music, 2. ive been listening to this "shit" since i was 15 and damnit i wouldnt have it any other way, Bradford Cox is a hidden genious(it should stay that way) and 3. if you knew how to enjoy and listen music AT ALL you could see that there is so much more to this song than "MFC" IM sorry for the KIDS who dont listen to stuff like this, cause THEY will never be able to go where i have been.

  • they must be british with that busted grill! music isnt bad but i wouldnt listen to it on a long trip......might end up killing someone

  • @biffsinith It's called Marfan Syndrome... look it up. And I definitely recommend not listening to music that would encourage homicidal tendencies.

  • Does this remind anyone else of Beach House at all?

  • @joshcuba492 They are both in the same genre/style of dream pop(:

  • All that to say I'm a little obsessed with this song. The story behind it is so incredibly tragic and sad that it just deepens my love of it.

  • I used to play these same chords endlessly when I first discovered synths back in the 80's. All those patches that would play a 5th on top of whatever notes you were playing. I never did any drugs or drank in those early years, but I swear I went on some deeeeeep trips playing with headphones. Amazing memories.

  • I feel like he's singing to me.

  • this song can seriously make me cry. everytime.

  • @magrones78 awww well arent you just too cool :) really proud of you bro, great job

  • LOL, your old, grandad.

  • @magrones78 There are instruments in this and they used synths since the 60's The 80's is where they mostly had music from JUST synths...

  • @magrones78 All of those bands suck ass dude except for soundgarden.

  • @magrones78 horrible bands...

  • @luiisluiis Magrones is a tool, but those bands were/are not "horrible". If Pearl Jam had not made another song other than "Black" (or "Jeremy" or "Even Flow" for that matter) they would still be worth a moniker much better than "terrible". "Epic" is pretty much the same for Faith.

Don't hate on great music just to put some idiot troll in his place. Two wrongs do not make a right.

  • @magrones78 you are a fuckin idiot.. this is not music from a computer... wow im so sad for u... so old..probably ... this song is played on a guitar and and bass with a sick as pedal board...

  • @magrones78 You do realize, of course, that nearly all music is recorded into computers these days? So in one way, your statement is correct. I'm personally glad that kids have a complete variety of music to listen to these days. Why listen to this and assume it's all there is? Those guys you mention didn't know more than 4 chords anyway, let alone how to sing without growling. Open your heart, bro!

  • @magrones78 I play 6 instruments and I've listened to this "shit" all my life. I'm 16.

  • Dreamy.

  • Really nice song :')

  • Bradford Cox is one of the most important musicians of our time

  • This is some whiny pussy music.

  • @DareUtoLoveMusicMore Because he has a high pitched tone in the song? Bradford Cox is musically genius, I have no clue what you are talking about.

  • @DareUtoLoveMusicMore then dont listen to it duh and your comment along with your username gives you a bad look =_=

  • just amazing i love this song

  • Sounds a littlebit like old friend from simon and garfunkel :)

  • @GoldenTeacherNr1

they're both in the same key hahaha. Needless to say, both are amazing songs.
