I came here by accident too. I was actually thinking of Deerhoof. These guys seem kinda boring (at least this song is). I don't dig this mellow indie dreamy stuff, unless the vocals are exceptional.
@0incorporeal they sound much better if you think of them as ambient punk. The guitar sounds they get are just amazing. I think the vocals are exceptional.
@EtcEtcAndEtc How can a band sound much better if you think of them as a musical genre? Music genres have nothing to do with how your ears and mind interpret music. That might be the most pretentious bullshit I've ever read.
@greatestxgift It's called perspective. Etc was suggesting the other guy listen to the song from another perspective. Your preconceptions do very much influence the way your brain interprets things.

I saw deerhunter at bonnaroo. As I watched & listened under the tennessee moon, I had a vision of cacti & bull skulls & cherokee women wrapped in blankets sitting all around me. Everything is connected. I stopped caring about the material, told my friends they are my family, told my family they are my world, moved out of my apartment & started preparing for a new life. I leave thursday to live on a Caribbean island & happened to stumbled across this vid today.Your life is your own, live it.

Deerhunter are one of the few bands left today that manage to seamlessly mix experimental music and pop music together and still sound awesome. I love them and I think they will be looked back on as one the most influential bands of the 2000's/2010's.

my daughter (nearly 3 years old) likes Deerhunter very much. today we were drivin by car to her granny. her favourite track is "basement scene". when that song was over i turned the radio off and was reday to get out of the car. and she was like, 'no i wanna listen to the next song'. so i turned on the radio again and we were lsitening to 'helicopter' till it was over. that was nice.
When I was listening to this song, something misfortune had happened to me, though I kept reminding melody, this very melody, and now I feel OK. Just an OK.
I've got to say, after discovering this song and then the rest of Deerhunter's discography, they are now my favorite band of the 2000's onwards. If you haven't bought this album and Microcastle, you are missing out on a lot of great music
