  • I used to enjoy this map the most, and the music. My favourite was to play it with the -respawn option... on the hardcore mode... the one before nightmare

  • Creepy track just from horror movie!

  • What defines a lab? LOL

  • @LoewenPforte This is what I am asking myself often playing DooM and check the level's names^^. I guess: Nukage and POISON warning signs :)

  • Ah, so that's why you don't like the Skulltag community.

Well I've never been a part of any of those communities, but I still think that Skulltag is a fine peice of software. Karma forum systems always suck (just take a look at the Roosterteeth forums), but whatever, screw them.

  • @RJbanshee21 Skulltag is okay, the most nifty stuff is the "fault" of ZDooM on which Skulltag is based on. For multiplayer is good, on the other hand I never liked it really, it's just too fast yet too ugly. UT is fast, too, but you know what's going on. If you play Skulltag you shoot some jumping and all-the-same skins or a bunch of crates, bunnies shooting at you.

  • It also outstands me how Doom's level design has progressed throughout the years to create different styles of play. Notably the legendary 'Hell Revealed' which was the first use of monsters in hordes and swarms, quite the leap from the claustrophobic, atmospheric corridors of 1993 with strategic monster placement. Personally I prefer the former for it's creativity, although I love a good slaughterfest evidenced by my channel :)

  • I was meant to be asleep long ago and wound up being glued to your archive of nostalgic replications of Doom's soundtrack under Soundblaster. I really admire the opening title with the automap in the background and even the title song along with the author! The slideshow screenshots along with the feedback provides a jolly jolt of humour and nostalgic remembrance :)

Professionally made quoting the various sources of programs used. Keyboard only is awful if you don't bind seperate strafe keys!

  • This is the very best an author of a video can read! Wow, these comments are so... Wow. It took a lot of time to get some layout which is simple but informative at once, and a 3 minute video is a story of 2-3 hours. I receive once in a while a 3 or 2 star rating, what is confusing, since I didn't put just a still or a google image in and let the Windows media player doing its job. Well, whatever. Thanks so much. This is one of the reasons why I keep uploading :)

  • @NoMac90 Your welcome mate and it'd be my bloody intention to ensure you do keep uploading this fantastic array of nostalgic memories! You grasp English very well if you don't mind me saying so ;) I can interpret it well, perhaps I should tone down the complexity of my vocabulary on your behalf.

  • Skulltag and some of ZDoom's members tend to be over-the-top. I posted a mod on ZDoom forums once and some guy chewed me out without giving constructive, tangible criticism. Ugh. I like ZDoom better though, it has good people.

As for the video, this is one of my favorite tunes, NoMac. Bobby Prince really captured the eeriness of E1M5. The OPL version is best, as usual.

... and your right. That scene does look like something out of Doom. I always thought it was inspired by The Omen too.

  • Ah, it's great to hear something from you after that long time. You're maybe right, these are both forums with their idiots in, but Skulltag's forums added so many features making posting a must and if you don't, your profile will show a negative karma for example - and I do not see a reason to stay if I'm forced to speak english like I'm born in the U.S. or U.K.

I like this tune also. Did you ever tried the remixes? Many of 'em having good rearranged strings, sounds AWESOME.

    See ya.

  • @NoMac90 I think you're correct on that Skulltag < ZDoom when it comes to moderation. I feel that way now. And don't let them get you down man, you know better English than some Americans when it comes to typing on the Internet. And I mean that in a good wau. :) So don't let Skulltag's forum system get you down.

But yes, I love the E1M5 remixes out there. I like the one done for the 3DO version of Doom, as crappy as the game overall was.

  • Oddly enough, many systems with powerful hardware having lower sound quality (and, yes, I mean in this case the OPL chip, PCs were superior to let's say the 3DO), and systems where DooM ran choppy and with a poor framerate offered a great experience sound-wise.

I do not care about my account there, many people gave me great hints for modding and showed patience, but still this is an administration of no understanding and, let's call it cowardness - the unability to discuss over something.

  • Another sucess, dude.

This is one of my favourite tunes in Doom.

I liked that scene from Family Guy too. :D

  • The first time I saw that scene was just after I played trough that level the first time (got DooM kinda late), and instantly: "Uh, this map". I wanted to show the Demo playing in E1M5, but as you know, it plays E2M4 instead and other maps.
