  • @GemmaHey Pure beeswax has a very high melt point. It dries rock hard, not permitting movement, and it's very difficult to remove from the hair. So I guess you could say I'm not a big fan. Actually, there is a good chance that much of the "hate on wax" bs comes from bad experiences with pure beeswax.

  • the edits kill me!

  • aannddd really straight hahaha

  • i have seen all of your videos, and i am 100% sure i want dreads. i have never had dreads, and my hair is 7 inches. i want a dread party, but my friends keep their hair military short, and dont know the first thing about hair care. i trust them, but i dont want screwwed up amature dreads. where do i go for REAL backcombed dreads? a salon?

  • lol this dude is cool as shit

  • hey, i was just thinkin after watchin part A of the dread wax rumors vid, about the petroleum in beeswax. since you say usin this would loosen up dreads, could these products be used to undo dreads for the ppl who want to take em out, as opposed to just cuttin the whole dam thing off?

  • this is great, thx!

  • is the wax that keeps popping on your screen the one you use if not witch wack do you use and how much doers it usually cost thanks and love you vids!

  • i love your dreads!!!

What kind of wax should i get and where can i get it?

    thnx!(:

  • @SokoandUke You can score some dreadhead wax at dreadheadhq dotcom. It's not the only wax out there but I can guarantee great results with it.

  • golly, your dreads look amazing. the perfect amount, great length, amazing

  • @FluffityAntelope Thanks brah! =]

  • Hey, I'm gonna get dreads for my birthday but i'm not quite sure about something.

I'm a dude but I went to the hair dresser like 4 months ago and she layered the shit out of it. It really pissed me off, however I've let it grow and it's longish now. longer than six inches anyways. I was just wondering If it being layered is going to make the dreads look retarded. It might be a dumb Q but it's been on my mind lol.

    Thanks,

    Jack

  • Tch. I wish there were people I knew that knew anything about dreads. I mean, I know what I see online, but it'd help if there was someone who actually knew from experience.

And i don't exactly trust the vietnamese women around here with that.

  • i didn't use wax and my dreads are.. beautiful :D

  • if wax was good for your dreads, why are the only people who say it is, the ones who sell dread wax, and everyone else says its bad for your hair?

  • @horrorbusiness9 Actually if you check out testimonials from peeps that have tried dhhq wax and used it according to the instructions you'll find a s*it ton of people that swear by dread wax. It's all about what they used and how they used it.

  • my hair is 7 inch at the front but only 4 1/2 inch at the back. does this matter when gettin dreads?

  • the front of my hair is 7 inch but the back is only 4 1/2 inch does this matter when gettin dreads?

  • watsup jonny clean!!! Does it matter if there is 3inch difference between the back of my hair and the front when getting dreads? coz i want em badddd! The front half is longer !

  • @Raldguitarist As long as the shortest part is 3" or longer you are good to go. =]

  • Your hair looks gross. Im just being honest. Dreds with your very straight hair is a mess. Im just sayin

  • @amaximc You are entitled to your opinion. I love my dreads and I wouldn't change them. SE agrees with you though, he says my dreads are awful....lol

  • @SiantDread In answer to your posts =] If you are not following the DHHQ instructions I would advise against using wax - of any type. Wax needs to be used in a specific way - the instructions don't have to be followed PERFECTLY but they do have to be followed to get the right results. If you want to neglect, then neglect if you want to follow the instructions then take advantage of the wax.

  • hey,im wanting dreads but not the loooong wait of neglect but also without doing the hours of bacmoing, could i just rub it in my hair and do it the negeclt way, but with wax,lol

  • the video editing is really annoying

  • im using dread head hq productz right now. nd i got the wax in my hair right now. its sticking up like its on viagra but this wax seemz pretty damn legit. it is compressed. palm rolling without any wax is a labourious task. its doubtful that it will lock up like that. its good to use the wax as far as i know. but if it fuckz up ill tell you all. but so far its doing exactly what he said they would do. THEY ARE STAYING NICE AND TIGHT AND NAPPY. its working.

  • that wasnt a braid that was a plat

  • She would look AMAZINGLY hot with dreads...

  • I got semi-dreads every morning/after shower except the day i wash it(like 1-2 times a week)!

  • I enjoyed your video....my question is can you use the dread wax on all types of hair..where can you find the products at?

  • i sware this guy knows nothing about dreads. HAHAHAH SYKE!

jonny clean rawks. appreciate his greatfullness! haha.

  • ive been watching other videos cough @skeetsplash and they say your products arent legit but i feel like thats not true cause your site has real testomonials and pictures of ppls dreads so im not sure wut to do

  • Lol, when he says "lubricant" the KY flashes up ;)

Im gonna use wax for my dreads... if my hair ever decides to grow :O

  • what did you put in your dreads when you where talking about too much wax

  • @IKILLGAYPEOPLE911 ...too much wax.... naw, it was shaving creme. And my fiend walked in on my while I was recording it. It was difficult to explain =]

  • 1.) where do you get the wax?

2.) when you have had the dreads for a long time, and you dont want them anymore.how do you get rid of them BESIDES cutting the dreads off.

  • @15bobmarley 1) dreadheadhq dotcom (you'll also find instructions there on how to use it, and how to maintain the dreads) 2) If you decide to cut off your dreads you can use dread zasta - it's a special conditioner made for dread removal - also on the dreadheadhq site

  • 1. where can you get the wax?

    2. after getting dreads and you have had them for a long time.and you dont want them anymore.how do you get rid of it BESIDES cutting them off?:(

  • dude that talking dreads AWESOME!

  • There is no GOOD wax !!! All wax is bad !!!

  • @Dreadlockswampy LOL - Yes, all wax is EVIL!!!! It's the reason my dreads SUCK so bad LOL -.......now run along....

  • These vids are awesome man!!!

  • god this video makes me feel like im having a bad H trip or acid trip.

    But still very helpful hah

  • So that means curley hair is good for dreads dosent? If u have time please look at my vid n tell me i really wanna get DREADS

  • How can i save my dreads? i used a besswax with petrolatum

  • How can i save my dreads? i used a beeswax thats has ingredients of Petrolatum.

    -Thanks

  • @hooooooters If you use a wax with petrolium you'll need to wash your dreads with hot water and dread soap a few times. It will come out an you can put dreadhead wax or another wax w/o petrolium in it. Just be sure to remove the other wax first because it will slow down progress greatly.

  • nice video!

    ...very informative

    and fun

SO many people are misinformed (like myself)... thanks for clarifying.

    Thanks for the video!

    5 stars!

    +favorites!

  • do u use wax?

  • @skateboardisthedevil I started my dreads with dread head wax but I haven't used it since. After the dreads lock there is no reason to continue to use wax. Most people end up only using it for 2-4 months. Of course the Lock Blockers want you to believe you have to use it forever and your dreads will fall out if you don't but that BS like the rest of their tired lines.

  • i think wax is definitely the way to go..it made what would have been a 1 year process into a 3 month one...its definitely a plus.

  • i have tiny loose hairs that run all down my dreads. Is it okay for me to cut it off? or use more wax and crochet it? im a bit confused.

  • @Refferlad666 You can pull them in with a lock sculpta, I have a recent vid that shows ya how =]

  • is more palm rolling better or can u over roll?

  • @Matttinahat7 If you can roll each dread for around 30 seconds each day while they are new and you are still using wax they will lock wicked fast! You don't need to do more than that.

  • Dude,,, 9:03 talking dreadlock...

  • I used wax... and my dreads are close to maturng after only 6 months...so yes it does work.

  • @TKDdreadful that is around the average time

  • You remind me of Gerard Butler out of 300. If he had dreads obviously.

  • instead of wax would aloe or hemp seed oil or gel be acceptable?

  • @aurlis2012 I've tried both and they do not work in the same way as wax. You are totally welcome to give them a shot and see but they are very different. Aloe is a decent mosturizer, unfortunately it needs to be applied all the time be effective. Dread butta lasts a lot longer.

  • No don't eat my dreads

  • dude can you headbang properly with dreads, as opposed to normal long hair?

Cuz I've been thinking about getting dreads for ages now, but, being really into heavy metal the whole "can I still bang" is kinda important to me. That and I'm an avid surfer, so am I still gonna be able to surf whenever I want or do I have to limit myself to then limit the amount of soaking they'de do in the sea?

  • @imastoner You can't head bang with dreads............but you can DREAD BANG....and it's so much more awesome =] But be really careful if you have glass beads. I whacked my friend in the face with a glass bead and it really hurt (or so he said). The ocean, overall, will help the dreads mature but you will get more loose hair so it's a trade off. There is a good faq on the dreadheadhq site about this. =]

  • yo jonny clean! is it true that if you have dreads in for many years or a long time that your hair becomes weaker and starts to thin quicker?

  • I hate it when people say"getting dreads".

Damn , it's not as if dreads are a hat you can buy and then not wear when they don't meet your fancy anymore or something!

  • i love the info in your vid's, but the over editing is a tad annoyin'. ;) you'd hold my attention without the speed/pitch changes, etc ;)

  • YOUR HILARIOUS !!!!!!!!!!

  • The quote is: "Guns don't hurt people, People hurt people."

  • Wax ruined my dreads. When i washed them, half of it became loose and i had to rebackcomb them myself. Dreads don't need wax, they need TIME! Don't try to trick people so you get more money. But of course you won't publish my comment, cause you are scared.

  • that prolly cause you caked it on dumbass

  • He posted your comment, and wax doesn't ruin dreads. It depends what kind of wax and how you use it.

  • I see your comment.

    And you probably over waxed your dreads, h8er. Don't h8, <3 :D

  • nope waxed is bad either way

  • Well then you didn't put the wax in correctly like this guy said, did you? And you really think he's scared? Well it looks like noone's scared of your stupid comment as obviously we can see it plain as day so stifle your crap.

  • did u use there wax cause usually they put petrolium which is a luberecant

  • yet, three months later, your comment is still here.

he isnt scared of you because he knows how ligit his products are, and so do all of his other costomers who use the correctly. btw... he uses his own products.

and thats right, dreads dont NEED dreads, but, when you use good wax "dreadhead wax" it will largly sped up the proccess.

there is alot of diffrent ways of growing and maintaining dreads.

  • @Yekex You probably over waxed, man. I used wax and my dreads are startng to really look nice and tight.

  • @Yekex I'm sorry you had a bad experience - and I'm sorry that your response to that experience is to condemn a tool that has worked for over a decade for thousands upon thousands of people. This is like suggesting that cars are evil because you had an accident. You really should try taking responsibility for your actions - it will lead you to a much happier life. If you don't have time to use a product properly or you don't want to use a product...... don't - it's that simple.

  • Wow man you've raised some pretty valid points about dreadwax. The truth is dreadwax does help your hair lock up IF used correctly. Like you said man we shouldnt be afraid of food because SOME people overeat.

    PS: Love your products.

    Cheers!

  • ya my mom just came back from the drug store or wtv you guys call it and she brought this bottle on dreadwax filled with petrolum and i was like "omg no not petrolum. mom i know u hate my dreads but dont kill them" lol

  • Hey man nice dread! i wana get em =[ how did you do yours? and how big squares did u section your hair into? How long you had them btw coz uve got the best dreads ive seen and trust me ive seen alot! lol

  • Thanx for the props on meh dreadies. I used 1/2" sections to start mine. In hind sight 3/4" sections would have been better for my uber straight hair but I wanted to see how thin I could make them. 1/2" worked (obviously) but some of the sections were a touch larger and those dreads require the least maintenance...

  • Great vid mate, your a fantastic presenter, really funny and you seem real not fake -- which is a talent in this day and age.

Hope to see more stuff from you soon, all the best.

  • Comment removed

  • The forum was closed cause after months of spending 4-6+ hours a day helping, not just customers, but anyone with dread questions, and creating an easy going forum, a few people realized our board and our time was funded by product sales, so they decided to use our board to bash our products and teach their personal "methods". They insisted that since our board was open to the public we had to allow this. Sick of babysitting a few rather than helping everyone else, we took it down. Sad really

  • Sorry brah I honestly believe that the truth is that wax works and my girl and I (also known as DreadheadHQ) have hundreds upon hundreds of happy customers (& lockticians) proving it all the time....

In fact we guarantee our kit will lock your dreads up in 6 months and we've never had a paying customer ask for a refund.

In fact we've never had a real customer say they were experiencing any problems w/ using the wax.

From where I stand it's you who is deceiving people...better check your facts.

  • you ARE A FAGGOT. your dreads look SO FAKE. why don't you take the wig off man...

and why dont you NOT DELETE the posts that are ANTI-WAX buddy?

  • LOL I usually do delete troll posts just like this.... but I thought this one was so funny/original I had to approve it!

A wig....that's awesome. If I could make a wig that looked like this I totally would!

I guess you're trying to figure out how I managed to get decent dreads after using that EVIL WAX!!

"It doesn't make sense, It must be a wig!" That's pretty funny dood.

Just admit it already, the wax works! That's why people who use it right get great dreads!

  • @KnottyJonnyClean I agree with Jonny. The wax helped my very thin hair stay in the dread, lock in the dread and eventually WASH OUT OF THE DREAD OVER TIME. And btw, if you consider kept, nice looking dreads (Not to say natural dreads look bad) "FAKE" dreads then keep it to yourself. I like being able to control the size of MY dreads. KEEP LOCKIN' JONNY!!!

  • @KnottyJonnyClean Nice work on that TROLL! I shal call you, " KNOTTY TROLL SLAYER"! I say it in the monster truck rally voice. Ya, wax is nice in moderation, and the only people who talk bad bout it have poopie lookin knotts. I think it comes down to clenlieness? I wash my hair once a day, or at least every other day, and all the barnicles, lint, and sand come out with the wax. My locks are a covanent. BLESS!

    ~1NESS~

  • OMGGGGGGGG AWESOME PHAT LOCKS

  • i f*&^in love DHHQ. no homo, but KJC is like inspiring, and i want my dreadies to be just like his. DHHQ's products are friken ligit and awesome. and KJC seems to be a pretty cool dude. thanks for the vids they are well worth it! PS, myspace...... just make a new acount man

  • omg i love his hair!!!

  • im waiting HOW I MAKE MY DREADS XD, i hope its ready soon...

  • Yo these videos were well worth the wait. I can tell you really put alot of time to make these vids and I really appricate you sharing you knowledge. Plus your movies always make me laugh. Great special effects for the over waxed hair...... GREAT JOB JC.........peace

  • my dreads are a year old, i used wax ONCE when I started them and never again since.

    Please explain to me why

    a) the wax is still there in places after a whole year of washing with shampoo every week

    b) the waxy areas are totally undreaded, straight and waxy hair, whilst the non-waxy areas are dreading up nicely and look as they should for 12 month old dreads.

if you actually believe what you say then youll approve this comment and address my questions.

  • guns don't kill people, husbands that come home from work early do.

  • xD that dread was smokin' hawt.

  • jus wondering what are some good ways to sleep with dreads? like tie em up? i notice you dont have very many loose hairs at the top how do you keep them so nice and neat? what washing methods you recommend? any particular shampoos that can be used besides what you have for sale? also how would you go about trimming dreads to keep them at a good length, while still being able to tie them back in a tail?

thanks for the vids, very useful, i think what ppl need to know: use wax in moderation.

  • @ygrowup When dreads are new (first 2-3 months) sleep with them covered. This will prevent fuzzies from attaching. Washing them every 2-3 days with a residue free shampoo will keep them healthy and locking at the root as they grow - it will also prevent rot due to soap residue building up in the dreads. if you have two longer dreads in the back and all of the dreads can reach the back they should stay tied =]

  • Yayyyy new video

  • love it, really funny and informative!

  • lol i love dis guy,kEep doin ur thng man

"it opens up a little bit(slow mo)"

  • dreadies would suit that girl

  • just one question, did you really use wax in your dreads? didn't really catch that in the vid. I'm getting dreads, but I am hearing so mutch different stuff about rather using wax, or not using wax.

  • Yes...I used wax both times.... I had the first dreads for over 4 years and these I've had for 5. Over waxing sucks...but I'm not afraid to use wax because it can be overdone. (we're not afraid of food cause some people over eat right? : ) Just follow the directions and you don't have to worry about any of the over waxing issues.

  • your advice helps me alott :]

i'm gettin me some dreads soon.

  • hey its the god of dreads

i have had my dreads for 1 year now and i love them i could not of done it with out you so thanks man your a great help !!!!

  • your vids have been very helpful, i had been thinking about getting dreads for a couple of years and your vids helped me with my decision. i've got dreads for just over a month now (saved up 7 years of hair) and i've been waxing them in like once every 10 days and i do think they tend to lock tighter by doing it. i encourage you to make these vids, u have done a great job so far.

  • Can you do a video about hair length???

As in advice on the length to dread your hair

  • YEAH!

  • HELL YEAH, I've been waiting for this for a long long time! After seeingsome of your vids i finally decided to get dreads around dread vlog 2 :P Keep us tuned man.

  • This is great. Wish he would put more vids out.

  • Yea, between you and me, I think he's kinda slack.... : )

    Sorry for the wait.

I did three at once this time. It took ages, I almost gave up!....I won't do that again. Hopefully I'll be able to release them a bit quicker in tha future.

  • yeah damn, its about time. i wish i had seen this like... 8 months ago...

i have had my dreads since may and i definitely think wax helps them from fusing together with other dreads. i had to have some serious dread intervention when mine became one massive dread in the back of my head. (they are looking fine now though.)

  • Woot!

  • i love DHHQ. its awsome. your awesome. your dreads rock, i want myne like yours! thanks for everything and keep making vids, the people need ya!
