hey are very crushed....The HVX is a terrible low light camera...not to mention it records black as a hazy dark gray...so you always have to adjust it down to get true black...BUT in sufficient light you can get some great images from the HVX.
I agree with you about the hvx being terrible in low light, but what you say about the blacks actually isn't the case. The camera will certainly produce true black on its own. It may not look that way on the viewfinder but it's there. It all depends on your lighting to get what you want. If I have to crush the blacks, it's because I screwed up the lighting. It's not the camera's fault.
if you scope the footage....(any raw hvx footage at any exposure) you'll find it reads about 9-10 IRE 7 is black....so it is indeed not ever black until fixed in post. This is documented by smarter and more experienced people than me. And also by me.
look like it was professionally made. cool

So how do you personally feel the HVX handles low light and shadows? Did you crush the blacks on this piece because I don't see noticeable artifacts.

Well the 200A is a bit updated than the 200.
The body is the same, but the sensor has been updated for noise and such. It looks a lot better it is also less muddy.

Does anyone know the difference between the HVX200 and the AG-HVX200A ? OR is it the same camcorder?
