orfeus80: The entire libretto with English translation is on the Giovanni Pacini fan site, on the libretto page. At some point I'll get around to uploading the score, too. It's a thrilling opera, and it desperately needs a revival (last performed in 1885). This performance was from Modena, November 15 1984. PS - Pacini only wrote about 75 operas, not 90.
@coloraturafan you're right, but I was too brief. I was referring to Italy. I meant that in our "conservatori" chamber music is a bit neglected. we have a culture in Italian opera, and so is very difficult to interpret these authors. I do not know the rest of the world: in germany is perhaps simplest. in USA?
@DrLohengrin Only 5 works of Pacini (he has written about 90) have been recorded in full and is represented very little, usually at festivals (Giacosa, Martina Franca, etc.). His "bad luck" is to have lived (1796-1867) at the same time of too many great Italian authors. Moreover, such a work of Pacini and Bellini, Donizetti, Verdi, Rossini, etc.. ... there is a difference!
Please post more from this precious recital!!!

Incidentally, this is Beatrice's aria-finale (with the pertichini cut) from Bondelmonte (Florence, June 1845).

@pacininut thank you! I was waiting for details from a more informed Paccini listener. Do you know the name of this aria/scene?

I've always loved Pacini. Why isn't his music performed more?

@coloraturafan because it is too difficult in singing!

@12adorno I agree his music is difficult, but no more so than Donizetti, Bellini and Mercadante.

@12adorno So in Italy it is difficult to interpret Italian authors who wrote operas for Italy? It sounds nonsensical.

Beautiful, controlled singing. Like fine wine, she improves with age.
