You know, it's all a matter of taste, and there are any number of guitar players in this style who can flat tear it up, but for my money, Angelo's the MAN.
I saw M. DeBarre in concert not long after ths video was made and he played the more traditional unamplified style with a beautiful sound. He never uttered a word all night until a "Thank you" after the last number,Dave Kelbie doing all the talking. He let his music speak for itself - and it did so eloquently.
Heh my friends saw him here in Austin and they said he didn't speak all night til someone yelled out his name, to which he replied "It is me! I am here!" The audience got a big laugh out of that.
there is special guitars for this kind of music guitare de jazz manouche in france lol tue bgridge is not the same as a folk guitar it'sa major difference for the sound amps are not very important cause its acoustic instruments sry 4 the english

Bireli fait du remplissage, mais Angelo non...
Il joue avec le coeur et l'ame. C'est Django avec 4 doigts version 2000.
Par contre le violoniste est un peu "out of africa" sur cette scène. Il a pas le truc à la Grapelloche.

What kind of amplifiers are these guys using to still give the guitar that manouche sound?
deadwoodmountain 5 years ago
Lots of the guys use AER Cubes - but they can make anything sound that way - its in their fingers.
