I MET BRYAN RUSSEL ONCE AND I SAID, HEY YOU PLAY BALL HUH, HE'S LIKE SOMETIMES, GAVE ME HIS AUTOGRAPH, SHOULD HAVE ASKED HIM, SO WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO PLAY JORDAN AGAIN LOL
I never got all the negativity about this speech. He's not Ghandi. He's not Martin Luther King. This isnt "I Have a Dream" for cryin out loud. He's a retired pro athlete giving a speech at the Hall of Fame. Gimme a break. My only gripe was that it went on a little too long with the competitive stuff. Dude, we get it. We saw you play. You fucking destroyed everybody they put in front of you. I think its pretty clear how competitive he was.
All that 'organisations win championships' is a load of crap. Michael is totally right. Here was management trying to take credit for the work being done out on the court. In the 'real world' it's much worse. The CEOs make millions while the guys actually doing the work get hardly anything.
People consider this speech arrogant and egotistical. But we're talking about hands-down the greatest player ever to bounce a basketball and a maniacal competitor. The humor in his speech was a lot of fun, and I like that he spoke like he played.
I think I know why he played so good. Competitive people want to WIN every time. That is their nature. Nobody is going to stop them. I've noticed in basketball it seems players change their entire personality when on the floor. kinda of a good and bad quality.
I thought this speech was a great one, Jordan points out what got him up for every game!! He could have been like some of these other players but he looked for motivation in every corner.
Every great sportsman has these types of motivation without them they would not be great and we would not see the best of them!!!
@MrDavehef Im puzzled, I saw this speech a while back on you tube and MJ talked about the cost of a ticket to see his HOF speach tonight verses others before him and how great he was but its not on part 1-3. was it edited to make MJ look like less of a prick?
@julianoa4l he was too busy talking about himself. the true greats dont self promote they thank the others that helped get them there. m.j was the greatest ATHLETE to ever play basketball. not the best BASKETBALL player.that would go to bird or magic. many people dont realize that there is a huge difference. it also takes court vision and and smarts. bird and magic made thier teams better from day 1. jordan made his stats better. lets face it he was a ball hog for most of his career.
does anybody ever give phil jackson any credit tho? i think hes a damn genuis. i hope everyone remembers the bulls making it to the eastern conference semi finals in the 1995 nba playoffs with pippen and rodman during jordans first retirement.
@jhhead MAgic & Bird made their teams better bcuz they had real teams to play on from day 1, FACT.
and yes JOrdan was the best athlete & best bball player ever, get over it, neither of these guys had the drive that MJ or Scottie had, Magic even admitted it to Jordan that he couldnt keep up with him, & I believe Bird himself called Jordan God after Jordan kicked his ass
@theiveslikeus lol this is like arguing with a deaf mute. bird said that statement about mj after he scored 63 points in a playoff game in 1986 that the bulls lost by the way,AND GOT SWEPT, then got swept again in 87. jordan kicked birds ass? who won the game and the series? mj never beat bird. not even one game in the playoffs.
@jhhead you're the only one who thinks that Bird beating an undermanned Jordan & the Bulls is a great accomplishment, I highly doubt Bird himself considered it a great feat beating an under .500 ballclub and i really doubt the sports experts at the time gave the Bulls a real shot at beating the Celts, IMO I dont think Shaq ever felt beating the Clippers was some sort of real accomplishment, BIrd couldnt stop MJ but the Celts had way too many stars, plain & simple
@theiveslikeus bird played on a great team from day one? here is some more history for you. in 1978 the celts had the worst record in the east. last place. birds rookie yr, with basicly the same roster went from last to first. they improved by 32 games. it was the best single season turnaround in nba history up to that point. they didnt have parrish, mchale d.j. and no, magic and larry didnt have to keep up with mj . bird and magic were much SMARTER players than mj. made thier TEAM better.
@jhhead im aruguing with someone who thinks the nba started in 1992. you see great players have an impact and influence on thier TEAM. not thier NUMBERS. those of us that watched jordan and even sportscasters would say that for the first 6 yrs of his career mj was a ballhog. TEAM wasnt in his vocabulary. bird and magic had amazing court vision and involved thier teammates.
@jhhead so great players dont have great numbers? I guess the HoF will be calling for Brian Scalabrine then, and LOL @ the notion that Jordan never impacted his team, Pippen didnt do sh*t for anybody after leaving the BUlls, matter of fact neither did anybody else from those Bulls teams
yeah it must've been hard for guys like Worthy Kareem, PArrish, Mchale DJ & Coop to get involved , yeah you're right Jordan had it easy with the great Dave Corzine & Brad Sellers dominating the league eh?
@jhhead smarter doesn't necessarily mean better you nimrod, Bird wouldnt last 5 seasons on those garbage Bull teams of the early 80's he woulda worn himself out much sooner,
Magic woulda demanded a trade to a real team, saying Bird & Magic made their team better is like saying Jeter makes a garbage Yankees team better, all your silver lining arguments can't cover up the fact that Jordan was overall that much greater than those guys
@jhhead , so thanking Scottie Pippen, Dean Smith, Phil Jackson, his bros. & sisters, his Mom, David Thompson, Pat Riley is self promoting? quit your crying already, it's tiresome & irellevant, so what if Magic & Bird had better court vision or smarts, he's not the fucking coach and he's not the point guard idiot, that's like faulting Pujols for not being able to throw a changeup
JOrdan was the better BBaller/athlete/ defender/ competitor/ gambler/ womanizer/ & still has his health MJ =GOAT!
what did the guys scream out?

Everything Jordan says is true his failures is what motivated him to the top. Now if only LeBron could do the same this season comming up
