definitely one of the hardest songs our choir has ever sang. i was a freshmen at the time and freaked cause i had no idea what i was doing. turned out okay though.....
I am in LOVE with this song My choir sang this last year it was so mach fun to do and i must say we came pretty close we got Superiors cuz of this song
I was reading a lot of the comments and it seems a lot of people are upset that fans associate this song with Xena? Or at least that's what I'm reading. I'm a HUGE fan of the show and the Xena theme is what brought me to first hear the song Kaval Sviri. It's obvious it is not the same song but it is also apparent the theme was based off this particular one. The original is STUNNING to say the least but when I hear it.....I can't help it....it makes me think of Xena. LOL!
@ioanpena Really? I didn't know that! I do know that the producer for Xena, Rob Tapert, said there was a lot of asian influence as well when creating the show. The last episode is kind of a tribute to that.
@RachandRams Hercules was a halfgod in Greeck mithology. His father was Zeus the greatest god in greeck mithology and lived in Olympus montain in the Balkan peninsula...500 miles south from where i live...
heard them many years ago...in a japanese commercial and since then I've been haunted by these magical voices....they not only give me goosebumps, but are the fantastic example of dyschordic polyphony sounding unbelevable.....and being a person with an absolute pitch,I can identify so many different harmonic chords that I get impressed each time listening to this celestial piece....but the best example is the first song in a video on YT from Vancouver I think...I was stunned!!!!<3<3
wow this is very beautiful! I've heard this form of music before but never knew who sang it or where is originated! glad I found it! again very beautiful music!
What's the problem with some meanie guys here criticizing others for their culture and country or even personal choices in life. You must accept the fact that Xena was a good as **** show and half of it because it contained elements of traditional Bulgarian songs. This one is officially recognized as Xena sound WHY do you try to hide it so much? As if Xena character is a prostitute and insults the folklore music. Get a life morons.
@LichexJenkins LOL I just noticed you're just a kid that comes from a country with no cultural tradition whatsoever. Disregard my previous comment, I shouldn't expect any basic knowledge about the world demonstrated by someone like you. Continue watching your "series" - one day you'll eventually grow up, learn this and that about the world and understand that TV series may not be the key to life and knowledge...
@LichexJenkins The problem was only that you were ignorant as to where the music is from. It's folklore. It carries tradition beyond your understanding. It means more than your ignorance can handle. As a matter of fact this very piece of music was never used by Loduca, as it belongs to another composer. Loduca did use Bulgarian singers and even a couple of real folklore songs (on a not very professional level), but not this very one.
Funny, but you wouldn't stop proving to be a moron...
@Firewalkerbg I just removed all my comments for you canse you seem to be unable to handle it that i like Xena the warrior princess. My comment originally had nothing to do with ignorance or culture. It meant, cause i heared the xena theme song paticly, that i am a fan. Nothing more nothing less.
Now please, dont waste anymore of my time and quit replying, cause the more you call me a moron, the more you proof to be one yourself:)
@LichexJenkins I totally get you.You have to note though, bulgarians are very passionate about they're old culture and heritage.I apologise on theyre name.
@Firewalkerbg He did took the melody...I think...We all have ears. And who are you to criticize what country has tradition and culture? Who are you that criticizes what others like and if they are grown up? If you have some knowledge as you trying so hard to show then why don't you tell us about personal choices? Not every people in this world face the truth that you meanie people try to accept. For me Xena and many series come from real life even if they are somewhat untruthfully sometimes
@HaloFSky Since you can only see half of the conversation I don't see on what grounds are you even talking back to me. I don't have to excuse or explain myself for the fact that I afforded myself to point out the obvious ignorance in terms of folklore tradition, world culture and history. It's insulting that this song, which carries my NATIONAL culture is belittled to the name of some TV series. It's a couple of centuries older. That's what gives me the right to criticize the ignorance.
@Firewalkerbg These TV series also carries something the most important Greek culture and it changed it a bit but with a nice way, no one misunderstood the production neither the LoDucas inspiration from Bulgarian music. Even if I didn't noticed I always knew that he was inspired by a very important deep music like Bulgarian. People are not stupid they say Xena because that's what comes to our mind but we know the roots of the music. And at the end it is not your own music to even bother
@HaloFSky Well, apparently, my friend, you have not read the messages I was responding to, as their author got the decency to delete. They were indeed insulting. I know how the Greek treasure their culture, and Bulgarians are no different than that. If one told you the ancient Greek culture was nothing more but something you see in a casino in Las Vegas you'd feel the same as me :) Don't judge too fast, ok? :)
I am from Thraki, in Greece and my grandmother's family origins are from East Romulia in Bulgaria. Every time I listen to this I feel a bound in my heart!
"madre, il flauto suona: ti ti suona in ogni angolo del villaggio. Madre andrò a vederlo, a vederlo e ascoltarlo. Se è un ragazzo del nostro villaggio lo amerò, ma per poco, ti ti. Se è uno zingaro invece lo amerò per tutta la vita, ti ti" Mother, the flute plays, ti ti plays in every corner of the village. Mother, I'm going to see it to see and hear it. If it's a boy of our village I'll love him, for a while, ti ti If it's a gipsy I'll love him for all my life, ti ti
Sicher! Nur nicht aus Bulgarien!
This song is amazing, simply because of all of the musical concepts it contains... A full range of dynamics; compound time signature with a complex, but "feelable" rhythym; tension; dissonance and resolution... it tells a story.
After 20 some-odd years since the first time I heard this exact piece, it still remains one of my favorites.
@ thegogo1993 Here is my suggestion. Type Malka moma in the search bar and hit the first result that comes up. You could even see Malka moma located in the Related Videos on the right-hand side of this song (Kaval sviri). Then you might wanna check out the profile of bulgad - the person who uploaded Malka moma. He has plenty of these truly amazing songs by the Mystery (or Magic) of Bulgarian Voices..... :)
The song is about a girl who listens to a kaval (some kind of wooden flute) playing somewhere in her village so she says to her mom that she will go find out who is actually playing the kaval. She goes: If it's the lad from the neighborhood, I will love him till tomorrow... If it's that stranger from the other village, I'll love him forever :)
@milatamila :) It's such a cool song. Our choir director said it was sung as a kind of metaphor of how they (girls) were often forced into arranged marriages, but they could not be forced to love someone. What an awesome message for an amazing song.♥
Translation: A piper is playing in the village. Mother, if that piper is from our village, I will love him from today till tomorrow around noon. If he is from a neighboring village, though, I'll love him my whole life.
Kaval is a pipelike instrument, title means Kaval is playing or something like that ;)
