  • Hardly any bad dogs, but plenty of bad owners.

  • That looks like a really cool.

  • My German Shepherd is far more enveloped & entertained with bully sticks than he is with the kong toy. I do think the kong toy is lovely but doesn't keep him occupied nearly as long as a bully stick which enchants and engrosses him. Also, you couldn't pay me to fill it with the crap that is in the kong cheez whiz type filler that is sold. I'd rather freeze a mix of healthier treats. I feed my dog Innova and am not about to feed it the junk that is in that tin of spray "food". Just me.

  • you wlll always get a negatve reply... as per below..... if you think its to small for your dog... then you would just buy the bigger one.... ? ? simple !!!!

  • @bobskmix eletendre is a well respected trainer, and his videos are very helpful to a lot of people on here. It does surprise me that he didn't decide to delete this video. Clearly, he made a mistake... or just overlooked it. Maybe he was aware the Kong was too small, but didn't have a Large one handy for the video. Even so, it's going to confuse a lot of people who are viewing. Mistake for him to not delete this video. He must've seen all these replies by now.

  • too small for that dog

  • wow- great tip...putting kongs on a fence!! really?? i soo could have used that tip when my dog as a pup was chewing the cable wire outside the house.

    thanks!

  • Kong toys are great, just make sure you pick the correct size for your dog. They make the extra tough black ones now for intense chewers or really big dogs. Keeping them clean is something you have to do as well. I use cream cheese in my dog's Kong. you have to clean them well after that.

  • My puppy only licks the inside of the kong toy to get to the peanut butter....and its the smallest kong toy on the market

  • The size of that Kong is way to small for that dog. My Golden's Puppy Kong is bigger than that.

  • We've got a floatable Kong for our Border at out cottage. In the summer, we typically spend hours throwing it in the lake for him to chase it. Gives him some great exercise, and needless to say, it's his favourite toy.

  • my dog toy is better. check it out on you tube: tough as a rocco dog toy.

  • good ideas about the fence

  • I use a bottle brush to clean inside them.

  • maybe that's a stupid question but i want to know. How do you clean it?????

  • @nataliawasilewska97 : they sell a dishwashing type brush that is shaped accordingly and especially for the toy. I ended up using the brush to wash the dog's dishes with as he hasn't enough interest in the kong toy as he does in Bully sticks.

  • I have GSD/Siberian Husky mix that ripped apart the large red one. Now he's got the XL Extreme Kong

  • @magnumxlpi really thats what i have...a GSD/Siberian Husky...i never gave her the large red one and just gave her the large black one...i think its the XL Extreme...i got her that one because she is a chewer...i find her an interesting mix...does yours sing to songs and cell phones?

  • My GSD, who is very trained, loves kong toys. Every single bone, chew toy, tennis ball, anything, she would break them in a few seconds. But she has never broken a kong. :) The kong ball is her favorite and we play fetch with it every day.

  • Wont the dogs swallow those?

  • thats why there is different sizes.....

  • they make them in sizes big enough for polar bears

  • My dog is bored by Kong's. But he loves the Everlasting Treat Ball. He'll gnaw at that sometimes for hours.

  • My chihuahua loves her kong... I stuff it with soft cheese/bacon treats. Her eyes go wide when I pick it up and she goes crazy jumping around if she sees me stuffing it. lol

I need to get another one for when I'm gone for the house for a long time (it's better than her chasing the 2 kittens and 2 older cats haha!)

  • i caNT stop laughing....they don't even try to sit...itn just comes out....on your white wall....and then look up at you.....i don't know who is more surprised....and then there is thAT moment when you eyes ;meet......and everything about them says ...dude i could do nothing to stop that

  • oh man thanks for the laugh..luke13PL...i now what you mean!!!! man that comes out at the speed of light and hits everything!!!!

  • wat is penut butter supposed to do inside that they cant get there mouth in there to eat the penut butter >.>

  • he gets his tongue in there. my dog's fave is liverwurst.

  • you a bit of a penut int ya?!

its a challenge for them they get it out by persistance. its a good toy to keep them busy and to work their jaws when they chew it. i have the big boy kong its well worth it.

  • im thinking about putting PB in ours for our puppy but im wondering if it could become a mess

  • nope. it does not become a mess. my dog gets his on the couch when I snack in front of the tv. no mess. if yourbcouch is made of something fine, light colored, or expensive - like white silk or velvet or something, put an old blanket. but it's ok on the floor. the stuff is inside the toy and the only way your dog gets it is by licking. nothing falls on the rug.

  • Comment removed

  • 20 bucks for the extreme kong well worth it for a Boxer, and the peanut butter is a good thing.

  • hey..

you can fill the toy with all sorts of things..

You can take some of the dogs dry food and sobe it in water and stuff it in and put the toy i the freezer..

or liver paste, just use your imagination...

    or look at google :P

  • Can you give another example of a thing you can put in the kong because peanut butter dosnt sound like a good food for a dog.tanks.

  • Peanut butter is great for kongs! Make sure you get an organic peanut butter becaus eall the salf isn't that great for pups.

You can put basicly anything you want in a kong.

My pup like cottage cheese the best.

  • how about treats? duh!

  • yes but you need something that smells for the dog to stay interested. penut butter is good for dogs

  • My Dog is lovin Kong, too!

  • im just worried that the dog could swallow the kong toy if its a small size and i dont want replies saying "get a bigger one"

  • They make them in different sizes for that reason. They make them big enough for polar bears. Seriously, if you go to most zoos you'll see giant kong toys in with the bears. If they make them for polar bears I'm sure you can find one for your dog.

  • i once gave peanut butter to my weim puppy then later that day he had EXPLOSIVE diarrhea..... and im not exaggerating when i say explosive

  • lol its kinda obvious isnt it

  • I love the kong toys and so does my WFT, it's actually the only toy he can't destroy within minutes or hours, these actually survive months, lol.

Stuffing them with peanutbutter: no thx, to fat.

Still great vids, thx for posting them

  • Selah (my husky) doesn't like her kong.

  • Peanut butter in NOT GOOD for your dog its has E additives, sugar and salt and is high in fat, fill it with something more natural, there are some good dog liver creams or freeze some quality food and put it in the KONG.

  • Yeah...I'm sure that a spoon of peanut butter, a little piece of chockolate or a lick of ice cream is gonna kill a medium size dog : )

  • the tinyest bit of chocolate accually could...

  • What is wrong with high fat content in a dogs diet? They are carnivores and actually do well on fat.

  • i stuff my dogs kong with peanut butter, dog buscuits and natural yoghurt all mixed together.freeze it,and give it to her.she goes mad for it.

  • i cant beleive i never thought to put soft food in my dogs kong !?! i just put kibble's in and it lasted about ten mins before he got them out, i'm gunna try some peanut butter and kibble's and then freeze it for him ;) thanks people (check out my pup oscar, he's a star)

  • I want peanut butter too

    :(

  • Just got my dog one of these. These used to whimper in her crate when she was wet after coming inside from the rain. Right now, she has been in her crate HAPPY for the last fifteen minutes with her new toy. Just put some peanut butter and a few food kibbles in it. Might try the Kong paste sometime.

  • in the summer, we stuff the kong with peanut butter and freeze it. yummy + refreshingly cool!

  • My rottweiler has smashed his head against the wall, trying to take out the little spider that came inside this Kiong Toy

  • I wonder if that works on humans ... make my chocolate last a little longer :D

  • Good videos & kudos for your book! My dog shreds kong toys into little pieces...they're good for about a week or less... the best one they make is in the shape of a football, he'll leave those intact for up to 6 months! Silly APBT!

  • mine does the same thing he chews his kong toys into little rubber rings and they will last him about a week

  • kong makes a harder more dense toy (usually black) it is labeled for tougher chewing dogs. its a few dollars more, might last longer... save you some money

  • we just got a cockapoo

what size kong do you recomend hes 1 year old

we got a kong and it looks like a disk but hes not very interested in it...what do you suggest

  • Kong is my dogs favorite toy even empty. He likes to play fetch with it. It bounces in different directions when thrown because of it's snowman shape. When there's a piece of biscit deep inside that he can't get to he'll climb up on the sofa armrest and toss the kong in the air as high as he can by snapping his head back to try to knock the peice out on the floor. (kinda drives me crazy because half the time the kong rolls under the sofa, & I have to get it before he paws the sofa to death)

  • Kongs are great! But make sure you choose the appropriate size. You do NOT want you dog to get frustrated with the song and attempt to swallow the entire kong. The Kong shown in the video is inappropriate for this size dog; as you can see the kong is big enough to swallow the enitre kong; you don't want to come home and find a dead dog. Make sure the Kong is large enough not to be swallowed.

  • I agree with you on that. Also if a person has a puppy or small dog, they make kongs that are a bit easier to chew, not to mention you shouldnt give a little dog too big of a kong.

  • @1SOF1 thanks for info, good thought

  • I bought kongs for each of my dogs last year. Just love it.

So I also recommendint...well I do work in a petshop so I tell people all the time to buy it..and they do!

  • wich size is this kong?

    it looks small

  • Anarchist Peanut Butter is a great treat for dogs its similar to humans and chocolate, if eaten on a regular basis it is unhealthy but rationing it is fine and your dog will love it! the Kong company says so themselves!

    ********************************************

Some dogs are allergic to Peanut Butter make sure your dog isnt before using as a treat, if your worried peanut butter is causing your dogs teeth to rot then simply don't give it to him a good substitute would be cheese(s)

  • he said in another video that he gets peanut butter WITHOUT SUGAR. so shut it.

  • lol well he has been dog training for 18 years? i think he knows a bit more than u do.

and b4 you go saying anything learn to speek..soz to break it to u but worser isnt a word..!

  • Yeah, yeah, as long as you don't wright dutch like i wright English you better say nothing.

I thought he was good with dogs but after watching 10videos i did't like it anymore.

He has traint dogs, that you can tell, but it's not because you traint dogs a while you now everything about dogs.

Sugar and dogs is not done, maybe 20years ago they did't put sugar in peanutbutter, now they do.

His technics are old or older, calling himself the amazing dog trainer is going over the edge.

  • By far the stupidest post ever on Youtube. They still make sugar free peanut butter. Yes most peanut butter does have sugar, but if you weren't a moron you'd be able to figure out which brands don't have sugar in them.

  • yeah, Do you think that people ho watched this video is going to look for sugar-free peanut butter if you don't tell them.....?

  • Watch the vid 'Dog Training - Learn how to train your dog obed...'

It's just hilarius and every self respecting dog trainer must be insulted, i now i'm....

Don't believe everything they put behind your trought, you are not in America........

  • Peanut butter, the real kind, is just ground peanuts. Only the junk food kind has sugar in it.

  • Good treat...But if you own a power breed, you have to play it by dog.But I'd recomend it for any puppy...Again,great vid',Eric.

  • lol my dob loves these i like put bunch a penut utter in it and a million buisciuts took him about 3 mins to empty it : )

  • Does the dog have to break the kong toy to get the food meaning we have to buy a new one like every day?

  • no thats what the hole in the bottom is for they like stick their tounge in it and like out the penut butter one kong will last like a year and a half probably more

  • the point of neutering is to stop, iresponsible breeders from breeding dogs. That way only responsible ones are breeding nice healthy dogs.

Also stops dogs from dying at shelters.

  • Thats kinda like saying everyone person in the world could be neautered. There are millions, upon millions of dogs... they could never all be neautered. Its just a good idea so the offspring aren't dicarded with little care...

  • My sister's dog is a food-holic -- in fact, she has to be kept crated when no one is home (which isn't often) because she cruises the counters and table for food. But she has absolutely no interest in the Kong toys, no matter what we stuff them with. I feel so bad that she needs to be in the crate with nothing to do. Anyone have any other toy recommendations?

  • i just adopted a dog yesturday and u are giving me so really helpful tips thanx mate ur awesome

  • I have a Belgian Shepherd and he got one of those as a pup. Now he has become "one with the ball"... He never leaves it out of sight and always drags it with him.. He's become inseparable from his Kong ball

  • "one with the ball" NICE! XD I need to get one of those!

  • *chuckles* i have a rottweiler that is the same way. He is all about the Kong.

He has also managed to destroy two of them so far, the harder, vulcanized rubber black ones.

  • My friends pit will chew on it for an hour or two and he will get a corner of it off and its done for within 30 minutes. shreds of black rubber EVERYWHERE.

  • does it work for kids too.

  • Hahaha now I have a mental image of children nawing on Kong toys!

  • ''Dog Playing with Kong (Toy)'' is so cute!!!!

  • my dog is so smart that instead of biting it to get the treat out he somehow figured out that chucking it at the floor makes it come out faster with less effort

  • both of my dogs o the same thing that or just destroy the toy

  • @raff608 my dog is so smart it has developed apposable thumbs and ripped it out

  • ok this is another ive been wondering. i know alot of people havent thought of this, but i have a really important question. How Long Should You Train Your Dog A Day?

ive done the "no jumping" thing and Rascal kinda calms, but still does it. ive been training him about 5 hours a day. is it too long or not enough. he has been neutered if it matters cuz he jumped before he did too. thanks if you answer and im sure others will appreciate the answer too.

i love you eric, my dog is great!

  • I'd be really interested in two things; how did you manage to to train your friends not to REWARD your dog for jumping up? It took me 25 years to 'train' my Husband! Also, how do you find 5 hours a day to train your dog? I must be going wrong somewhere, I can only play with my three for about an hour... I'm doing something wrong!

  • the most you should train a dog is ten minutes. 30 minutes is too long and yet you went 5 hours! dogs lose interest after 20 minutes.

if it still jumps its because the training was too long and not fun.

  • I recommend Kongs all the time in my training classes. Size UP! Never give a dog ANYTHING that they can get the whole thing in their mouth. I love using peanut butter, but never anything that can spoil, like the cream cheese mentioned in this video. They are GREAT in crates, to give the dog something to do. I clean mine w/ a baby bottle brush & hot soapy water. Don't overuse crates, and PLEASE be responsible...gently train your dog and spay or neuter!! Love & exercise, too, of course!

  • Yes Plz Spay & Neuter a Man actually had the nerve to put ME down the other day for Neutering my PIT BULL uhhhggg I explained to the idiot that there is enough of these dogs being abused, neglected and fought and plenty of them in shelters that NEED a family so desperatly to love that to breed a Pit right now IS CRAZY NOT TO MENTION I'D NEVER TRUST ANYONE WITH MY PRECIOUS PITS.

  • That is so sad, there are thousands of dogs put to sleep in shelters because there's not enough adoptees. I think choosing NOT to spay or neuter is almost always for selfish reasons. Good for you especially for being a responsible Pit Bull owner too! :)

  • If you are a responsible owner, you shouldn't NEED to cut your dogs gentials off/out. Period.

If cutting off thier gentials was such a great way to keep thier temperment in control, more HUMANS should be spayed/neutered.

  • dog and human psychology are VASTLY different. neutering a dog does not yield the same psychological effects as a man having a vasectomy. lmfao @ you.

  • And of course, you have...proof right? Can point me studies that are not biased?

  • I agree with mdfrailey... Unless the dog's awake without drugs during surgery, no dog would have the understanding to be traumatized by it.

And I also agree with IvanOtter... I think castrating humans for repeated bad behavior, such as sex offenders, would be very effective, As long as it was done just as humanely as dog neutering was done.

  • u m

  • How do you clean it?!

  • sweet thanks

  • If your dog can swollow the kong then you need a bigger size

  • I get a disposable cup, fill it with dog biscuits, then water, and freeze the whole thing. It becomes a chew toy and slows her down from gobbling her dinner like a vacuum. Bet she gets a brain-freeze though.

  • ooo thats a good idea...im gunna try that

  • Glad to be of service :)

  • lol, how is that mean?

Mean is leaving your dog without anything to do.

Remeber, dogs don't always have the same mindset as people do.

  • eletendre1 i got a quistion i heard those kind of toys can get stuck in ur dogs throth is that true? becuse i dont want my dog to choke

  • If you get the right size kong for your dog(big dog big kong, lil dog lil kong) then there should be no problem with the dog swollowing it

  • K thanks for telling

  • where is the link i cant find it but also i want to say that i love your videos they realy made training my dog easy:)

  • Thanks for the kind words and the link for my website is right up under the subscribe button. Click on the more info link and you'll see it.

    Thanks,

    Eric

  • This guy used to be yet another frustrated owner of a dog, before he got up to speed on how to train and work with dogs. He shows what anyone can do when they put in the time and effort into truly becoming a dog's best friend. Dogs are worth the time and effort, always.

  • My dog is always digging, chewing on my plants and trees--the kong in the fence is so simple I will have to try it!

  • 1 more thing, do u have any ideas of what else i can put in a kong besides treats/food and peanut butter?

  • You could try socks. Toothpaste. Maybe the wax from a lavalamp. It's amazing what you can get in there if you try. Staples, toothpicks, marbles...

Wait, did you mean for the dog to eat? oh...oh scratch that. Yeah... bad idea.

  • Have you ever watched your dog doing what he likes best? I bet it's getting the marrow out of a bone! The Kong is nicer because you can CLEAN it and not give the dog a tummy upset. It's trying to find something they can't get out in a minute and a half! You should read up on doggie psychology before you drive your dog mad with boredom!!

  • yes there is try fish

  • my dog has gotten so good with kongs that he can empty it in about 2 minutes or less so i stopped giving him kongs

about a year ago tho i learned about a way to make kongs a lot more challenging

after ur done stuffing it just spread some more peanut butter over the top and put the kong in the freezer

just thought i would mention that but thanks for posting this video i really enjoyed it

i really like training dogs, i think ill check out ur book

  • My dalmatian puppy will only chew the part that is sticking out the Kong. Once that's gone, she will abandon it or wait for me to push it out for her. What can I do?

  • I think your situation is hopeless. You might want to consider putting it down.

  • how mean i give this poor comments #4

  • my rescue dog came from a home without socialization(kept in backyard for her two years of life with no affection)and doesn't have a lot of skills down. she seemed bewildered by the kong toy. any way to get her interested in it?

  • You are awesome! Thanks for making all of these great videos.

  • Thank you, I appreciate your comments.

    All the best,

    Eric

  • U R THE BEST!!!

  • Thank you!

  • check the video ''Dog Playing with Kong (Toy)''

    its so cute!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for the video - you do good videos and your always pleasant to watch and listen to. Just a quick question - when doing off leash walking with my dog through the forest she walks about 2 metres behind me - is that bad, should I make her walk closer to me? thanks

  • My Soston Terrier loves her puppy Kong. Hadn't thought about using Peanut butter. Great idea.

  • I found that after I put peanut butter in the toy my dog would lick it clean after a couple of minutes and be done with it. Not very much entertainment when you're gone all day at work. I put the kong with the peanut butter already inside in the freezer overnight. It entertained my dog much longer during the day and the holes in my yard stopped popping up!

  • Same thing happened today... Actually, I finished the jar of peanut butter while he sat and watched me. DOES ANYBODY ON YOU TUBE have any videos of dogs actually playing with them in the ways described by their hype ???

  • same, my dog looks at his kong with disdain.. maybe we will try again..!!

  • My dog likes empty pepsi bottles though...

far less costly than kong toys... he likes to throw them, catch them and all sorts of stuff.

  • Love your videos... my poodle HATES the Kong Toy, but I like the liver paste... tastes like cheeze wiz. On the other hand, his amazed by empty coke bottles.

  • The kong toy is great for intellegant minds. No disrespect to the poodle breed but i was watching a show not too long ago.How smart is your dog. and the tests showed that the poodle was the least intellegant and lost interest in the activities and fogot alot so not such a great toy 4 them

  • My dog was able to follow about 15 commands by his 6 months... learns quickly... and even brings the towelettes to the customers at my shop... doubt its an intelligence issue.

  • I'm sorry to say that you are wrong beckie3889. In a dog magazine the poodle was rated the MOST intelligent dog by how quick it catches on with a command.

  • I read that article to. The command was "Be stupid" Right?

  • Erm...nope, sorry... ^^
