In 1805, Evans demonstrated his first successful self-propelled vehicle, which not only was the first automobile in the USA but was also the first amphibious vehicle in the world, as his steam-powered vehicle was able to travel on wheels on land and via a paddle wheel in the water.

Your copy and paste from wikipedia mentions the "first automobile in the USA" - and it didn't run until 1805.

The only thing that was developed in America was Henry Ford's production line method, making cars cheap. You can lay claim to making cars affordable, but not to inventing anything. And nowadays, your cars are twice as heavy and half as efficient as European and Japanese cars.

The tire pressure needs to be increased to take the weight of the car on the two weels, and the front differential has to be locked or welded so you still get traction on the wheel touching the ground.
