Fantastic, inspirational job on the vid screens. That launch/pod exit sequence should be in the game in my opinion. Just lose the video flicker which would be bad on the eyes. Typo at the end It's unofficial not inofficial - there is no such word.
@hool10 No, in the lore of the game all player characters are pilots called Capsuleers. They are, for all intents and purposes, immortal. They always have clones on standby to transfer their consciousness to in the event of their current body dying. And they operate their ships with their minds inside "pods" that are placed inside your ship of choice.
Hah, yea would suck if you would enter your ship, exit dock, forget something.. have to wait for that damned Scotty, then redock.. get out of your ship all over again then repeat getting out of dock. Would seem that death is not the only inconvenience
I have not done the playtesting yet for the beta Incarna release, but I must agree with most of the comments here: this is a very well-thought out and well-presented idea on how the Incarna expansion should expand on what already makes EVE an incredibly awesome game universe. My question is this: how will it work once Dust 514 comes out?
This is exactly how it should work. When you dock you are presented with the traditional hanger, with the OPTION of pressing a button that will initiate the process of being dumped into captian's quarters. When you get back into your ship, you are again presented with the legacy hanger and must click the "undock" button to undock. CQ should only augment the current system, not a replacement that forces half your player base to buy new hardware or quit eve.
God. I'm addicted to EVE, but the only thing less realistic (and utterly annoying) than a pod are camera drones ...that warp with you. Just make the damn Jovian virtual interface the norm.
I'm looking at this video, and thinking of only one thing: If I was at CCP, THIS is the sort of feedback I would want, as opposed to caps-lock screaming...
A good way to navigate through the screens in the CQ would be right click mouse on a window to zoom in a level and left click mouse to zoom back out a level.
And yeah, using a map interface and system data display like dotlan would be great!
Another note would be to include Reset Camera and View Ship on the menu that appears when you right click on your ship; something for those who want to still spin their ship in the station.
A good way to navigate through the screens in the CQ would be right click mouse on a window to zoom in a level and left click mouse to zoom back out a level.
And yeah, using a map interface and system data display like dotlan would be great!
Great job on the vid, looking forward to Incarna. One thing though, I personally feel that the line "death is an inconvenience" should be changed to "death is but an inconvenience" but that's my preference.
Very good job!! Could have easily been an official CCP video, the quality is that good. I hope they incorporate that transitional video from Walking to pod to ship.
Yep, they listen, and the devs are cool ppl, i'm with you there (go to fanfest). BUT....i have come to learn in all these years that you can't count on them iterating on an incomplete featureset in a timely manner. So, better to get the important things on their FIRST ROUND, you never know when a 2nd will happen (FW anyone?).
thats unfortunate, and true regarding most games. But because CCP is listening i did this video. I don't see it as a negativity, if i wanted to rant i could have done it without spending time on this.
Still, its our job to keep them on their toes to do a good job, feedback, if constructive, is never bad.
@JinRenegade If they foolishly ignore our pleas, I quit eve until they re-think the system. I refuse to be automatically dumped out of my ship every time I dock for the simplest of things. I refuse to purchase new hardware remedy crippling lag to continue to play when CCP could easily cater to average-spec systems by making CQ optional and not a replacement for the already near-perfect docking system.
Absolutely brilliant. I am impressed! It was the first time I ever got a feel for how big the ships really were and how significant becoming a pod pilot was. I would be very impressed if this was how the real intro will do that part. It seriously made me question this own reality is a matrix-sorta way for a minute there, too! Fantastic work!
This was not made from CCP? Boy you sure have talent. I hope CCP will have a look at this and fish ideas. Especialy about the size perspective f ships in game and how they should look from the balcony. yet even bigger for BS would be preffered imho. Cheers.
Ah, don't get the wrong idea, the avatars/room was made by CCP, sure ;) i just added some fluff (voice, hologramm, screen-interface, undocking sequence.....)
No, Incarna is going to be released this summer (next expansion). And part of the interface in this video is "made up" as suggestions after the first Beta.
Me interests the Soundtrack behind the video more then the maybe upcoming WoS which is useless in EvE in my opinion. But ... well ... video is still nice.
I definitely agree that the instead of normal windows popping up like they do now, you should zoom into a monitor/hologram that actually exists in the CQ. The way it is now kills any immersion that Incarna may otherwise create.
I mean, Doom 3 did it 7 years ago, surely EVE can do it.
If imortality means living a bath of orange goo, I'd rather take my chances on the bridge in the captains chair on the left of the ships control panel.
it's worse then you think. In EVE your body gets killed by your pod after a copy of your brainpattern is made, the information sent to a facility where a new body is cloned and the brainpattern applied to it.
Basically, you are not really immortal, it just seems that way for everyone else because the clone behaves like you, knows what you knew and is just a good copy. Even the clone thinks he is you, as he rememberes nothing else.
Well, bad news is your original "you" is still death.
@TNM001 Of course, this is assuming a lot about consciousness that we don't know. If the principles behind quantum immortality are true, then you're beyond wrong. Since you, the player, have a continuity of consciousness between clones, I think that interpretation fits best if you're trying to rationalize your gameplay experience with existential philosophy. :p
from a gameplay perspective, sure, it doesnt matter. it was more of a philosophical discussion, and i don't want to go into depth, it really depends if you see the body as a machine (organic) or if you believe in a soul independent from a body.
well I'm an orthodox so yes i do believe in a soul that is separate from the body so it doesn't realy matter. As a scientist and a logic person though i think of it as a machine (because in science none looks at the soul but at the body as it is, and btw i'm a physist).Anyways in my opinion the soul is semi-separate from the body

CCP definately should get you some nice skillpoints for this and tweak in the future to have this as improved version ofcourse ingame :)
Would be more interesting for nubbies to stay in game maybe to, or at the very least more interesting to start with then what CCP at this moment has.
