My space shuttle atlantis just has smoke coming out of the main thrusters. SRB's are perfect, but not the main engines. help?

@raptorinator This is normal, you never seen a real space shuttle launch have you? The 3 SSME's use oxygen and hydrogen. It does not produce smoke, at best it produces steam, which you can see engulfing the launchpad during launch.

Great video. Thanks for posting. Would you recommend this simulator? I find that Orbiter is too difficult to use. As a teacher, I would like to use this simulator at school to teach space science. Thanks.

@lacone3615 Orbiter is a million times easer. It could be used to show how objects in space keep spinning on forever (if you turn the DAP off) and show just what an elliptical orbit is (If you speed up time and look at the instruments you notice that your altitude goes up and down) and maybe how satellites move relative to each other....and really orbiter is easier...the learning curve of this is more akin to a cliff...in the manual they advise you read NASA's own SCOM at least once :L

you released the rocket boosters too late, they shouldn't float off they should fall.

The booster seperation is automatic. The reason they "floated" away is because I was outside the atmosphere, so there was no drag. Once they seperated, they were still flying forward with me, just not as fast. Eventually, they would fall back down to the ocean.

Why didn't they automatically separate... when they were supposed to?

I don't have the programme, so I don't know anything about it, so please don't think I'm trying to be tacky or anything.

@Cha0sReigns I just tried the pirated version last night. Yes, the entirety from main engine start to MECO is automated, mostly because of clunky controls it would be impossible to do it otherwise. Time critical activities on launch are all automated as well.

dude the rocket boosters have something called A GUIDANCE CHIP

so... the rocket boosters can be released as far as you like it will also autommatticly keep enough fuel to get back.
