I'm confused, in one video Stage 1 remains the same and has a volcanic eruption followed by the boss where in this video, the level gets icy and the eruption is replaced with ships. What is going on here?

no way a joke post. the music from the older games captures the essence of gradius more than the music in grad v. just because its orchestrated doesn't mean it fits with the game. the over the top, sci fi sounding music in the older games fits better

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks that way. That's not to say that newer Gradius games have horrible music, however call me nostalgic, but I do feel this captured the essence of what Gradius is a lot better. I do think that Gradius Gaiden's soundtrack was the perfect compromise between old and new though.

@Dark2Reaper Eh, no. Gradius V's music is very good, but it's NOT the best in the series. Gradius Gaiden had much better music and the music of Gradius II (arcade version) had much better music as well. I'm not saying Gradius V doesn't have good music, on the contrary, I LOVE the music in Gradius V... But it's not the best in the series, sorry. At least, IMO ^^

I have every Gradius game, I even got the PSP imports for Salamander, Parodius, and Twin Bee. Gradius V IMO is probably the best one, but Gaiden is also incredible. So, I cannot wait to see how this turns out.

Gradius 5 was very good but the music wasn't as good as the other games. Plus, the Eastern Island stage was missing. Can't have Gradius without Moais :(.

Well, since ReBirth had the Moais, I guess it makes V forgivable I guess. I disagree, the music in V was really awesome. It was energetic and had a more modern sound, and it's one of my favorite gaming soundtracks. I love the classic tunes of the older games, but this was different since it was a modern game, based on modern technology. Say what you will, but no doubt Gradius V has a lot of respect from lots of gamers ive met.

Gradius V just didn't quiet capture the magic of previous games. Technology ain't sh*t when it comes to creating an excellent soundtrack. It is about substance, variety, and creativity. Most of the music in Gradius V was repetitive and had no substance. No melodies.

Gradius Rebirth soundtrack absolutely blows anything ever made in recent years. Even if most of the tracks are remixes of older tunes, they were arranged perfectly.

It is just an opinion, so don't go hanging yourself :)

@Ivaria In some of the Gradius games, you're actually punished for using the code. You're either killed instantly, or you get to be powered up for a few seconds before you die. Damn shame.

@ShadowBlade79 - Indeed, where those games usually have a new combination involving the extra buttons on the controller (Up, Up, Down, Down, L, R, L, R, B, A, (or in ReBirth's case on Wii Remote - 1, 2,) Start is the usual variation)
