@FocusWithin Yes!!! Fight greed by standing around complaining. Once you get bored of standing around, use your $600 iphone and $1500 macbook, that you most likely paid using student loan money, to get on facebook and twitter so you can complain some more. Grow up and be an adult. The Government does not run the people. The People run the Government. It is not the Government's job to wipe your butt
@Phantom3575 Yes, fascist fuck, I do see a problem. The tea potty is paid for by corporate whores, and the wall street protests (long overdue) are real people. I served in Vietnam, asshole. @Phantom3575 The government does not run the people? What country are you living in? I would like to emigrate there from the USA. Here in the USA, our government has been sticking it's nose up our asses, inch by inch, year in/year out. "The People run the Government" is just a fancy slogan/illusion, invented to let people THINK that are in control. In a little something I call "reality", the people don't control a damn thing. 0.01% of the population, own/run (& fuck up) this country.
@gjc82071 Stop your crying; the 0.01% is tired of carrying you. Apply yourself, do some honest work and perhaps you can be proud of yourself instead of being jelous of someone else.
That a preety bold & baseless assumption. It makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever. Jealous of who? I own my own home, have excellent credit, ample savings/nest egg/investments,etc & a great career. Explain to me exactly who is "carrying" me, & how they are doing it? So you recommend that I get another job/career, on top of my full time job/career? Brilliant. @Phantom3575 This discussion doesn't belong on a page devoted to the Doobie Brothers. But @FocusWithin makes a valid point about the number of arrests.
@Phantom3575 You watch any video footage of the arrest? Wall street protesters are getting arrested because they are fighting the real enemy. They are peacefully protesting as good Americans should and getting arrested and beatin and sprayed with pepper spray and you wanna side with the rich? Really? Get your head out of your ass.
@Phantom3575 Stop copy and pasting someone elses words asshole. No real person in this country actually think the government is being run by the people. You make comments and have no idea what the people are fighting for.
@FocusWithin Fornicating, urinating, and defecating on public property is my problem with this "event". The best part is how none of you are able to reply back to me without blatantly calling me names. I know what I fight for and I see a big difference between the Tea Party Rallies and Occupy Wall Street.
I'm also sorry you have a problem with me stating facts about the event you hold so dear to your heart.
@Phantom3575 fornication, urination, deification, masturbation are all that are left in a nation lacking cohesion education, affiliation, cooperation, consideration and ruled by disinformation. Whether Tea party or OWS the inspiration is the same motivation, the ramifications of extreme socioeconomic stratification.
Anyone who defends the government or the banks is a fool. Wake up. You're being screwed and divided by the same people...
@Phantom3575 If it's "public" property, then that means it's their (protesters) property too. This country has been economically raped & your main concern is that somebody pissed on a tree? Yea, I'd say you have a "problem" alright. A problem with identifying priorities. So amidst all the turmoil, what exactly are you "fighting" for then? Cleaner parks? Unfortunately, you have a right to be gullible & ignorant. Go back to sleep citizen. Your government is in control. Everything is OK.

this song could be played for 20 minutes or more - I would love to perform this song or help perform it - the song lyric meaning could be so many things - mercy/compassion maybe? love McDonald's sound - and of course, the Doobies
We played this song last year in my marching band :) We played Takin' It To The Streets, Play That Funky Music White Boy, Vehicle, and Let's Groove :) I miss our show
This was the first song I heard after Michael McDonald joined the Doobies. It was a major departure from what they had been doing before. In my opinion, this was a move in the right direction musically for the band. A major new direction for this band.
@jwmellott Yes, he's playing and singing backup. On the "taking it to the streets" choruses you can see him in the middle up front; he's the dark-haired guy with the big mustache in the black shirt in the middle. (Unless I am very very wrong about Tom J. all the sudden...it happens as you get older. But I'm 99.999% sure I'm correct.)
Could you imagine David Lee Roth and Sammy Hager sharing a stage with Van Halen? Or have they and I don't know about it? (sigh, forgetful and ignorant...)
I saw him live at one of the 98.9 KWJZ Smooth Jazz Festivals here in Seattle. Unfortunately, a very crappy Sandusky radio stations changed the format to The Click 98.9 in december, 2010! Creeps!
The Dobbie Brothers made some of the best rock'n'roll ever made. I don't believe many can compare with their music including heavy metal or a lot of the other music that has been released since. As far as fast dancing music, you just cannot beat them either. MGM.
Hey, I’m a young artist, & I would really appreciate it if everyone would check out my cover of Michael Bublé’s “You’re Nobody till Somebody Loves You.” Although I’m knowledgeable that Michael Bublé was not the first to record the song, my version was inspired by his rendition, nonetheless. I promise you that you will not regret giving my version of the song a listen, & it will truly knock you off of your feet! So please listen & enjoy! Thanks!
One of the best songs ever. They truly don't make them like this anymore. This was the best type/genre of music I've ever heard and it always will be, especially compare to the music they come out with today.
This really isn't Rock. This is more like blue eyed soul. Its an attempt by a Rock band to do a Soul / Gospel style song. Michael McDonald would go on to do many other songs in this genre. He even did a duet with Patti Labelle.
@AnimeFan275 Agreed. today like this rap crap or this pop bull sucks, today it's about the money and spotlight, back in the days it was about the talent and it meant something. I wonder why I'm still stuck in the past 50's through the 80's is the best era for anything. anyways keep on rocking it.
@AnimeFan275 Rock AND gospel! Listen to those chops from Mike on the keys - pure church, pure Ray Charles blues. Mike wrote this as a direct answer to Marvin Gaye's question to the world - What's Goin On? He was trying to keep the energy going. Pat Simmon's said the first time he heard it he had to sit down - he was stunned and blown away - knew it would be monster. It touches everyone deeply in the soul - the music and words - you cannot help yourself. Fantastic live - thanks for posting.
Awesome. Great live version; the best I have heard and I used to see the Doobs back in the Bay Area in the 70"s. Love how Mac simply saunters onto the stage and starts hitting the keyboard. It's 6:30 in the AM and I've got this cranked up dancing. My morning coffee! Thank you for posting this video.
This album spelled the end of the Doobies for me. They sold their soul with this. They were the best `W Coast` rock band by a country mile, then they tried to get clever. Just didnt work for me.
I don't know if anybody else remembers this but the Doobie Brothers were on an episode of What's Happenin'. The plot involved bootleggers and ReRun hiding a taperecorder in his jacket. Crazy how you can remember stuff from the 70s!
@Kingrob30 Rerun jumps up and down clapping during the show in the high school auditorium and the tape recorder falls out of his jacket! I believe then the Doobies give him a lesson on the wrongs of bootlegging. Sitcoms were so awesome and tame back then!
Awesome Up... Delighted I got to see the Doobies Live in Concert in My day and Mike Mc D solo on a number of Occasions... Now if I could even find just one to smoke it's make this up even better!
Awesome Up... Delighted I got to see the Doobies Live in Concert in My day and Mike Mc D soloo on a number of Occasions... Now if I could even find just one to smoke it's make this up even better!
If this song does not get your foot tapping, nothing well. Michael McDonald has the soul of an African American and the passion of a talented artistist who gives it all in his performances.
Michael McDonald is such a talented musician and what a voice. He has the soul of an African-American the passion to go along with the music He plays. He is humble and quickly gives credit to others.
Takin' it to the streets! Workers rise up! No worker vs. worker mentality! We will not cannibalize each other while the criminals earning $43K an hr. stand by laughing and dismantling our rights. I stand with the workers of Wisconsin! And we're takin' it to the streets across the country! UNION! Wherever you live, go to your Capitol Bldg. this Sat. @ Noon to join the revolution in progress! PEACE
You know, this guy can really "deliver" in the true sense of the word. I know he was a member of the Doobies for some years, but to just "set in", and do such a bang up job on everything, puts him up many knotches in my eyes. I'm talking from a professional musicians standpoint. When you just walk into a band you haven't been with for a while and have to make it all happen, it takes some doin' and this just solidifies, (in my mind) how truly good and professional this man is. Marc Trainor.

It's about time the normal people of the US rose up and told the corporate, bankers and politicans that you don't believe this BS anymore.
Been sheep to the media for far too long, I'm afraid.
The gap between rich and poor when it's managed is good.
Never happen in US, greed is the lifeblood of America. Come on people
Take it to the streets that you have had enough of their corruption. x

The Dobbie Brothers made some of the best rock'n'roll ever made. I don't believe many can compare with their music including heavy metal or a lot of the other music that has been released since. As far as fast dancing music, you just cannot beat them either. MGM.

If there is a better call to action RocknRoll, balls to the wall, git on out and do it song, I'd like to hear it. If not, this will do just fine.

@AnimeFan275
This really isn't Rock. This is more like blue eyed soul. Its an attempt by a Rock band to do a Soul / Gospel style song. Michael McDonald would go on to do many other songs in this genre. He even did a duet with Patti Labelle.
Looking4Legends 5 months ago

This is one of my favorite upbeat songs of "pure" joy that Michael McDonald and the Doobie Brothers do so well together.

I don't know if anybody else remembers this but the Doobie Brothers were on an episode of What's Happenin'. The plot involved bootleggers and ReRun hiding a taperecorder in his jacket. Crazy how you can remember stuff from the 70s!
Kingrob30 11 months ago
@Kingrob30 Rerun jumps up and down clapping during the show in the high school auditorium and the tape recorder falls out of his jacket! I believe then the Doobies give him a lesson on the wrongs of bootlegging. Sitcoms were so awesome and tame back then!

If this song does not get your foot tapping, nothing well. Michael McDonald has the soul of an African American and the passion of a talented artistist who gives it all in his performances.
