  • @Gormaoul 'MERICA!!!!!

  • Awesome and my gosh he looks better then ever! Good for this man! Love the lyrics! God Bless All.:)

  • Michael McDonald's signing is very powerful & heart felt in this song.

This guy is one of the masters of soul period.

  • One of America's all time great bands ever!! This music is ageless.

  • This song goes out to all the people in north Africa and Middle East. This song

goes out to Occupy. This song goes out to WikiLeaks in recognition the internet

is online version of the street. Solidarity and hope to all! Love and tears and

hugs especially for the people of Egypt...

  • These days, The Doobie Brothers aren't the same without Michael McDonald; In fact, they almost suck without him. This is the reason why I say this: Listen to that voice!

  • That is good live singing folks

  • Love it...wish I could click the "like" button a couple hundred more times. Thank You so much for posting this!!!

  • OCCUPY WALL STREET Protesters this is your JAM!!! I salute anyone standing up to Government etc, for a cause!

Michael McDonald can SING! I love that dude. Im 35 now & remember these songs so vividly as a child growing up in the late 70's early 80's!

  • I have the dvd it was a great concert.

  • That cracker can sing!

  • It's about time the normal people of the US rose up and told the corporate, bankers and politicans that you don't believe this BS anymore.

Been sheep to the media for far too long, I'm afraid.

The gap between rich and poor when it's managed is good.

Never happen in US, greed is the lifeblood of America. Come on people

Take it to the streets that you have had enough of their corruption. x

  • Ok lovin this crap!Heres an example of how we are trained mice if you comment too many time you gotta go through the hoops of trying to read a clusterfuck of bs words! what does it really accomplish?anybody can do it for some of us elders it just makes it harder!

  • lol I forgot about chemtrails, they sprayed eastern montana hard today!

  • This song really applies now! infowars site rocks as well!

  • These guys are such superlative musicians...so moving and beautiful. We're so lucky to have had 'em around to enjoy for so many years.

  • Kick ass... I am too old to make an opinion of the music but damn it makes me move.

  • This is a beautiful song.

    I am a fan.

  • This is Occupy Wall Street's theme song.

  • kenny rice and bas rutten brought me here!

  • Occupy Wall Street!

  • @FocusWithin Yes!!! Fight greed by standing around complaining. Once you get bored of standing around, use your $600 iphone and $1500 macbook, that you most likely paid using student loan money, to get on facebook and twitter so you can complain some more. Grow up and be an adult. The Government does not run the people. The People run the Government. It is not the Government's job to wipe your butt

300 Tea Party Rallies = ZERO arrests

    1 Occupy Wall Street = 700 arrests

    Anyone else see a problem?

  • @Phantom3575 Yes, fascist fuck, I do see a problem. The tea potty is paid for by corporate whores, and the wall street protests (long overdue) are real people. I served in Vietnam, asshole. Our four children all worked their way through college (or got scholarships) and have great jobs. Take your Bud swollen tongue and stick it right up my veteran progressive ass.

  • @mollyipowers I'm glad you are so mature that you can stop yourself from calling me names. oh wait....

  • @Phantom3575 The government does not run the people? What country are you living in? I would like to emigrate there from the USA. Here in the USA, our government has been sticking it's nose up our asses, inch by inch, year in/year out. "The People run the Government" is just a fancy slogan/illusion, invented to let people THINK that are in control. In a little something I call "reality", the people don't control a damn thing. 0.01% of the population, own/run (& fuck up) this country.

  • @gjc82071 Stop your crying; the 0.01% is tired of carrying you. Apply yourself, do some honest work and perhaps you can be proud of yourself instead of being jelous of someone else.

  • That a preety bold & baseless assumption. It makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever. Jealous of who? I own my own home, have excellent credit, ample savings/nest egg/investments,etc & a great career. Explain to me exactly who is "carrying" me, & how they are doing it? So you recommend that I get another job/career, on top of my full time job/career? Brilliant. How do you propose 1 does such a thing & why on earth would they? Obviously you're not in the habit if thinking before you write.

  • @HSFalcon1976 All he does is go vid to vid arguing with people look at his comments on his profile. He will argue til hes blue in the face even when hes wrong just ignore him. Hes 39 and acts like hes 10.

  • @gjc82071 ya got THAT right!

  • This is like literally the only song on Youtube, that I can't find the original/studio version of. Sup wit dat?

  • @gjc82071 Look on the first Greatest Hits Album

  • @mantech2000 I searched for that & got nothing. Oh wait......I mean/meant, ON Youtube, hehehe. Yea, I can/did find it online, stores, Amazon, etc. Thanks though.

  • @Phantom3575 This discussion doesn't belong on a page devoted to the Doobie Brothers. But @FocusWithin makes a valid point about the number of arrests.

  • @mantech2000 I am the one that made the point comparing the number of arrests for Tea Party Rallies and Occupy Wall Street

  • @Phantom3575 You watch any video footage of the arrest? Wall street protesters are getting arrested because they are fighting the real enemy. They are peacefully protesting as good Americans should and getting arrested and beatin and sprayed with pepper spray and you wanna side with the rich? Really? Get your head out of your ass.

  • @Phantom3575 Stop copy and pasting someone elses words asshole. No real person in this country actually think the government is being run by the people. I see a problem, you think I want the government to wipe my ass, thats funny because I am for a small government with limited power. Fuckin dick weed, this is about CORRUPTION. You make comments and have no idea what the people are fighting for.

  • @FocusWithin Fornicating, urinating, and defecating on public property is my problem with this "event". The best part is how none of you are able to reply back to me without blatantly calling me names. I know what I fight for and I see a big difference between the Tea Party Rallies and Occupy Wall Street.

I'm also sorry you have a problem with me stating facts about the event you hold so dear to your heart.

  • @Phantom3575 fornication, urination, deification, masturbation are all that are left in a nation lacking cohesion education, affiliation, cooperation, consideration and ruled by disinformation. Whether Tea party or OWS the inspiration is the same motivation, the ramifications of extreme socioeconomic stratification.

Anyone who defends the government or the banks is a fool. Wake up. You're being screwed and divided by the same people...

  • @disconic1 Right on! What a shocker! Somebody who actually calls it like it is!

  • @Phantom3575 If it's "public" property, then that means it's their (protesters) property too. This country has been economically raped & your main concern is that somebody pissed on a tree? Yea, I'd say you have a "problem" alright. A problem with identifying priorities. So amidst all the turmoil, what exactly are you "fighting" for then? Cleaner parks? Unfortunately, you have a right to be gullible & ignorant. Go back to sleep citizen. Your government is in control. Everything is OK.

  • @gjc82071 I am anything but asleep. I see the larger picture of our country and the way all of these OWS protesters have no respect for public property. It is just as much yours and mine. Just as you would not want me to come trash your property, I do not want you to come trash mine. This is what bothers me. I fight for our right for free speech, but in a respectful way. BTW if you truly want to protest something, Why don't you protest one of the biggest benefactors of Wall Street. Barack Obama

  • @Phantom3575 It's called infiltration dude it's a tactic of this gov to put on mainstream news so the flouridated public will accept it.in short it's one of their weopons of the first wave of their offense the second being police intervention the 3rd will be gov't planted aggravators causing damage and violence

  • Hey all PLEASE let us not forget about their divide and conquor stratedgy!educate those not with harsh words but words of intelligence, believe me the flouride ,aspartame and all the shit thats in our food works to their advantage lets not forget that!

  • love it! rocks! thanks fer postin, wicked performance! x

  • love MM

  • Met him when I worked at the airport Hilton in St. Louis. Nice man. Great voice. Killer family!

  • OMG - It's been a looooong time since I heard this song - this live version is "THE ISH" Whhheeeeeewwww yes!

  • Good song for protesting rule 501C4 where billionaires can give any amount of money politicians and by law NOT declare it...

  • what a LEGEND!! keep on singing Michael, u still got it my brother.

  • This is a very well written song. This is what we all should be doing? We are tired of all thes false hope and broken promises we have been getting from the people whowe have bput in position as our mouth piece and leaders. Thank you Doobie Brothers well done. This is very song powerful.

  • God, he can sing... This was real music, and I wasn't even born in 1976 when this song first came out. Now we have Ke$ha...ugh...

  • I'M POSTING THIS ON FACEBOOK FOR ALL THE WALL STREET PROTESTORS...!!!!!

  • #TAKEWALLSTREET

  • OH YOU telling me the things your going to do for me i aint blind and i dont like what i think i see...THIS IS A HEADS UP TO ALL THOSE IN POWER THAT SAY ALOT BUT DO LITTLE FOR THE GOOD OF MAN.....THEIR ALL BUSY LINING THEIR POCKETS WITH WAR WAR AND OHH MORE WAR...THE TIME IS COMING WHEN THE COMMON MAN JUST MIGHT START TO TAKE TO THE STREETS........

  • @zelotalot I hear you man! We're sick of this crap! Power to the people!

  • premonition for OCCUPY WALLSTREET.

  • @zelotalot

WOW you sound SOOO oppressed? Why do people like YOU, need to bring political debates just enjoy the song!!!!

  • Not a real big Doobie fan, but heard this song on the radio today and wanted to watch it. I'm glad I did!!

  • mike's voice is sexy as hell...handsome man...lol...taking it to the streets for real!!!! get down like an old baptiste choir..

  • I love it, in the 70's we were taking it to the streets now they're "waiting on the world to change" big difference

  • I truly love the Doobie Brothers, but Michael McDonald makes me laugh so hard.

  • This is great, but I wish I could find the studio version. Something about the cheering fans just kinda kills it for me. But still an amazing song

  • 38 people cant leave their room never the less even go to the streets!

  • Real music geniuses of our time.Wish could play like them. Go Doobies!

  • THE FOOTY SHOW BROUGHT ME HERE!

  • The Doobie Brothers had that Little Feat groove.

    Blue Eyed Soul?

    Everything is a constant fusion.

Exploiting "The Edge" as you feel it.

Black musical roots used Blue Eyed instruments, and developed how they used them. It all comes down to, getting Down and DOIN IT!

That's the beauty of it all.

  • Just Classic in every sense of the word!

  • Classic

    Nothing else needbe said.

  • this song could be played for 20 minutes or more - I would love to perform this song or help perform it - the song lyric meaning could be so many things - mercy/compassion maybe? love McDonald's sound - and of course, the Doobies

  • whats with that guys stupid hair cut

  • RIP DRUMMER KEITH KNUDSEN.

  • isn't he the don henley of the doobies?

  • We played this song last year in my marching band :) We played Takin' It To The Streets, Play That Funky Music White Boy, Vehicle, and Let's Groove :) I miss our show

  • footy show music

  • wow he doesnt know how to sing brother. his "you dont know but im your braaa ". i love this band. sad to see they lost their mojo in 1996.

  • @BNSF9250 he sounds exactly the same

  • One of rock's greatest and most distinctive voices....

  • We need more bands like this!

  • I never realized how much Michael McDonald looked like Steve Carel with a goatie! 1:09

  • Awesome! A true talent! Many fronts! many skills! Thanks for the memories, A true gift indeed

  • 37 people need hearing aids.

  • @MontyGirl550 -need to go to a special place where the walls are wrapped with padding so that they can't hurt themselves.

  • One of the greatest songs ever recorded!!!! love it!!!!!

  • Can it get any more classic than this? No. It can't.

  • BRING BACK THE DOOBIE BROTHERS!!!! NOW!!!!

  • Reminds me of the marching band competition when we played "Taking it to the Streets" "what a fool believes" and uhh... Minute by minute

  • Comment removed

  • I love it when they keep the live performances true to the studio one. Thanks for posting.!

  • This was the first song I heard after Michael McDonald joined the Doobies. It was a major departure from what they had been doing before. In my opinion, this was a move in the right direction musically for the band. A major new direction for this band.

  • Super video...love it..thanks! :D

  • Good Music!

  • Doobie Brothers! Greatness!,,,

  • 37 morons have watched this video...now go fuck yourself...doobie brothers rule...

  • Was Michael McDonald always a member of the Doobies ? Or did he come along later ? I ask this because I do not see him in earlier videos.

  • @canadaeast

He joined about halfway into the band's original existence. This song was the first single with him.

  • Is this guy Jay Leno's brother?

  • This gives me goosebumps :) thank you legends of music !!!

  • Can we change the Fed Bldg. to the Doobie Bldg? Just wondrin

  • STILL ROCKING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • You don't know me, but I'm your brother. Could I borrow $100, bro?

  • Sin Tyran Porter .......... falta SOUL a pesar del esfuerzo de Michael Mc Donald.....

  • Is Tom J. playing on this tune?

  • @jwmellott Yes, he's playing and singing backup. On the "taking it to the streets" choruses you can see him in the middle up front; he's the dark-haired guy with the big mustache in the black shirt in the middle. (Unless I am very very wrong about Tom J. all the sudden...it happens as you get older. But I'm 99.999% sure I'm correct.)

Could you imagine David Lee Roth and Sammy Hager sharing a stage with Van Halen? Or have they and I don't know about it? (sigh, forgetful and ignorant...)

  • @paxpaul I can't imagine that, but the two of them toured together without Van Halen. A lot of tension existed over who was the lead dog.

  • I saw him live at one of the 98.9 KWJZ Smooth Jazz Festivals here in Seattle. Unfortunately, a very crappy Sandusky radio stations changed the format to The Click 98.9 in december, 2010! Creeps!

  • The Dobbie Brothers made some of the best rock'n'roll ever made. I don't believe many can compare with their music including heavy metal or a lot of the other music that has been released since. As far as fast dancing music, you just cannot beat them either. MGM.

  • If there is a better call to action RocknRoll, balls to the wall, git on out and do it song, I'd like to hear it. If not, this will do just fine.

  • Love the Doobies with MM -Minute by Minute

  • Prefer the Doobies without MM

  • Michael McDonald has a real cut it up singing voice. a baritone if I'm correct

  • They dont make them like that anymore...

  • I looove this song!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Some good ole, "blue eyed soul"

  • @PTRS9K ain't no such thang....Soul is Soul!!!!

  • What a great voice.. !!! Man,,, if we just had this sound now,,,

  • One of the best songs ever. They truly don't make them like this anymore. This was the best type/genre of music I've ever heard and it always will be, especially compare to the music they come out with today.

    ROCK FOREVER!!!!!!

  • @AnimeFan275 could,nt agree more mate...love it..

  • @AnimeFan275

This really isn't Rock. This is more like blue eyed soul. Its an attempt by a Rock band to do a Soul / Gospel style song. Michael McDonald would go on to do many other songs in this genre. He even did a duet with Patti Labelle.

  • @AnimeFan275 Agreed. today like this rap crap or this pop bull sucks, today it's about the money and spotlight, back in the days it was about the talent and it meant something. I wonder why I'm still stuck in the past 50's through the 80's is the best era for anything. anyways keep on rocking it.

  • @AnimeFan275 Rock AND gospel! Listen to those chops from Mike on the keys - pure church, pure Ray Charles blues. Mike wrote this as a direct answer to Marvin Gaye's question to the world - What's Goin On? He was trying to keep the energy going. Pat Simmon's said the first time he heard it he had to sit down - he was stunned and blown away - knew it would be monster. It touches everyone deeply in the soul - the music and words - you cannot help yourself. Fantastic live - thanks for posting.

  • One has just to say:"Michael Mc Donald and the Doobie Brothers" are having fun

  • One just to say, "Michael Mc Donald and the Doobie Brothers" are having fun.

  • wow! thenk you for this. So full of energy. Amazing

  • They don't write them like that anymore

  • only the doobie can pull it off, all others are terrible

  • STRONG PERFORMANCE! Right On!

  • Take it the streets is classic doobie and McDonald. You have to love it.

  • Great live performance

  • He can take it to me.....

  • So smooth! Yacht rock lives!

  • I can't really find any Doobie Brothers videos that has Old Juarez. I can play my drums to it and can't really find the track.

  • "You can go and tell my brother, you will find him everywhere"!

  • That is music, children.

  • Simply classic!!!! True musical talent.

  • Good Lord. Can you imagine how badly they blow almost any band off the stage. Hey GAGA, yup, you are following them alright.?

She would be wearing a shit suit.

  • I grew up on punk and metal, but I bow to mighty Doobies. This is a great live version.

  • Michael mcdonald is a black guy in white face. He's not fooling me with that soulful voice.

  • Here's the Michael McDonald influence from 1996.

  • You don't know me, but I'm your brother...

  • Awesome. Great live version; the best I have heard and I used to see the Doobs back in the Bay Area in the 70"s. Love how Mac simply saunters onto the stage and starts hitting the keyboard. It's 6:30 in the AM and I've got this cranked up dancing. My morning coffee! Thank you for posting this video.

  • Seen Michael McDonald in concert at the Verizon Music center in St.Louis

Summer of 2007. It was with Steely Dan, McDonald was fantastic.

    Thanks for the video.

  • イイも悪いもこの方が、DOOBIEを変えた! TAKIN'IT TO THE STREET byM・McDONALD

  • That boy can SING!!!

  • ALL YEAH, I'M IN THE BAND!!!!

  • where can i get the studio version to this?????? :)

  • REAL MUSIC!!!!!!!!! - - Very profound Words too in these times ;-)

  • AWESOME!! NOW THIS IS MUSIC!!

  • I realy likes this video thanks so much.

  • @fja2221 aw, you're welcome!

  • Comment removed

  • I realy likes this video thanks so much

  • What a performance

  • Does anybody know where the original studio version is on You Tube? This was a big hit of their's in 1976.

  • Takes me back to 1979! wow....

  • This takes me back to 1979! wow...great vocals!

  • If you love the Doobie Brothers. .. . . . . we have one of them

  • oooohwee do I love me some Michael McDonald lol.... blue-eyed soul for sure!!! Great music from a one of kind artist.

  • This album spelled the end of the Doobies for me. They sold their soul with this. They were the best `W Coast` rock band by a country mile, then they tried to get clever. Just didnt work for me.

  • This is one of my favorite upbeat songs of "pure" joy that Michael McDonald and the Doobie Brothers do so well together.

  • When you have a lead singer like mconald, you know you will lose him.

  • I don't know if anybody else remembers this but the Doobie Brothers were on an episode of What's Happenin'. The plot involved bootleggers and ReRun hiding a taperecorder in his jacket. Crazy how you can remember stuff from the 70s!

  • @Kingrob30 Rerun jumps up and down clapping during the show in the high school auditorium and the tape recorder falls out of his jacket! I believe then the Doobies give him a lesson on the wrongs of bootlegging. Sitcoms were so awesome and tame back then!

  • @chalklounge awww man! You took me back with this comment! Rerun sure did get busted trying to record the concert. :)

  • THAT WAS ONE HELLA BAD PERFROMANCE MIKE WAS PLAYING HIS BUT OFF ALL OF THEM WERE U CAN TELL THEY RE INTO IT!!!!!!!

  • Awesome Up... Delighted I got to see the Doobies Live in Concert in My day and Mike Mc D soloo on a number of Occasions... Now if I could even find just one to smoke it's make this up even better!

  • If this song does not get your foot tapping, nothing well. Michael McDonald has the soul of an African American and the passion of a talented artistist who gives it all in his performances.

Dr. William Patrick MacLean, Nampa, Idaho

  • Thanks for sharing very good music

  • 31 couldnt take it to the streets

  • What is this awesomeness that I am witnessing?

  • Michael McDonald is such a talented musician and what a voice. He has the soul of an African-American the passion to go along with the music He plays. He is humble and quickly gives credit to others.

  • Takin' it to the streets! Workers rise up! No worker vs. worker mentality! We will not cannibalize each other while the criminals earning $43K an hr. stand by laughing and dismantling our rights. I stand with the workers of Wisconsin! And we're takin' it to the streets across the country! UNION! Wherever you live, go to your Capitol Bldg. this Sat. @ Noon to join the revolution in progress! PEACE

  • i can play this on the piano

  • You know, this guy can really "deliver" in the true sense of the word. I know he was a member of the Doobies for some years, but to just "set in", and do such a bang up job on everything, puts him up many knotches in my eyes. I'm talking from a professional musicians standpoint. When you just walk into a band you haven't been with for a while and have to make it all happen, it takes some doin' and this just solidifies, (in my mind) how truly good and professional this man is. Marc Trainor.

  • whats happening - TV show. Dee was cool.

  • ReRun and his tape recorder.
