  • And John Williams' version is supposed to be better than Paco de Lucia's why, exactly? Paco's is so much more dynamic and emotional, in my opinion... Paco's technique is also much better in this context, although that's understandable considering his flamenco approach.

  • Only one dislike to date :-) I love this music.

  • Brilliant nothing more to say.

  • Great performance! Does anyone know where and when was the concert played?

  • made in spain

  • perfectomundo without being mechanical like Russell whatshisname

  • Magnifico!

  • So sad and beautiful.

  • Please, everybody may do three excersises.

    1. Listen Jhon Williams in Aranjuez and in any play of Batch. After that try to find if both compositions has differnts styles in williams guitars.

    2. Listen Williams and Alirio Diaz in Aranjuez and feel the difference.

    3. Listen Williams and Alirio Diaz in Natalia of Antoni Lauro and feel again the differences.

After that, someone may undersant what I said about Williams.

  • I think Williams is great, plenty of an exquisite technique and feeling. However I prefer Narciso Yepes in a 12 string...

  • if you know of a better interpretation post it cos i dont

  • In my opinion williams plays with a lot of feeling. I heared other "perfect" guitar players with less feeling but when I compare them, I think john has a lot of feeling..

  • hmm... i think it's nonsense saying that john is a robot playing guitar... the feeling of music is not about gestural expression; it comes naturally from the music itself...

  • SO, SO, AMAZING at 5:55! EPIC! It always makes me choke and brings tears to the eye! Love it!

  • he bends a note at 2:50!

  • You must listen 3 versions: the Narsiso Yepes, Paco de Lucia and this one from JWilliams. It is very interesting to compare the perfection, the feelings, the sound, and the idea from the composer. Rodrigo wrote this 2nd part after the die of the newborn child. This is a very sad and comptemplative piece. Williams is too technical, de Lucia is too emotive. Yepes is more near the objective of Rodrigo. This is my opinion. I like too the guitar with 10 strings.

  • @manny1917 Anyways I find this performance to be stale, bland, and boring. Even though the original composer Joaquín Rodrigo wrote Concierto de Aranjuez on guitar for guitar. Comparing John Williams boring rendition with Miles Davis’ more colorful rendition on trumpet & flugelhorn, Miles version is three times as good and listenable as this.

Lastly, John W. (guitarist) work doesn’t even come close to holding a light to John W. (composer) music. How much original music does this guy do anyway?

  • @manny1917 Well I wasn’t going to say anything else but since you said something... John Williams and John Williams is the exact same name. Michael Jordan and Michael Jackson is totally different.

  • anybody knows where and when this recording was made?

  • @HosiChef Royal Albert Hall, London.

  • @nicfuecol thanks =)

  • 3:00........... O.O

  • shame about the beginning

  • This is too much!!! It´s just too beautiful!!! I almost start to feel really sad

  • I find it odd that "The Animals-House of the Rising Sun" is in this category,,,strange?

This piece of music requires awesome talent no matter who is performing.

I'm just happy its all posted, thanks to all who upload these great works.

  • Stupid question but is this the same John Williams that composed for Indiana Jones and Star Wars?

  • @greenfreeblue nope ;)

  • @greenfreeblue No it isn’t. The first time I heard of this John Williams I thought the same thing. Different guy of lesser fame. It would be a lot better if he would start using his middle initial to differentiate himself from the composer. Who knows, this guy is probably using that name to bring in more of an audience for himself. More power to him but a little deceptive if you ask me.

  • if you want feeling you should listen juliam bream, but if you want something almost perfect you should listen john williams. andres segovia said that he had never listened someone playing that perfect like williams and remenber that segovia was teacher of wiiliams, juliam bream, pepe romero and park

  • @jhuex Segovia never taught Bream or Williams. He took Williams in his Summer School and he met Bream a handful of times. Williams later distanced himself from Segovia's style and mildly criticizes him to this day.

  • @luismasironi It shows you do not know music and playing quality.

  • @tbjzmusic just an opinion...

  • It shows you do not know music and playing quality.

  • @luismasironi you can't say that he has no feeling just because he's not doing some stupid facial expression. in fact, he wouldn't be this good without the feeling. hear my advice, think, speak afterwards.

  • @luismasironi you can't say that just because John Williams does not do that "feeling faces", just listen to him playing the guitar... there is some serious feeling here. xD (sorry about my english)

  • @luismasironi oh my god u guys must be gods of music!i can even write to tell u how wrong u are...if u can't understand it no one can explain something that everyone else do understand...go listen lady gaga for autotune passion!

  • i think paco's version is the best...The piece sounds more 'spanish' in a way.As for the composer he was spanish..

  • @Ajowerty I thinks Williams is being deliberately non-Spanish here and it works in it's own way.

  • Great performance. Good to see Williams cheating a bit too. Makes me feel less guilty!

  • That's pretty stupid to compare Williams to DeLucia. Completely different styles, different musical education and roots. Have you heard that Paco de Lucia didn't know music notation and leaned it first just before Concierto performance?

Definitely John Williams is top classical guitarist and Paco should not be even compared to him. Paco is great in his own flamenco style. Playing classics or jazz is pain for him, he even say it himself.

  • Thankyou for posting this !

For me,this is always JW or Sogovia.

  • Who is the best, John Williams or Paco de Lucia?

  • @calin073 Sogovia is my favourite, Williams is a brilliant technician, Paco is and I can't think if the correct word, perhaps instinctive ?

  • @theMacvarish It's a peasure!
