  • What river is that?

  • Good song choice

  • @TheBeansie song suks

  • Thats small it looks like you were putting up a fight for your life hahaha i just reeled in a 10 ft sturgeon last week at astoria oregon and it took 25 mins to pull in

FYI you should use a better fishing reel them reels ur using arent as good to pull big fish in

  • @2011mudslinger When I was 10 years old I was watching a guy pull in 15-20 pound Blue cats out of the Ohio river on a lightweight spinning outfit. It took him forever to bring them in so I ask him what pound test he used. He replied 4 pounds. I told him I had some tweenty pound mono in my box and he say no thank. I was confused untill my dad told me he wasn't catching them to catch them, he was testing his skills. With gear that wasn't cheap, but what most wouldn't use to catch Blue cats.

  • i caught one about that size when i was like 7 and it took for ever

  • eel

  • Is that the SSR? Sure looks like it! beautiful fish man. Keep the pics comin on the SA forum btw =) your last Walleye was massive.

  • thats not really that big

  • man last years i cought an 1,798 pnd so fuck your fish

  • Grass shrimp!!

  • what the best bait against sturgeons?!

  • Sturgeon fishing is FUN....I just posted a video of my latest Sturgeon Trips...I caught 15 in 3 days......5 were over 200lbs...type in Sturgeon Fishing Quest(Biggfishnut)

  • i use a pile of worms and sturgeon suck on them realy hard ... a happy sturgeon is a free one :) good fishing guys

  • I live very close to a medium sized lake. In this lake there have been several sturgeons pulled up, but one hasnt been caught in nearly 13 years nor has one washed up or anything. They are kinda a legend/folk tale here. But i would like to catch one of them to prove that they still do exist in the lake since no one else cares to do so. What ind of set up are you using, bait, hook anything that could help. Thanks and I hope your lines stay tight.

  • @Mattythepirate Does your lake have a stream or river running through it

  • great job here but is it necessary to wear "jorts"?

  • yes

  • i use salmon rods for sturgeon, don't have many sturgeons around here but they are fun

  • I was Sturgeon fishing on the frasor about 2 months ago we caught a 6 foot with tree 5 foots later and a 4 foot and tow 2 footers it was awsome

  • crayfish is one of the best bait for sturgeon they also eats worms, aquatic insects, leeches, snails, minnows, small fish, and clams

  • in california i went on a charter we caught five i put there spots on my gps me and my friends went next day and caught 6 with ghost shrimp

  • are sturgeon hard fighters for there size?

  • hell yeah i caught a good one cldnt feel my arms after an ima d1 linebacker

  • YOU are the fag

  • Dude your feet stinks !

  • Nice man ! real nice !

    congrats !

I'll get one like that one day . Can't wait til it's my turn.

    Wow!! real nice!

  • we have gotten our first one this year in wisconsin it was 60+ inches we have a 1 month season where we can keep them and this year we got a permit so i am excited

  • fuking love sturgeon, sneakly fuckers though, no1 catches them unless they know what the bite looks like

  • what kind of rod did u use?

  • wut did yall use for bait?

  • take a boat haölf an houur lol

    canada

  • very good, it's a meaty "steak-like" meat with kindof a firm texture. Keeper range here in washington is 42"-66". I have caught 3 legal ones this year and 5 smaller. Really easy. I only use Herring! scent is OK but simple is best.

  • The big fish in this video is roughly the size of my fish story!

    /watch?v=1EJelotT0bo&feature=related

  • We've always had to release our sturgeon in British columbia. Just wondering, how are they to eat??

  • really good meat...not fishy at all...tastes they way you prepare it...

  • oh yeah! I lost the fish trying to pull it close enough for a picture. I was by myself and needed evidence, now all I can do is dream of another that big. I caught it at the end of the day, by the boat launch. I was giving up on salmon that day, Just for shits and giggles I dropped my herring in 10-12ft of water, in less than a minute my reel was singin.

So, if your by yourself dont fight for a snapshot. Bring a video camera.

  • Nice fish! Somewhere up/down the Columbia is my last years 10-11 footer. I only saw it once, played more than 2 hours with it. 3-4 miles of river and Nothing. She was a beast. Couldnt do a damn thing to win the fight since I had a salmon rig on 20# test. I saw the head and mouth, it could easily swallow a basketball.

Best fish to catch in freshwater.

  • also its 42-60 in in oregon and wa and you get 5 fish a year

  • Im just back from the Fraser River (Im from the UK). We had a 6 footer a 7 footer and an 8footer all on the same day from the same hole. Took us an hour to land the 8 footer and over a mile of river from hook up to landing it.

    AWSOME!!

  • kool hey is tht in canada?

  • aboat half en houur

    yeh it canada allright

  • the only place illegal to keep sturgeon on the west coast is probably around fraser river area...due to the lack of sturgeon there...here in california and oregon you can keep sturgeon...for oregon limit its 3 per person for per yr and 1 per day, slot size is 46-60"

for california its 3 per person for per year and 1 per day with the slot limit size of 46-66"

    =P

  • not bad...i fished from fraser before i didn't get owned...all you need is heavy tackle and your good to go...minimum an hr of pulling for fraser river due to all the over size mammas...

my gear for fraser river is a ugly stick custom saltwater with 100lbs test powerpro on a 90lbs coated wireline and your set to go...just let the fish run and you'll be fine, don't try to muscle with the fish or else you end up getting muscled =P

  • I live in British Columbia and the Fraser River is about 10 minutes from my home. My personal biggest was a 6 footer, it weighed nearly 200 pounds (FAT FISH). I have picture evidence too!

As for the set up... use a 8 to 16 ounce weight on a slider, about a 5 foot leader and use any thing from Schmelt/Eulochon (SP), to ROE right down to worms. I caught my 6 footer on a dew worm! But I suggest half of a eulochon. Biggest I've seen in person is 9 feet... they get bigger though.

    Cheers

  • yeah so do i but mine was 8 fett ha

  • what body of water was he on, and what bait was he using?

  • Yall Release?

  • Sturgeon 101? with spinning gear? lol that wouldnt last 5 min out here on the columbia with our fish

  • agreed. try fishing for sturgeon on the fraser river and you will get ownedddddddddddddddddd

  • u soppose to let it run for sort of long time to let it get tired and when it dose it gos on its back and gives up and then u can bring it in faster

  • ya but its WAY more fun to just fight it in. and ya. i think its funny when they roll over and just give up.

  • wat do u use to catch these beast?

  • Use many things, nightcrawlers, shrimp, minnows.

  • REALLY BIG SANDSHRIMP!!!

  • dude congrats on your record and that huge fish. In Ohio, sturgeon are endangerd so I cant catch em. but I wish I could.

  • your allowed to catch them, but you cant keep em, its catch and release

  • you can keep like 48-60 inch fish. not STRICTLY catch and release

  • do they have good sized sturgeon in mo???

    if so, where???

  • i dunno but you should REALLY try the pugit sound or the columbia river

  • Have a trip booked this november for the fraser river, for white sturgeon. Our lake sturgeon get up to 6 feet long in our rivers.

  • Hey dude, sorry about the late reply, We use 3-4 night crawlers piled on a j hook.

  • @fishinggeeks i do a lot of fishing and i have never heard of a j-hook. how are those different from a regular octopus hook?

  • what type of bate are you guys using??
