There is actually. Some statics problems involve differentiation and integration. Trig is also applied in statics.

By the way, my grand father was an electrical engineer for c&g railroad (trains).,, he designed electrical motors with a slide rule, ,a slide rule which i still have and proudly display above my fireplace. And have learned to use proficiently.
