Hey Mr. "ToneDeff", THANKS A TON for the response! I've never heard of either Omaritian or Meurer . . . I never remember my great aunt mentioning either of them, but then again I was really young. I do remember her saying Bacharach was involved the day of the taping (CBS remote studio in NYC). . . but that was a long time ago.
Anything else you remember would be MUCH appreciated!!!
My aunt was Alice Pine, who did a ton of music on Broadway, then flm. She did the film rehearsals (she loved Dudley Moore, and actually did several duets with him on the set). God I miss her, and remember her being such a huge part of that movie back in 1980 (when I was a junior in high school). I HOPE SOMEBODY remembers Aunt Alice!
Can anyone tell me who the piano cover was for this recording? My great aunt performed the cover for the film rehearsals, but I'd really lke to APPLAUD the piano cover artist . . . really beautiful piano playing.
If anyone can provide the original cover artist (the recording), it would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks everyone!!!!
@ssj5657 it was either producer micheal omartian or rob meurer who were on chris,s first two albums as you say gorgeous playing. omartian i would say is the pianist he is a great player he plays lovely piano on aja by steely dan and has perfect pitch!!
LOVE this song! LOVE the movie! I must be the oddball, I live in New York and I don't want to fall in love!! Anyways, I agree with ponymaruni, too bad music doen'st exist like this anymore. the 80's were great! Well, I'm (old enough to know) so were the 70's. :)
Christopher Cross Arthur's Theme released on 14 December 1981 making at No 6 on 22 February 1982 also were re-released on 29 July 1985 at this time making No 2 on 14 October 1985 and on 28 October 1985 on my 18th Birthday born in 1967.
Christopher Cross Arthur's Theme released on 14 December 1981 making at No 6 on 22 February 1982 also were re-released on 29 July 1985 at this time making No 3 on 7 October 1985.
Haven't even seen the new version of Arthur, which by most accounts is a horrible film, but its one saving grace has to be that they never had Justin or Miley remake this song. That would've rubbed salt in the wound.
I am actually living in Charlotte, NC now my family lives right there in Jupiter, FL. Finally headed down for Thanksgiving! Looking forward to getting down there for a few days. Love these songs!
My famous soon to be husband, always been my soul mate, well, this is our geek song foreverah... So thank you, 80's, think you are not; Cause you ARE !!!! thank you for posting this... We dance to it nightly.... So you are doing something right! Again.... thanks.... Cause I am pretty sure this metal boy fell in love with me cause of this song....
I grew up w/ Brittany Spears, Backstreet Boys, etc. But my parents listened to the 70's, 80's music all the time. I'm so glad they did though. I loved listening to this kind of music.
there is something about an 80's saxophone solo, you don't hear the sax any more. I think of this song, the sax solo from "same ole lang syne" as two of the better ones.

Also, three people didn't fall in love in New York.....
A masterpiece that I remember as a kid back in the mid-80's. Those were the days to be around. This song is more tailored to mature adults then if it all that it was for kids. That's the one thing about Christopher Cross and his music - it's just simply pure! No wonder all the awards this song won!

@80sMuzic LoL. My thoughts were similar. But I was telling myself why he even saying that? Gibby wasn't even born when this came out. I'm sage age as you and remember Arthur playing in cable in the early 80s.. and this song of course.
What a great song! It's such a shame that "musicians" don't make music like this anymore, but what can you expect when our present culture favors image and appearance over true talent and a proper ear for music? This song has excellent vocals, excellent saxophone work (3:15), and excellent rhythm. For those of you who are too young to know, this was the title track to a movie entitled "Arthur". If you haven't seen it, you must. That fool Russell Brand doesn't do the original justice.

I actually like the remake, though I haven't seen the orginal so I have nothing to compare it to,the orginal came out when I was a baby, but this version of the song is the best.
I cant believe Russel Brand s the new arthur the originalwas a classi why did they have to remake it dont get me wrong im glad people discovered this movie by russel brand but nooooo never mind
I saw the remake last night. Not terrible by any means, but no where near as good as the original. They played the song at the end, but a cover -_-. I love this tune
Beautiful song!

Though this song came out in the '80s, it totally has a '70s aesthetic.

I actually like the remake, though I haven't seen the orginal so I have nothing to compare it to,the orginal came out when I was a baby, but this version of the song is the best.

I know how people feel about the new version of Arthur but the original one will always be the best.

I saw the remake last night. Not terrible by any means, but no where near as good as the original. They played the song at the end, but a cover -_-. I love this tune
