"The general principles on which the fathers achieved independence were. . . . the general principles of Christianity.”—John Adams to Thomas Jefferson on June 28, 1813--John Adams, The Works of John Adams, Second President of the United States, Charles Francis Adams, editor (Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1856), Vol. X, pp. 45-46
the real john adams wouldnt give a flying shit about how he is portrayed , he would however wheep like a small child if he saw what we as a Nation have become. He would puke seeing Dear Leader and his marxist ways .
Agreed, one thing I see in Adam's quotes(not just his portrayals in different series) is that he was for effort and talent and other things of a more objectivist nature. It just really comes across that way in all his actions that we know historically.
@pluto4847 Research it more, he was never "popular". He was always stubborn and disliked, as in the movie, and did always do everything to get it his way, which was right, and never was swayed from his righteous opinion. He also refused to ally ourselves to tyrannical nations such as France.
I agree with all the other posters. This miniseries was perfectly done, and arguably one of the best cast films in all theatre.
With respect to this scene, I get the chills everytime I watch this. I truly believe the real John Adams would be proud of this depiction of his life.
I was an extra in that scene (one of the congressmen standing in the background). It took all day to shoot (in Mechanicsville, Virginia). It was fascinating to watch Paul Giamati work!
What did washington say at the end?

John Adams was a Jimmy Carter. He only served 1 term. He must have not been very popular after his first 4 years in office.

George Washington...what else needs to be said?
I'm so glad our country was founded by such well-meaning, noble (yet deeply flawed) men.
