who made this crappy doc.? And I thought that the BBC was a bit more than, let's say, National Geographic. To sum up a few mistakes:
**The Olmecs did use wheels (we only don't know HOW they used them)
**The Olmecs weren't THE FIRST (not even in Mexico, where "complexity" began at the southwest coast. The oldest American "civilizations" are to be found in Peru, 2000 years before the Olmecs)
**they did not use "only stone tools" (lot's of minerals like jadeite and iron ores)

it wasnt about anatomically correctness for the egyptians. it was formulaic and spiritual. That is why the old kingdoms art all looked the same and with very distinct human representations. The egyptians knew alot about anatomy... hence forth Mumification.

Egyptian works of art were archetypal for the monarchy, they were meant to be shining examples of what people were supposed to look like. At some point, look up the carving of Ka Aper. The Egyptians mastered realism.

@ActiveStorage they're not supposed to be anatomically accurate, Egyptian art was about preserving a persons likeness, their facial appearance, so that they could live forever so long as that artwork existed. It was a way of keeping them alive after their body had died, not faithfully representing the human form.
