  • What I love is when abstract absurdity's meaning is entirely lost when the vaguest of racist implications are made. "Never mind the songs about the changing of the name in the 1920s, or the fact its supposed to be just odd and goofy its racist and ignorant FUCK AMERICA"

  • Fezzes are cool.

  • @boscotheterrible1 DR WHO FTW

  • CAMEL AND TURKEY AMERICANS ARE REALLY STUPID :)))

  • Americans are very ignorant and stupid you do not know anything about Turkey

  • It was nice of them to allow Herman Cain to participate (if I recall, the lyrics to this song was Hermain Cain's foreign policy, verbatim).

  • Ben Türk'üm ve bu videodakiler çok saçma, Türkiye'de deve veya çöl yoktur.Siz bizi hala Arap sanıyorsunuz,Biz Arap değiliz,Biz Türk'üz...

  • @ThePOLAT1903 Your a what?

  • I LOVE THE LATE LATE SHOW!!

  • Great!

  • 52 people tried to go to Constantinople.

  • the funniest guy/show on late night tv . . .

  • I like the guy with the concertina and Craig Ferguson witha suit and a shmata around his head. Hilarious theater of the absurd.

  • What a great karaoke song!!

  • imagine turkey as italy or greece, but better :) it's not the desert.

  • @SanguineBullet667 hahahahaahahahaha that was a good one... hahahaahha

  • @Alighieriism have fun in your economic wasteland you call Greece BAHAHAHA. i know I would also hate to live in a country that has such a horrible economy as Greece LOL

  • Whatever >.<!

  • The fez was introduced as a part of the military uniform in 1826. Ataturk vieved it as a symbol of the old Ottoman Empire, and thus banned it outright in 1925.

  • Istanbul song

  • Craig looks like a sexy pirate!!!

  • ...This was originally by The Four Lads. Not They Might Be Giants.

  • You have no idea about us and our history. But now you're talking about it. Go and read something. Ottomans ruled the whole world. How about you?

  • @decodespn

Hey, it's called a novelty song from the 50s. Get off your high horse. If you'd like, we can go back to nobody giving a shit about Turkey.

  • @tarantulatook I'm talking about the comments. ;)

  • @decodespn its easy to learn of your history, we just googled it fuckface! Im not impressed.

  • God damn.....this made my day!

  • I love the shark with the turban XD

  • Anthropomorphism is always funny, especially with puppets.

  • @ottomanlifestyle Seriously, dude. It's a fun, pointless song. Take a pill.

  • I like the way they choreographed it turning from side to side and swinging their arms with the lip synching.

  • hahaha love this

  • Great song...Ferguson is the best on Late Night TV...just damn funny. Love this vid.

  • Needs more gimps and belly dancers, but is otherwise fine.

  • @SmartBlonde250 hey Nina! lol

  • @sk8ergothgrl98 Hola!

  • why doesn't he still do lipsyncs????

  • 2,413 people liked it better that way

  • Does Craig still do skits like this a lot or dancing? I can't watch him as often as I'd like, but my dad said he wished craig would do more of it.

  • @shootzthemoon21 oh, okay thx :)

  • Does Craig really play the violin?

  • @chewinggumgumjouman I don't think so; his form is a little off. (My sister played violin for several years.)

  • I could see craig going on broadway one day :)

  • There isn't never camel and desert in Turkey. We don't wear fez. Turks are not Arab.

  • Even old New York was once New Amsterdam. With Craig and crew lip synching and dancing to this tune, what was old is new again. Craig makes me happy.

  • im from turkey and i've never seen a camel or desert.

We dont wear fes. i like this music but who r they?( circus?...)

  • @gavatcan13

seems like the circus, doesn't it? the song is by a group called They Must Be Giants, who sing funny-serious pop music. the folks you see here are comedians, headed by the guy in the middle with the fez and the fake mustache, Craig Ferguson, who has a late night t.v. show that comes on after David Letterman. and then there are the puppets. we can't explain the puppets.

  • @greasemonkey1228 This particular recording is They Might Be Giants, but the song was originally recorded in the 1950's. My 78 year old mother knows it by heart.

  • @gavatcan13 Ever heard of the Ottoman Empire?

  • @gavatcan13 Because, my young lad, when the Turks conquered Constantinople, people did wear fezzes. As for the camels and deserts, I have no freaking idea.

  • @gavatcan13 because ottoman empire conquared cairo and mesopotamia in its time and we had troops that ride on the camels instead of horses around cairo and mesopotamia and they were also alligable in anatolia people traded them im sure there were camels in istanbul either

  • @gavatcan13 i think thats just the stereotype

  • @gavatcan13 americans

    (trolololololol) :D

  • @gavatcan13 but i also bet youve never really seen a shark or a crocodile in turkey either

  • @TwoToneTuna u r wrong, we've sharks ...

  • @gavatcan13 So i guess you are seeing a lot of tyrannosaurus lately you stupid Turk....

  • @Alighieriism none of your business, racist bastard.

  • @gavatcan13 this was made as a joke dude.

  • man im from turkey and no one wears those shitty dresses. they look like they live in morocco or egypt? not the gay one ofcourse, muslims could kill him. sorry for bad grammar. peace

  • TMBG rocks.

  • I don't know the name, but your... fez... is familiar.

  • 47 ottomans didnt like this

  • In June 1665, New Amsterdam was reincorporated under English law as New York City, named after the Duke of York (later King James II). He was brother of the English King Charles II, who had been granted the lands.

  • I miss the musical openings.

  • fezzes are STILL cool

  • @JarHarJar Doctor Who reference?

  • @warpig34 no chris reference

  • What is the name of Constantinople?

  • @EmperorNaman

Learn the history omg. Constantinople is old name of ISTANBUL .. (Its center of Roman Empire , Bzyntium ) First cathedral build in Istanbul (500's) And its great cathedral. Now mosque . And now best crowded area in Europe.

  • Craig is the best!

  • Sooo.. are those two guys Secretariat now?? I haven't seen them since..

  • a simpler time lol

  • how can anyone not like this , comedy, song and dance , and a banging tune - its like oldschool showbiz

  • what's that S/M clothed guy with the fez :))

  • They might be giants HELL YEAH

  • This song is catchy

  • Assassins Creed: Revelations this fall.

  • But istanbul not in middle east i dont see any Camel : /

  • What's the puppet in the red hat supposed to be?

  • @MORKOS621 A T-Rex I think

  • @MORKOS621 thats a black guy

  • Okay, this just made my day. Just saw TMBG for the 7th time this weekend, and I'm seeing Craig in July. Yay!

  • Center of the Great Roman Empire !

  • @PsikoTTrex now its the ottoman empire not the roman empire thats nobodys business but the Turks

  • Okay, all you Turks out there, spill the beans!! Why did Constantinople get the works? The world wants to know already!!!

  • @ArizonaKnightWolf because the song must to get a rhyme

  • @ArizonaKnightWolf i was told never to reveal why

  • @ArizonaKnightWolf people just liked it better that way

  • That's nobody's business but the Turks!!!

  • @ArizonaKnightWolf quite simple :) Constantinople was the western (Roman) spelling. The formal Turkish spelling was Kostantiniyye . When the Turkish Republic was formed, they decided to opt for a variation of the Greek phrase "eis tin polin" meaning "in the city" (as it was commonly refered to as 'the city') Hence "İstanbul", or "the city". Ottoman Turkish included the "İ" as a formality when refering to a place, or title.

  • @ArizonaKnightWolf that's nobody's business but the turks!

  • @ArizonaKnightWolf "Constantinople" is seen as the rallying cry for radical Greeks who have never reconciled themselves to the Turkish conquest of the city over 550 years ago. "Constantinople" to many Greeks and Turks means the Megalli Idea or Great Idea: the resurrection of the Eastern Roman Empire and the expulsion and/or annihilation of all the Turks there.

  • @ArizonaKnightWolf Ironically though, "Istanbul" is a Turkish corruption of the Greek phrase "eis ten poli" meaning "to the city" which the conquering Turks observed on signposts by the sides of the roads leading to Constantinople/Istanbul.

  • Why they changed it they can't say. People just liked it better that way!!!

  • The New Nairobi Trio :)

  • I like those puppets. They're the best :3

  • 44 people had a date in Constantinople and didn't know to go to Istanbul.

  • Hey, a They Might Be Giants song! This is why I love Craig!

  • this has nothing to do with istanbul

  • what the hell the camel and that green guy have to do with Istanbul?? do some research next time..

  • @vxyiu no budget

  • LOL- he gets paid to do this stuff. I envy Craig Furgeson. A nerd dream job.

  • Assassin's Creed 3 in ISTANBUL !

  • hacı deveye zenciye takmışınız da craig abinin badem bıyığına bi lafınız olmaz herhalde :)

merak etmeyin, adam 98'de türkiye'ye geldi, gördü az çok buraları...

  • Craig should do more of those music things in his show....

  • 1. There is no camel in anywhere of Türkiye

    2. Turkish citizens are not negros and never have been.

    :)

  • @tolgaGCNS We know dude, we know is a missrepresentation, but it's still funny. No one's gonna think you guys ride in camels, don't worry

  • @tolgaGCNS

I'll bet there aren't any T rexes or sharks there either. Grow a sense of humor, OK ?

  • I'm no expert If you look at some of those old portraits of the Ottoman Sultans, most of them had those big onion hats on.

  • @archer1949 I'm Turkish, but I like the "big onion" impression. :)))

  • Its best ! But Turks not black lol. White racial and black guy's looks indians.

  • has anyone noticed that the guy in leather wore the same thing for the doctor who- song, but then in white? well, i guess i only saw it because i was looking at nothing else ; )

  • @IloveHobbits1995 I think the black one's what he usually wears for these bits.

  • You won't find anything else like this on television. Kudos to Craig!

  • I love me Craig ! Yes I do!

  • well some another american bullshit !!! turk people aint wear arabic clothes like black guy did :):):) even 200 years ago

  • @damnnuu it's fucking comedy not an history lesson

  • @Macaframa1 Well we watched this in history class today. . . XD

  • @emostrawberrie I hereby grant your history teacher the official title of Awesomely Awesome and the ownership of teh interwebs.

  • @valiare1947 Haha he shall be alerted! XD

  • @damnnuu Why aren't you complaining about the leather shorts? I'm sure the turks didn't wear those :-)

  • @snakem2000 the leather short is aint serious its for fun so the other stuff they wear is wrong maybe you even would say in turkey has camels and deserts as all you know about geography and history ;)

  • haha i hope people know he didnt make this song?? this is a old song, they dont make this stuff hahah

  • is craig actually playing because it does look like it

  • @Dragon12203 At first I was a little fooled and thought the same thing, but when there's vibrato on the string, it's pretty obvious he's faking it.

  • are u kidding , absulately not about istanbul

maybe istanbul before 200 years ago

  • @aonal well yeah it is about it before 200 years ago because the song is talking about how it was called constantinople before it was called istanbul so if you'd listen to the song or paid more attention in history class you would'nt have posted that comment

  • yea... Fezzes are indeed.... cool.

  • OMG! love this, love Ferguson!!

  • Hey come on guys we're Turks thats true and we like belly dancers but we don't like half-naked dancing and also we're not wearing fez u know?? And we're not Persian or Arabic or Indian just we're Turks ok? Just like an European, u didn't believe me? Come to Istanbul OK, and u know also we aren't ride the camels, i think thats a really terrible joke and really not funny!!!

  • @milenyumkedisi i don't think he meant any disrespect, he was trying to make people laugh. and you know what they say, "if you can't laugh at yourself, there are about 500 others who will do it for you" (i think thats how it goes..) ;)

  • @xinkblotsX I'm respectful for the everything all the humor content and also i like it, but i don't like disrespectful humorists for the another folks, yes, I hope he hasn't that the idea ofsuch a disrespectful :)

  • I love this guy!

  • You are one crazy dude - love it!

  • hahaa, just haha! Craig Ferguson is so funny an cute!!!

  • Why is it that people argue about the Turks and Greeks in every video featuring this song?

  • @Marlboro7

Why does it matter if there's a black guy? It's just a little sketch in a late night show, there's no need to be saying anything about race or that none of them know anything about turkey. In ancient Greek plays all the female characters were played by men... So what, it doesn't mean it was wrong or ignorant-- they just were using what they had available.

  • @lx3g01 theres been black slaves in the caliphate (istanbul having been the capital) - white European slaves too by the way.

  • @ToiToiToiHerrKaleun

yep, for example sultan mehmed khan's(conqueror of constantinople) right hand was an african.

  • @kespec Im curious did they let that black right hand keep his testicles? most of the black slaves serving the Muslims got their balls cut off.

  • @ToiToiToiHerrKaleun

oh man. blacks are usually chosen to serve as harem masters which are castrated to prevent any "unforseen consequences" :)

  • @kespec They were also chosen because if there was an unforeseen consequence, it would be obvious who contributed some of the genes

  • It's impressive how sharp Craig is and hits just about every beat when the others just stand there...like the 3 drumbeats (pow pow pow) at 2:23. Wasn't he a drummer? Maybe that's why he hears them and makes something of them.

  • Since 1453

Oh btw these guys have no clue where is the Turkiye nor what the Turks look alike. Its like portraying an african man as a japanese man.

  • lmfao at craig from 1:08 to 1:23.

  • Someone gotta explain why this is funny.

  • @ZeraToolSC No they don't. Just leave if you don't like it.

  • @sternim77 "leave" and go where? why the hell would you be offended for my comment?

  • @ZeraToolSC lol They weren't offended. I think he/she just meant to say it's funny, but if it's not funny to you, then that's fine too. Don't watch it.

I think as fans of craig's, we're just a bit more passionate than the rest.

  • @ZeraToolSC

'cause it's got puppets and somewhat slightly offensive stereotypes, what's wrong with you?

  • @ZeraToolSC stereotypes? offensive stereotypes? zero intellect and originality.

  • I 'm living in Istanbul right now and this video was soooo funny!!! =D

I love Craig!! He's soooo funny...

  • 36 people are in Constantinople.

  • @Rimor04 you said ''36 people are in Constantinople''

    do you mean İstanbul!

  • Craig is the closest thing to Johnny Carson on late night television. I hope that CBS gives him Lettermans show. I just worry that they will pull and NBC on him.

  • 34 people would prefer New York to be New Amsterdam

  • anyone know if there's a way to get this ringtone?!

  • I miss bondage boy. bridger seems to have taken his place. :(

  • Fezzes are cool.
