Hey buddy, theres a big difference between a craftsman and John Deere. I could write a book on how Deere outstands it. Number one, resale value. Who wants to buy a used craftsman? Who will gladly buy a used Deere? Me. Piece of mind behind quality equiptment.
@PJDiesel76 no the 318 is not the same it is smaller, the 322 Is the gas version of 332, the 322 has a diesel engine that is converted to run on gas. And know the 318 is smaller we used to have a 318 with a single stage snowblower, and now have a 322 with a 47 in two stage, and trust me the 322 sounds WAY bigger , and has a bigger engine than the 318
He's right 2.. we got a 84 318 that's had a few problems but runs like atop and runs and mows better than most of the peoples i know.... mine needs paint though
@MegaSierra123 You'd be insanely lucky to find this or any other older tractor for 500$ in this condition, 3 grand, a little steep, but i can easily see this going for 1.75-2.25 grand easy.
@DailyDiceCc no ya cant. im getting a 2 year old craftsman mint conditiion. selling for $200 used. that things like 10 years old and has 700 hours on it
I have an even older 285, where the tractor bit still works well. However it needed a new mower deck as the original had rusted through. In the UK at least, this was not available. An equivalent new JD with Diesel engine was over £10,000. I bought an Iseki, which had the advantage of a 3 cylinder rather than 2 cylinder engine and full hydraulic emptying on the grass collector. Price - just over £6,000. Not a hard decision. Just as well made as my old JD.
Good video. You um,..... have a lot of time on your hands! I have one of these, have also owned all the other 300 series units. Great tractors, HUGE following.
NICE! I watched this video earlier this year right after I bought a JD GT235 and then looked into the older JD models because of this video. That research got me interested in restoring an old JD. I bought a 1968 110 that I have started a complete restoration on. I also recently bought a 1987 JD 318 for working the ground and pushing snow! I love the 318!! Now the GT235 is for sale (LOL). It's a nice machine but I like the 318 better. Thanks for the video!

The John Deere 300 series tractors are the best. Actually the 318 (same as 332, but non-diesel) was the most produced tractor in the world. I will own nothing other than an older 300 series John Deere tractor.
nope. Old ones are easier to use but not as safe, not as fast, not as reliable. New ones have more safety features, you don't have to stop and fix all the time and they cost starting at $1500 to about $4000. Much better then spending money on a beat-up one for $3000 which you will have trouble with.
What john deere needs to do is bring back the old 300 series and 400 series, but it sucks because they don't even make these engines anymore, the onan is gone, kohler k series is gone, etc. Repower is ok i guess, but not as good as the engine thats supposed to be in there. People need to realize, the tractors today are not built to last. The newer X series sucks compared to this. The john deere of the 60s-early 90s was the best.
I bet he wouldn't have taken it out in the rain if there had been thunder and lightning. How come the wheels are changed around to inside out? If you need to put air in the tires, won't that be a little tough?

Great Video. I agree with you. I bought a used JD 318 with 50" mower, powerflow system, 4 way plow and chains. The thing was an absolute beast. Used it two years and sold it and got all my money back and bought a JD 455 diesel with bucket loader, 4 way plow, weight box, 54" mower and powerflow. I can't imagine ever needing more tractor than this for my yard. I could sell it tomorrow for about $1,000 more than I paid for it but I won't because it's a beast and way too much fun!
@tezskanza dont forget the old 110, 112, and 200 series machines as well. they are built equally as well although a little small, still serous equipment. i have a 112, i remove snow, roto till, and mow with it. it does everything despite being 40 years old
JOKE: A Redneck blonde pushes her lawn tractor into a gas station. She tells the mechanic it died. After he works on it for a few minutes, it is idling smoothly.
i like it a lot cuz it reminds me of my little gray mf cuz my garden tractor only has a 12hp briggs & stratton engine but that looks like a regular traktor youst smaller
The 332 is a real good tractor. The place I used to work at had one. Held up despite too many operators and the resulting abuse. I have an '02 GX 325 and I love it. I've also got a '74 Gravely L-8 2-wheeler.
@Lvfd416 older john deeres are the best! i like all john deeres made up until the late 90's. i have a 40's model l, a 1971 model 70 lawn tractor, a 1977 210 (my trusty old work horse) which had lived a hard life but is extreamly dependable, i also have a 1984 210 which is in great shape, and a 1975 300 hydrostatic. its the next step up from a 140. i got the 300 as a project tractor the 16hp kohler is in need of some rehab
I still have my john deere stx 38 from the early 80s! 12.5 horsepower It still works great I wouldnt want anything else! They dont make them like this anymore!
@TomescuCalin stx38?? i had one of those. it was weak. they are good for mowing and nothing else. cannot compare to a john deere garden tractor. stx 38's are lawn mowers, nothing else. dont try to remove snow with it either. the weak transmission will not take the abuse
You have got to be kidding,i've owned both and now own john deere and their is NO comparison, you name it quality, performance and ease of changing attachments and so on.
Beautiful machine, I took you advice in the vedio and bought a JD 318 withe the hydrolics etc... When I recieved it the snow blower was already attached so I have no idea how to install the mower. Would you do a vedio on that? Also I can't find a manual for it without paying and arm and a leg.
damn too much weight for me I could not haul it but nice ass tractor I have three lawnmowers 2 craftsman fixing one up trashing the other one (I think) and a toro wheel horse with a 15.5 briggs vangaurd motor this thing is a beast commercial motor 44" deck cast Iron vs that john deere I wonder who would win?? oh well nice John
your absolutely right these are great small tractors realy heavy duty for a small farm tractor i have a 210 series just like this same frame and front axle mine has a kohler k241 puts out about 27 peak horse power its super charged an has a 4speed transmission and optional 3point hitch and PTO and hydrolic pump and the front axle is rated i think for 2500 lbs i would feels safe not going above 1200
i know that, ive driven a 317 and a 318 countless times. i meant you dont need to put on the brakes when you start it. i would agree if it was geared, its a good idea to put the clutch on
I love New Holland (Ford) and John Deere machines. I have a 1994 Ford Diesel Garden Tractor, and that thing is a tank. It can move all my lawn trailers without me having to use my truck. I also have a 1998 John Deere GT262 Garden Tractor, and a 2005 John Deere Lt150. I prefer the 05 over the 98 just for the fact of an automatic drive, but i prefer the 94 ford over the 05 deere because it has automatic tran and it is ten times more powerful, I am totally on your side with the old vs new.
I have a 332 it's actually my second, It has 600 hrs on it and is a 1990. The one I had before had over 2800 hrs on it and ran like a champ the whole time I owned it. I also have a 316 w/onan motor again nice tractor but my 332 is a beast.
Oh yeah......... 2800 hrs is amazing. The common consensus is anything over 1000 hrs on an average garden tractor engine is a bonus. These little diesels are good for 2 to 3 times that. And the smoothest diesel around
Nice mower. Kind of funny, I saw this video about a month ago just messing around in youtube, and found the same series as yours for sale. I went and looked at it at a JD dealer and bought it. the motor has been re-man with about 50 hours on it. They are truly a mowing machine.
oh and i have nothing against john deere just their newer crap that don't last i do have a 210 and a 316 and they still run good my 316 is one of the rare ones that has a kohler in it it was made in 1978 the first year they came out and the only year they made the 316 with a kohler they discontinued them untill the early 80's but they put the onan in them when they brought them back i love the older ones just hate the newer ones they don't make em like they used to great vid 5 stars
Oh the irony. I had a Kubota G5200 as well. The superiority of the JD over the Kubota is one of the reasons I made this vid. The JD is so much more of a machine. The JD weighs about 300lbs. more and is just more solid in every aspect. Do a side by side comparo and the Kubota doesn't come close. This was my first Deere and I'm blown away with how heavy duty this thing is.
Nice Tractor - maybe the best ever. The 430 is bigger but necessarily better for many people. The 318 is solid too. Had many of these units but now upgraded to a New Holland TC25D. Miss the old Deere and if I could afford it I would get a 430.
hey i gotta say y'all really know what ur talkin bout i just bought me a JD LX 255 '01 for $900 and im so happy that i went with JD i had a used '98 Craftsman and it only ran a year for me thanks for keepin the JD tradition alive boys and keep on mowin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have a 05 craftsman lt2000 automatic and it has 400hrs on it runs like the day i bought it and i have a 03 john deere L120 and it is junk smokes so bad u can't see a dang thing in front of u when it is running and it only has 200 hrs on it deere makes so many models the bigger garden tractor models like this one are better built because they are made for alot of stuff and cost alot more but mowing ur yard craftman is better than the newer 100-200series john deeres them diesels last forever
Yeah, the 322 has a cult like following, that is the smoothest engine ever put in a garden tractor. And it's the toughest gas engine you'll find since it's basically the 3 cylinder Yanmar diesel converted to a gas.
Need a carrier and axles out of the rear end of one of those they are a little bit stronger then the ih cubs seeing as they are a Dana30 would like to put one in my pulling cub
hi, you commuacated w/ me last yr. i have the 330. um ive made some vids i would like to call to your attation. their under small diesel engine. you may like. check them out.
Nice tractor I have a 332 as well with a 50 inch deck, 42 inch rototiller,48 inch snowblower and a cab and it has 1450 hrs on it and still running strong.
@shadowandhannah Want to talk story's I just retired my 318 john deere it had 4000 hours as per the meter on it when i bought it (used by a lawn matence company) that was 18 years ago after i got it i have cut our 4 acre (verry hilly Lawn) as u would to keep it nice 2-3 times a week in the spring 1 time aweek mid summer 2 times a week in the fall now it takes 8 hours of cutting time per cut i sold it this spring for $1000 I figgure it had over 8000hrs on it the meter quit 8 years ago at 7000 hrs
the local cub dealer was yelling at a customer on the phone one day when i walked in-- new=cheap crap -the dealer is the customer service rep fielding calls from irate customers-bigwigs always want to make a tractor cheaper for more money in their pockets
hi tunk, i own a 330 diesel. the only difference is 2 pedal brake power steering dual wet lines. thats about all. same motor and deck drives. this machine is a salvage wonder. i bought it resonably cheap w/ a mildly seized engine. after it was unseized the timing was out both injection pump and cam. had that straighted out the crank was a little out of round 1 jernal made a fast fix to it and runs great. has been in service for 1 yr. look i have parts for john deere tractors willing to sell.
i know what you mean. the reason why the really old garden tractors are still around is because they used extremely high quality materials. i thought process used to be if you build a well built machine people would come back for new. now its all about making something cheap so what they have breaks and they are forced to replace it. my parents have a 1998 cub cadet. its the worlds biggest peice of ****. its actaully rusting out. if you spend the money on an old machine it will pay you back.
i have an even older deere. i have a 1971 john deere 112. i just swapped engines recently i bought a replacement k301 short block engine that only had 1 season on it for $150. a just broken in kohler engine for $150 was a steal. i have a newer 38" 2 blade deck, and a nice 37a blower. I love my little 112 its a great machine, although its a little smaller than yours. if anyone needs a tractor thats not as larger as yours a 110/112 or 200 series garden tractor is an outstanding choice.
Congrats! The 330 is like the 332, just without power steering. I would recommend getting an owners manual (ebay?) and I always think it's a good idea to flush all fluids and change all filters when I first get a used machine (then your maintenence schedule will be accurate). A good online forum to visit is weekendfreedommachines. All Deere owners and many experts. Again, Congrats on the purchase. It's a tough machine for sure!
you get what you pay is very true. 17 years ago i baught a 1971 jd 140 h3 have never regreted it. I have a full line of atachments for it. such as 48"mower deck 42"tiller 48" snowthrower sleave hitch and 10" moldbourd plow. It is 37 years old and have no intentions of replaceing it.the only week part in the 140 was that 14 hp kohler engine. my 140 is now running on 18hp twin cylender engine.
an H3! Very nice machine! Yeah, those V-twin conversions sure are a sweet deal. And when that 18hp gets tired out, that 140 will still be there ready for whatever the new engine swap is, it will probably be electric, ehh?
are you saying that thing costs $3000? That is incredible, it is a well built machine, we just got an la 125 with 21 horses, its a briggs and straton engine, with a 42" cutting blade
yeah, with low hours these diesels will cost you some money. But the nice thing is, it will still be worth money years from now too. So overall they're a good investment.
The old adage holds true.....(you get what you pay for). They are as good as any lawn tractor in it's price range, but really are an entry level machine. When John Deere first wanted to sell inexpensive mowers, they didn't originally want their name associated with them so the Sabre name was invented.
Am addicted to these things , l have a 140 H1 ( w/blower , plow and tiller ) , 212 , 214 , 216 , 318 <- newly added and a 430 ( 3 pt w/ front & rear pto , 2 stage blower and a few brinly attachments ) all in very nice shape except the 318 which before snow fly it too should be looking good . Even have a nice old cubby parked amongst the " herd " . After watching your very nicely done video , it makes me want to put one together . 5 stars !!
I would love to have a 140 and 430. I think those are the absolute best of their eras. I sure wouldn't mind have'n a Cub (red 782diesel) that's a good lookin rig.
No they sure don't. I do like some of the new high end models from JD, but they are over $10,000. I'll wait until they're 20 yrs old to see how they're holding up. I consider that the break-in period for the JD's.
i have a john deere 318 20hp onan 567 hours(nothing), the 332 and the 318 are just alike frame wise and implements, just different engine, i wish i had a diesel tho:)
John Deere makes one hell of a solid mower, the older ones are cast iron/steel and will last forever. I have a 1987 JD 212 and I have put that through hell pulling loaded down hay wagons, a small two bottom plow, and pulling stumps on the farm. These machines are built tough and built to last.
Hey I have a John Deere 160 year is a 1987.Back in 1987 was worth 2800.00 I am restoring I found out it was worth spending that kind of money once it is finished.
yeah, do it. My neighbor has a 160, probably the same year as yours, it just goes and goes and goes. That's a great mower. You should make a before and after vid and post it when you're done. Alot of us love that stuff.
I totally agree with all of you. I have a 1969 johndeere 110, and even though it is only a 10 horsepower, it is built like a tank. It has so much power and like you said the frames are thick, almost like a car. If you compare new to old, the new ones are crappy stamped metal. I am looking for a 318 for bigger deck, hydrolics, and of course more power. Good luck old jd's rule!!
the 110's are great machines, take care of that beast. It's from a bygone era.... we'll never see machines built like that again....once they're gone.....they're gone.
I love the old the new sucks I plan to bring them back and remanufactor them Only a new name but same thing. Poeple think i am a fool but i know new sucks :) ROCK ON MAN
found mine at the local JD dealer. craigslist, ebay...... if you don't have much mechanical experience it is a good idea to have an inspection done. With proper maintenance these tractors will last forever, but if they are neglected the 20 years of use can cause too much wear. Good Luck.

JOKE: A Redneck blonde pushes her lawn tractor into a gas station. She tells the mechanic it died. After he works on it for a few minutes, it is idling smoothly.
She says, "What's the story?"
He replies, "Just crap in the carburetor"
She asks, "How often do I have to do that?"

i like it a lot cuz it reminds me of my little gray mf cuz my garden tractor only has a 12hp briggs & stratton engine but that looks like a regular traktor youst smaller

The 332 is a real good tractor. The place I used to work at had one. Held up despite too many operators and the resulting abuse. I have an '02 GX 325 and I love it. I've also got a '74 Gravely L-8 2-wheeler.
Lvfd416 2 years ago
I looked at your gravely vid. That's sweet!
tkunk 2 years ago

They dont make them like this anymore!

me too .. I have a stx38 and it's great :D
TomescuCalin 2 years ago
@TomescuCalin stx38?? i had one of those. it was weak. they are good for mowing and nothing else. cannot compare to a john deere garden tractor. stx 38's are lawn mowers, nothing else. dont try to remove snow with it either. the weak transmission will not take the abuse

Beautiful machine, I took you advice in the vedio and bought a JD 318 withe the hydrolics etc... When I recieved it the snow blower was already attached so I have no idea how to install the mower. Would you do a vedio on that? Also I can't find a manual for it without paying and arm and a leg.
Thanks for the advice I love my 318

your absolutely right these are great small tractors realy heavy duty for a small farm tractor i have a 210 series just like this same frame and front axle mine has a kohler k241 puts out about 27 peak horse power its super charged an has a 4speed transmission and optional 3point hitch and PTO and hydrolic pump and the front axle is rated i think for 2500 lbs i would feels safe not going above 1200
DRNEGOLICIS 2 years ago
its a hydrostatic, you dont need to put on the brakes
slowride55 2 years ago
the brakes are generally used to send power from the wheel that has lost traction to the other rear wheel.
tkunk 2 years ago
i know that, ive driven a 317 and a 318 countless times. i meant you dont need to put on the brakes when you start it. i would agree if it was geared, its a good idea to put the clutch on
slowride55 2 years ago
almost sounds like a detroit diesel
trucker765 2 years ago
well it sounds good, but it doesn't have the RAP of the detroit 2 strokes. Gotta love them Detroit diesels!

I prefer the 05 over the 98 just for the fact of an automatic drive, but i prefer the 94 ford over the 05 deere because it has automatic tran and it is ten times more powerful, I am totally on your side with the old vs new.
marinesguy106 2 years ago
I have a 332 it's actually my second, It has 600 hrs on it and is a 1990. The one I had before had over 2800 hrs on it and ran like a champ the whole time I owned it. I also have a 316 w/onan motor again nice tractor but my 332 is a beast.
tbutman42 2 years ago
Oh yeah......... 2800 hrs is amazing. The common consensus is anything over 1000 hrs on an average garden tractor engine is a bonus. These little diesels are good for 2 to 3 times that. And the smoothest diesel around
tkunk 2 years ago
Nice mower. Kind of funny, I saw this video about a month ago just messing around in youtube, and found the same series as yours for sale. I went and looked at it at a JD dealer and bought it. the motor has been re-man with about 50 hours on it. They are truly a mowing machine.
sean4185 2 years ago
That is very cool! Great choice!
tkunk 2 years ago
oh and i have nothing against john deere just their newer crap that don't last i do have a 210 and a 316 and they still run good my 316 is one of the rare ones that has a kohler in it it was made in 1978 the first year they came out and the only year they made the 316 with a kohler they discontinued them untill the early 80's but they put the onan in them when they brought them back i love the older ones just hate the newer ones they don't make em like they used to great vid 5 stars
oney135 2 years ago
oh and another thing this lawn mower is way more hightech then alot of them today if it was mine i would keep it
joeldude76 2 years ago
seems more like a tractor not ment for mowing that thing is awesome i would buy it
joeldude76 2 years ago
Buy a Kubota. Better deal and runs just as good if not better than a JD. JD is all hype and paying for the name.
trappercv935 2 years ago
Oh the irony. I had a Kubota G5200 as well. The superiority of the JD over the Kubota is one of the reasons I made this vid. The JD is so much more of a machine. The JD weighs about 300lbs. more and is just more solid in every aspect. Do a side by side comparo and the Kubota doesn't come close. This was my first Deere and I'm blown away with how heavy duty this thing is.
tkunk 2 years ago
I meant the 430 is not necessarily better as it is too big for some people.
tc25d 2 years ago
Nice Tractor - maybe the best ever. The 430 is bigger but necessarily better for many people. The 318 is solid too. Had many of these units but now upgraded to a New Holland TC25D. Miss the old Deere and if I could afford it I would get a 430.
tc25d 2 years ago
hey i gotta say y'all really know what ur talkin bout i just bought me a JD LX 255 '01 for $900 and im so happy that i went with JD i had a used '98 Craftsman and it only ran a year for me thanks for keepin the JD tradition alive boys and keep on mowin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
racefan838 2 years ago
i have a 05 craftsman lt2000 automatic and it has 400hrs on it runs like the day i bought it and i have a 03 john deere L120 and it is junk smokes so bad u can't see a dang thing in front of u when it is running and it only has 200 hrs on it deere makes so many models the bigger garden tractor models like this one are better built because they are made for alot of stuff and cost alot more but mowing ur yard craftman is better than the newer 100-200series john deeres them diesels last forever

I have an '87 322 gas powered Yanmar and I love it. Also have all the attachments - snowblower, tiller, mower deck, front and rear blades.
The best investment I've ever made.
deere322 2 years ago
Yeah, the 322 has a cult like following, that is the smoothest engine ever put in a garden tractor. And it's the toughest gas engine you'll find since it's basically the 3 cylinder Yanmar diesel converted to a gas.

tkunk 3 years ago
@shadowandhannah Want to talk story's I just retired my 318 john deere it had 4000 hours as per the meter on it when i bought it (used by a lawn matence company) that was 18 years ago after i got it i have cut our 4 acre (verry hilly Lawn) as u would to keep it nice 2-3 times a week in the spring 1 time aweek mid summer 2 times a week in the fall now it takes 8 hours of cutting time per cut i sold it this spring for $1000 I figgure it had over 8000hrs on it the meter quit 8 years ago at 7000 hrs

the local cub dealer was yelling at a customer on the phone one day when i walked in-- new=cheap crap -the dealer is the customer service rep fielding calls from irate customers-bigwigs always want to make a tractor cheaper for more money in their pockets
pudd750 3 years ago
I'm sure he's seen the result of cost cutting and outsourcing the parts and labor to other countries.
tkunk 3 years ago
hi tunk, i own a 330 diesel. the only difference is 2 pedal brake power steering dual wet lines. thats about all. same motor and deck drives. this machine is a salvage wonder. i bought it resonably cheap w/ a mildly seized engine. after it was unseized the timing was out both injection pump and cam. had that straighted out the crank was a little out of round 1 jernal made a fast fix to it and runs great. has been in service for 1 yr. look i have parts for john deere tractors willing to sell.
mchl8 3 years ago
sounds like you've turned a wrench or two in your life. Good job saving an old deere from the scrap heap.
tkunk 3 years ago
ahaw yea always. im looking for deck spindles. but too ive got some new dealer parts for jd. maybe ill post mine eventualy.
mchl8 3 years ago
yeah, the 112's are great, just imagine how many lawn tractors have been built, bought, used, worn out and junked since your 112 was built.
tkunk 3 years ago
i know what you mean. the reason why the really old garden tractors are still around is because they used extremely high quality materials. i thought process used to be if you build a well built machine people would come back for new. now its all about making something cheap so what they have breaks and they are forced to replace it. my parents have a 1998 cub cadet. its the worlds biggest peice of ****. its actaully rusting out. if you spend the money on an old machine it will pay you back.
ad356 3 years ago
i have an even older deere. i have a 1971 john deere 112. i just swapped engines recently i bought a replacement k301 short block engine that only had 1 season on it for $150. a just broken in kohler engine for $150 was a steal. i have a newer 38" 2 blade deck, and a nice 37a blower. I love my little 112 its a great machine, although its a little smaller than yours. if anyone needs a tractor thats not as larger as yours a 110/112 or 200 series garden tractor is an outstanding choice.
ad356 3 years ago

Hi!
Very good video.
I was so inspired that I just bought a 1986 330 diesel from USA and will ship it to me in Sweden.
Do You have any special info to me? I really know nothing more about the tractor I just bought.
Thanks!

KUNGSATER 3 years ago
It's a tough machine for sure!
tkunk 3 years ago
you get what you pay is very true. 17 years ago i baught a 1971 jd 140 h3 have never regreted it. I have a full line of atachments for it. such as 48"mower deck 42"tiller 48" snowthrower sleave hitch and 10" moldbourd plow. It is 37 years old and have no intentions of replaceing it.the only week part in the 140 was that 14 hp kohler engine. my 140 is now running on 18hp twin cylender engine.
minnmarv 3 years ago
an H3! Very nice machine! Yeah, those V-twin conversions sure are a sweet deal. And when that 18hp gets tired out, that 140 will still be there ready for whatever the new engine swap is, it will probably be electric, ehh?
tkunk 3 years ago
are you saying that thing costs $3000? That is incredible, it is a well built machine, we just got an la 125 with 21 horses, its a briggs and straton engine, with a 42" cutting blade
rendog92 3 years ago
yeah, with low hours these diesels will cost you some money. But the nice thing is, it will still be worth money years from now too. So overall they're a good investment.
tkunk 3 years ago
yep, its also fair that john deer keeps its prices in one line, no overpricing or underpricing, I hope this thing lasts forever
rendog92 3 years ago
Is the john deere sabre a good tractor?
killercec22 3 years ago
The old adage holds true.....(you get what you pay for). They are as good as any lawn tractor in it's price range, but really are an entry level machine. When John Deere first wanted to sell inexpensive mowers, they didn't originally want their name associated with them so the Sabre name was invented.
tkunk 3 years ago
Am addicted to these things , l have a 140 H1 ( w/blower , plow and tiller ) , 212 , 214 , 216 , 318 <- newly added and a 430 ( 3 pt w/ front & rear pto , 2 stage blower and a few brinly attachments ) all in very nice shape except the 318 which before snow fly it too should be looking good . Even have a nice old cubby parked amongst the " herd " . After watching your very nicely done video , it makes me want to put one together . 5 stars !!
bloodyfinger5 3 years ago
I would love to have a 140 and 430. I think those are the absolute best of their eras. I sure wouldn't mind have'n a Cub (red 782diesel) that's a good lookin rig.
tkunk 3 years ago
They make them like they use to, do they?
CMLovejoy 3 years ago
No they sure don't. I do like some of the new high end models from JD, but they are over $10,000. I'll wait until they're 20 yrs old to see how they're holding up. I consider that the break-in period for the JD's.
tkunk 3 years ago
that thing will last another 20 years at least because its built like a tank

i have a john deere 318 20hp onan 567 hours(nothing), the 332 and the 318 are just alike frame wise and implements, just different engine, i wish i had a diesel tho:)
TurboSaba24v 3 years ago
John Deere makes one hell of a solid mower, the older ones are cast iron/steel and will last forever. I have a 1987 JD 212 and I have put that through hell pulling loaded down hay wagons, a small two bottom plow, and pulling stumps on the farm. These machines are built tough and built to last.

I have have two 332s, one has a 1100hrs. the other has 1900hrs on it. i think the 332 was one of the finest garden tractors deere made.
dieselpower73 3 years ago
1900hrs, that's a bunch. I wonder if anyone got that many hrs from a gas engine. How does that one run?
tkunk 3 years ago
That one ran fine, no probelms. only probelms ive had with the 332 is overcharging due to a bad voltage regulator that they put in the early models.
dieselpower73 3 years ago
yep, that's common. Good to hear they're running strong....... not that I had any doubts about that. Thanks!

Good luck old jd's rule!!
johndeere110kid 3 years ago 2
the 110's are great machines, take care of that beast. It's from a bygone era.... we'll never see machines built like that again....once they're gone.....they're gone.

where do u get them
thermalnose 3 years ago
found mine at the local JD dealer. craigslist, ebay...... if you don't have much mechanical experience it is a good idea to have an inspection done. With proper maintenance these tractors will last forever, but if they are neglected the 20 years of use can cause too much wear. Good Luck.
