My introduction to the Beatles..... young, open minded, full of fun....they impressed more than that on our generation... We were lucky to have them for a while.
Although this is ok to listen to, it could be one of my least favorite Beatle songs, especially of those written by John - they weren't all perfect. :)
@anonUK I feel that their first album is the best. Each song has a strong pronouncement as if it were an album predicated on the soaring immensity of Pearl Jam's 'Even Flow'.
Please please me by being pleased by 'Please Please Me', pretty please?
@scatmansmooth Is it a tabby? There all the bloody same - temprimental fecks like starkey. Rory Storm was awesome after he crossed the mersey and changed drummer.
@CalamityCameron STF up. You tory voting paper reading sheep scum. You only voted for them because they let John Halliday Reginald Christie hang quickly so you didn't have to recount the mess you stuck up barstewards made by hanging the perfectly innocent Timothy Evans three years previously.
Its beyond ALL reasonable doubt that Tim did NOT kill anyone yet his lifeline generation were all ended by a serial killer who finished them all off.
Still to this day the Royal Pardon did NOT quash it.
I forgot the song was from the album. So evocative of the time. Have been singing this at work for the last several months. So good to hear it. My brother gave away the album years ago.
The whole album was recorded in 10 hours and was supposed to play like a Beatles concert, all the songs were part of their stage act apart from Misery which had only been written a few weeks before.
There are hidden messages in this song and many other Beatles songs that could not be perceived until now. Go to TruthContest(dot) com, open The Present, and read the section about The Beatles to learn how to perceive the hidden messages in their songs.
The "B" side to "Twist and Shout" on my Tollie 45rpm. This song has helped me remember there is always a safe place to go when life may be crumbling around you.

Fantastic album - as close to a 'live' recording as makes no difference, especially this track and Twist and Shout. What a band! This sound was so radical in the early 60s - it eclipsed everything. Couldn't believe it when I first heard it back in 63 - and it still sounds fresh today. Get the remastered mono CDs - money well spent.
@m8cct Remasters of all the albums up to the White Album but excluding Magical Mystery Tour - not an official album in the UK in the 60s - are available in mono and stereo. You should get both box sets. Sgt Pepper is much better in mono as are some tracks on the White Album, Helter Skelter for example.
ah, I see, I've been meaning to listen to some of them. I'd imagine a lot of their songs sound better in mono, like most of the songs from their earlier album, but I have a hard time believing Sgt. Pepper is better in mono. I felt like the stereo sound contributed so much to that album, but I've never really heard it in mono much, I'll have to listen to it, thanks for the tip!
In terms of tight 2-3 person harmonies, I think The Hollies come real close to The Beatles. If the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame means anything, I'm glad to see The Hollies getting in - they deserve it.

Lets put it out here! - record an album in a day. No dubbing or room for messing up!
Leave the hardest song (vocally) till last (Twist n Shout) with a producer (George Martin) who thinks deep down you're a mediocre band.
Original songs were also a rarity and with Andy White on drums for the 'love me do' single.
Great band and producer - the rest as they say is history...
