Had this record for years then moved and lost my entire record collection, thanks for posting this. Haven't heard it in years. I to love this music. Has a very special quality to it.
The film 'If' (1968) use's the Missa Luba record to great effect, beautiful, spiritual music, so important that it was recorded and can be heard and appreciated today.
Just Seeing Gospel according to St Matthews and this song stuck into my head. That's why i love You tube because i can hear it without having to rewatch the movie
Jimmy Page recommends Missa Luba in the February 2010 issue of Mojo magazine. I grew up with the record in my house. My dad, who's a good 49 years older than me, tried to get me to listen when my age was in the single digits. I didn't get it then. Next time I visit, I'll tell him the guitarist of Led Zeppelin recommended I give Missa Luba another try and see what he says.
In 1968 I was a nun teaching 7th and 8th graders in Milwakee. I began using popular songs in my curriculum...."Sounds of Silence", "I am a Rock", "Downtown"-Petula Clarke...and then discovered Missa Luba. My class wanted this played all the time. Music is the greatest memory-maker and this brought back those days like they were yesterday. Thanks, Youtube, for making it available to us. the former Sister Mary Colleen
Beautiful! Holy! Inspiring! The yankee missionaries should learn and respect the culture of other people the way the Catholic church does. Those that claim that this music is unholy are idiots. It brings me close to God. Adrien Alpendre
This beautiful music has been used in Pasolini's film 'Il vangelo secondo Matteo', I don't believe in any religion but still very inspiring and peaceful music
i have the original album,,,anyone interested in buying it, hit me up(fonzo176@gmail.com) excellent condition,,,,,stereo pcc 606

The Missa Luba is a beautiful expression of African culture and Christianity combined. Adrien Alpendre, Ph.D.

@djguestspeaker Yes! Not until today did I learn that the incredible music from Pasolini's film was in fact Missa Luba. A revelation.

Powerful! I can understand why Pasolini used this music. The natural sound of the voices is ageless.
