In the 90s it took the US 3 times(AoStH, Satam, Underground) to get a huge audience, for Japan(Sonic OVA) it only took them 1 time to steal the US audience and get their own Japanese audience. Fuck DiC and fuck Archie, go Sonic Team!
@funcoolfunfun The comics stated that they are based on the cartoon in every special issue. In SatAm, the backstory is explained in episode 17. It's rather different from the comic.

@Idazmi7 Where are you getting this info because Sally came in late 1993 since Satam was the 2nd US cartoon. She was a failed attempt to replace Amy. Amy came in 1993 the copyright means that DiC got the right to put SONIC in their show in 1992 but created Sally around 1993 plus Amy can't be a replacement because first of all Sonic Team didn't even know who Sally was until last year i think, and as Tiara Boobowski, she looks like a prototype for Modern Amy.

Apparently those comics say he is 17 but biologically 16, so looks to me like he was 16 years old for 20 years oh wait nevermind, for only 18 years, SEGA Sonic was around for 20 years, lol.

@bagel84568 Yup. They should bring it back for one season and then (after the 5th to last episode) have viewers vote on whether or not they want another season. If the answer is yes, then they set it up for another season (by not resolving any of the major plot points by the end of the season) and if the answer is no, then they resolve all of the major plot points in the last 4 episodes of the season.

@Idazmi7 Sonic 2 was made ON America, employees of Sonic Team and SOJ went to help them make Sonic 2, if it was fully made by America, it wouldn't be part of the canon. So both SEGA of Japan and America made it. And The games do have a point, if you would rip that face of yours away from those comics and play the games and watch the funny cutscenes, you would understand.

I didn't like the American comic because they fooled around with the main characters persona types too much. It was clear in SatAm, but in the comic, everything is unstable: issue-to-issue, everybody flip-flops from archetype to archetype. (Princess Sally especially comes to mind)
As for the british comic, I cannot vote for a blue hero who is THAT KIND of jerkass.

I've pretty much got a list of all of the good-guy characters from the Archie comics that a good portion of people hate (even though I don't hate them) and they are: Big, Sally, Geoffrey St. John, Amy, and Maximillian (even though he was still king on the issues that people did hate him I can't say "King Max" since I had recently "watched" (on this website) the issue where Elias had returned to Knothole and became King).
@Idazmi7 The only thing about the Archie comics (since I couldn't fit this into my first reply I had to put it here) that I find even the least bit annoying is the sheer amount of Star Wars references. I lost count at about 50.
As for the brittish comic, Sonic might have been a big jerk, but it's better he's just a jerk to people in his normal form than when he became Fleetway's version of Super Sonic (before they ended up existing as separate entities of course).
@Idazmi7 They headquartered Sega in Tokyo, that was America's choice back then, but it's true, they wouldn't let any US games go except for Sonic Spinball. Sonic Xtreme was led by America, and so was that stupid Sonic game that had Sally in it. God that was the worst, Sonic Xtreme looked good but that Satam one, ugh! It was slowpaced, the music was gay and worse, it had Sally!

The cartoon and comics are non-canon so their goes Sally.

@Idazmi7 I would enjoy a SatAm based Sonic game. It would prove that SEGA actually cared about it's ORIGINAL fanbase. I would not spend my time harping about it being "more canon" than other parts of the Sonic franchise. I would just play the game and leave people with annoying attitudes alone. But instead, SatAm is a neglected plot.
And the "fans" come here only to piss on an ignored, mostly forgotten plotline, and it's remaining fanbase.
@Idazmi7 Same idea for a game based on Sonic Underground (about the isolated story part).
Although I, and probably several other people, would really enjoy a crossover game that combines Season 3 of Sonic X (since that season actually takes place in Sonic's Universe), AoSth, SatAm (with a few characters that only exist within the Archie comics), and Sonic Underground.
@funcoolfunfun Archie would be better for acrossover than SatAm, SatAm has a tendency to absorb everything into is' core plot, and the typical Sonic universe is very incompatible with SatAm, even Archie.
@funcoolfunfun It would be kind of cool to have an extreme crossover.
BTW I have been writing a backstory for an exclusively SatAm based fangame (adventure platformer) for awhile: do you think the game should be 3D or 2D in nature? In 3D, the game would "feel" more like SatAm and allow for a more dynamic movement structure. In 2D, it would be simple, but lose the Sat/Am asthetic during actual gameplay. @Idazmi7 The canon does not change shape at all. SEGA simply likes to make a sequel and a prequel now and then like Sonic 4. Sonic Team makes the canon not me or Archie. The only reason the comic still goes on is because of the games. funcoolfunfun underground is okay in one or 2 episodes okay i may have whatched as a kid ive just never got in to it id rather watch sonic x than underground if i wanted ive just watch it in the morning at 6 but that because theres no other shows on that i like on then its that or watch some animes on my ps3 online but i most likely watch sonic underground. i do like how knuckles was in it. but at the point i watched underground i was used to the satam characters
@papermariottydfan1 Sonic Underground wasn't based off of anygame except Sonic 3 but very loosely because Manic and Sonia were never there because they never existed. None of these shows had anything to do with the games, the only one i could think of was Sonic X because of Sonic Adventures 1 and 2 and Heroes story and Sonic OVA for having Eggman's original design instead of his dickhead design and concepts of the game like the springs, bumpers, needles, and the old robots.

@papermariottydfan1 Why do you hate Sonic Underground? Also, Sonic Underground was not based off of this. They just share some similarities in general plot (Robotnik taking over, the Roboticizer, Freedom Fighters (maybe not specifics but just the fact that there are freedom fighters, and Sonic having an Uncle Chuck (although, in Sonic Underground the "Uncle" part is more like an "uncle-in-law"). That's it.
oh man....where has the time gone?!!! This is the BEST sonic cartoon I've ever watched in my life! This and the Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog were both amazing when I was younger! I mostly liked SatAM though because of the dark atmosphere and Dr.Robotnik was actually a serious enemy to Sonic. Sonic X cannot compare to this in my opinion and Sonally was the best sonic couple of all TIME. Sonic's TRUE girlfriend aside from Mina Mongoose and Fiona Fox who shared his affection too(:

@funcoolfunfun Aosth was a little to wacky for me. I am not into that kind of humor, Sonic X had a few good episodes but it tries to pass it self of as a comedy kids show as well as a serious epic series and that doesn't mix well. Example when Sonic breaks the fourth wall in the first episode, it reeally feels out of place. Also I couldn't like any of the characters Amy was too obsessive of Sonic and Knuckles was just..dumb. I wacthed the Japanese sub version btw.

@Kellox17 Okay. On November 2 of last year I was looking on Hulu for a full copy of Jeff Dunham's latest special ("Controlled Chaos"). Well, there wasn't one. But one of the results was the first episode of Sonic X ("Chaos Control Freaks"). I ignored it at first, but curiousity got the better of me after a while. I watched it and soon after I realized that Sonic is actually kind of cool and he and Mario are actually equal. The wierd thing is, until I saw Sonic X I actually hated Sonic.

Sonic Underground only does it in a more subtle way, while the other 3 use rings at least twice (SatAm and Sonic X use them a lot). In fact, an episode of SatAm was based off of one of the games. Besides which, looking past that, is there any other reason?

Amy was one of several attempts to REPLACE Sally. "Tiara Boobowski" is the other. Both of them failed.

So both SEGA of Japan and America made it. I didn't like the American comic because they fooled around with the main characters persona types too much. It was clear in SatAm, but in the comic, everything is unstable: issue-to-issue, everybody flip-flops from archetype to archetype. (Princess Sally especially comes to mind)
As for the british comic, I cannot vote for a blue hero who is THAT KIND of jerkass.

As for the brittish comic, Sonic might have been a big jerk, but it's better he's just a jerk to people in his normal form than when he became Fleetway's version of Super Sonic (before they ended up existing as separate entities of course).

@papermariottydfan1 Sonic Underground wasn't based off of anygame except Sonic 3 but very loosely because Manic and Sonia were never there because they never existed. None of these shows had anything to do with the games, the only one i could think of was Sonic X because of Sonic Adventures 1 and 2 and Heroes story and Sonic OVA for having Eggman's original design instead of his dickhead design and concepts of the game like the springs, bumpers, needles, and the old robots.

They just share some similarities in general plot (Robotnik taking over, the Roboticizer, Freedom Fighters (maybe not specifics but just the fact that there are freedom fighters, and Sonic having an Uncle Chuck (although, in Sonic Underground the "Uncle" part is more like an "uncle-in-law"). oh man....where has the time gone?!!! This is the BEST sonic cartoon I've ever watched in my life! This and the Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog were both amazing when I was younger! I mostly liked SatAM though because of the dark atmosphere and Dr.Robotnik was actually a serious enemy to Sonic. Sonic X cannot compare to this in my opinion and Sonally was the best sonic couple of all TIME. Sonic's TRUE girlfriend aside from Mina Mongoose and Fiona Fox who shared his affection too(:

I am not into that kind of humor, Sonic X had a few good episodes but it tries to pass it self of as a comedy kids show as well as a serious epic series and that doesn't mix well. Example when Sonic breaks the fourth wall in the first episode, it reeally feels out of place. Also I couldn't like any of the characters Amy was too obsessive of Sonic and Knuckles was just..dumb. But one of the results was the first episode of Sonic X ("Chaos Control Freaks"). I ignored it at first, but curiousity got the better of me after a while.
