I don't think you can compare his run in 1988 to the 2008 election. He hasn't run in a presidential election since then, so I don't really see how it was a choice. He has run for the republican nominee, and was bumped out early on every time. So, you could blame the republican party for being anti free market, but not for people picking Obama instead of Paul. The general election was McCain vs Obama. Another year of crap option 1 vs crap option 2.
