No. It's not a difference of opinion, y'all are wrong. It was written about Napoleon's FRENCH war campaign in Russia. Hence the FRENCH name and composer. Also, who are you to judge me? American, yes. Teenager, yes. But better and more successful of a person that you will ever be.
@ElliottMorrisi Tchaikovsky was russian. The song commemorates the RUSSIAN victory OVER Napoleon in the war of 1812. Why would the French celebrate a failed campaign?Your ignorance is not suprising, but your confidence is baffling.
The film is a symbol as the act of seeing him, the power of symbols comes from the people, a symbol alone is meaningless, but with enough people a film can change the world ... And so we create an idea and ideas are bulletproof;)
I'm an American, so the actual date is not as relevant for me. As a student working on his degree in History, I can however tell you that the point of the Guy Fawkes mask is constantly missed by Anonymous and others--Fawkes was indeed a terrorist, and had he succeeded much more than Parliament would have been destroyed (innocents would have died), and he did not care. The reason V wears that is to show that he is morally ambiguous--an antihero, not a hero in the truest sense.
@dorkandproudofit That's why V let Eve pull the lever. V reborned in fire - he was the son of rage and revenge, so you may call him an antihero, but Eve's new life started with rain - the symbol of peace, harmony and as well power. That's why destroying the parlament - an idea started by Guy Fawkes and continued by V, is not an act of terrorism or the start of anarchy, it a simbol of newly reborn peace and hope, as it was fulfilled by the daughter or rain - Eve.
@Rahrification Interesting. But IMO, Finch is the only truly heroic character in the movie--every action he takes is based on duty and principle. He no doubt is aware of the crimes of his government, but his code seems to be "obey first, question later"; even when it's confirmed that he's working for the bad guys, he tries to do good WITHIN the system. It's only when his superiors are dead that he no longer has to go against his conscience and can act freely. He's an everyman.
@dorkandproudofit I wouldn't call an everyman a hero, but Finch is indeed an ideal of a great citizen in a democratic country. But in this movie England is depicted as a dictatorship, where duty and obedience are the act of weak and cowardly. So Finch cannot ascend as a hero till he says no to the goverment and his principles. And although in the last scene Finch didn't stop Eve from finishing V's idea, he has only proven his innocense and sense of justice.
@dorkandproudofit BTW, I'm sorry for my bad English, it is not my native language, it takes me a while to form a normal sentance. And ofcourse I fully respect your opinion, as this movie left a lot of place for interpretations and many insights are possible.
@Oskareczekeczek haha cool. Anonymous took some ideas from V for Vendetta, which in turn used a classical piece of music, and then raped the ideas until it became something more of their liking. In theory you shouldn't be able to follow what they're doing on the web because them doing something means they turned against the ideals they had in the begining of staying anonymous on the internet. so you sir are retarded, like the newfags who raped what anonymous once was.
Just kidding. I didn't say I like what they're doing, to be honest I'm not sure what to think about it yet.
This way or another, ACTA that was about to be signed in a week in my country is against human rights, because it was negotiated without informing the society. Normal protests and petitions were useless, and then Anonymous blocked many big goverment sites. Right now goverment shit their pants and says they'll reconsider what they're gonna do.
@Oskareczekeczek maybe. you reply erases you previous statement. and don't get me wrong, I'm not against their protests, or at least not all of them, but what does tick me off is the way little faggots latch onto the original idea and then repeat their motto all over the internet which gives everyone of the protestors under the "anonymous" banner a bad name.
@nzman101 Does it erase my previous statement? :D My previous statement was that I was following what's happening over the web due Anonymous actions, while listening to this :P Maybe I wasn't specific, I started to listen to this track because I like it very much, as well in this version and full orchestral. It was a coincidence that I accidentally started reading news about those cyber-attacks.
@alfacobra1 The only true victory in my opinion would be to try and head out into space and establish a spiritually enlightened post-scarcity society where there is no further need for wars of wealth, dictatorships or rebellions. As long as we stay on Earth in our technological primitivism revolutions and invasions will not solve the problems at their core, it will just be like giving it a hair cut in a sense.
Whether that is possible reality or delusion I cannot tell you.
A society cannot be perfect like that though. Even if it was spiritually enlightened without any problems there would have to be some competition of being better than the other person. They would lead to sins like greed or lust. A perfect society like that could not exist because it doesn't exist in human nature. However, if we stay on Earth we can still learn from what bad has happened and try to better our lives from that experience. By the way revolutions are not just violence they are ideas.
@fokshill I've read a democracy a government is supposed to serve the people not the other way around. If true you can see just how far short they've fallen short of the ideals.
@SinDawg030 Real men stand in front of the blanks I kno because I did and I was 15 and I still am but Im pretty sure I flew a few feet but a dude ran up to me and said (with my ears ringing but I understood him well) dude your insane I wish I had your guts
In the movie, V always had the aura of bravery and steadfastness. Even if I couldn't see his face and everything he wore was dark, I felt that I could see the "idea" he represented glowing from that mask! Guy Fawkes would have been proud to watch this film!
Actually from what I've heard is that Tchaikovsky tells the whole Napolean Invasion and Repel by the russians, if you listen to the whole song its begging is sad because Napolean was invading and burning down cities until the winter came and Napoleon got his ass kicked down to germany under the cannon sounds.
