I have a Model 2 Genesis and recently acquired Zombies Ate My Neighbors. But for some reason the "Up" direction on my D-Pad does not seem to work when the game is on. This happens to a couple other games. Is it the system, game, controller or am i going crazy?
@SmellyOnionGas If it happens to other games it's not the game. Just swap out the controller and if it works then it's the controller. If not, its the system.
question I just got a Genesis model 1 and I got an AC adapter but it wasn't the one you showed, but it fit and the genesis wouldnt turn on so is it the ac adapter or the genesis itself?...I hope its the ac adapter
If youre a fan of RPG's the games i reccomend are Phantasy Star 3 & 4 [3 isnt for everyone but if you enjoyed it as a kid you'll enjoy it now] Shining Force 1 &2 . They are pretty expencive around 30 pounds uk, which is around 16 bucks.
As for controllers Sega did produce a wireless version, which i have also purchessed, which are IR controllers they work pretty well.
The reason why Knuckles doesn't work in Sonic One is because they found it to hard
@A7777777lan I actually got it a couple months ago and I think it's ok. Feels a lot like a master system game actually. I haven't played it too much so I can't pass judgment on it yet.
@bigM10231 I think that the ratings you are thinking are European are the VRC system that SEGA came up with back in the day before the ERSB was widely established. The symbols they used looked kinda like the European rating symbols they use today.
My sonic 1 doesn't work in the sonic and knuckles adapter. Why? And one day I dropped a crap load of my games and one of them was MK 2, and for a while it didn't work then it did and now it's not again. Do you think it's from the drop or is it just dust?
Lol, your sense of humor doesn't come out very often, but when it does, it really shines. "I know you may like taking baths with your toughman contest, but just... don't."

No. I know that the original Model 1 number MK-1601 was made in Japan, newer revisions were made in Taiwan to cut production costs
From what I've read the Model 3 is capable of playing Japanese Mega Drive games, as the cartridges are the same size and the Japanese cartridges contain no regional lockout chip.
Good overview. A few extra points though. 1) The hardshell cases were first used by Sega with it's Sega Master System. 2)During the lifespan of the Genesis Sega quit using the hardshell cases and used cardboard sleeves instead. This was in response to pressure from invironmental groups. Believe it or not, they were actually more expense to make than the hardshell cases. 3) The Model 3 was made by Majesco under license from Sega.
1) Yes, the Master system does have hard cases but in most countries that system hardly counted as mainstream, hardly putting a dent in the market. 2)Interesting fact. I didnt know that that was the reason for the cardboard cases 3) I think it was more that it was manufactured by Majesco, and not MADE by Majesco, the difference being SEGA still designed the console, unlike all the other Genesis models. I am not entirely sure of this though.

Sega terminated all support for the Game Gear in 1997, but good 'ol Majesco released a version of it in 2000. It had a better speaker than those made prior to that time.
And as we know Sega used the same cardboard cases for cartridge for the Genesis 32X.
I know the SMS was a failure in the U.S., but outsold Nintendo in parts of Europe and South America.
Cheers

But the real question is if the Genesis 3 was designed by SEGA or Majesco. Do you happen to know?

Thanks. Ya, I bought my Genesis in grade 5 for about 70 bucks (which was my life savings at the time).
I did forget to mention Seganet, Sega Channel and X-Band internet services for the Genesis in my haste to get the review under 10 minutes.
